what is this Kasumi nonsense?

Also, Mass Effect already has a whole lot of Japanese references in it. The MSV Tokyo (Pressly's old ship)? Admiral Kahoku? The Ramen guy who "Irasshaimase"? Shin Akiba? And them suddenly "Kasumi" gets flak only because it's the same name as someone from a known Japanese gaming franchise.
And yes, Kasumi is hardly a rumor: one of the reports on Illium actually refer to her by name (a segment about a company's prototype tech getting stolen). And yes, the game files themselves make her existence a certainty at this point.

I just hope they release it soon. I don't want to start another playthrough before it's released.
I second this.

This is a fail. No really... what even made you think that a DOA character could get into Mass Effect in any way? This idea is just so badly braindead that it hurts. Why do you even ask?

how not. I'm not saying Bioware or EA would do this. I think quite the contrary. I was just stating presidents for it.Bryy_Miller wrote...

Let's see... The first thing people thought when they saw/heard the name, was a japanse fighting game (at least, I think it is. Maybe it's a softporn film, I can't really remember). That leads me to believe that BioWare is trying to lure in the anime/hentai/mange/jrpg fans.RiverRat wrote...

This is one DLC that's not going to even get into my home network. Even if it's free. Even if a patch is included that removes planet scanning and gives you 7 different weapons of each kind. Even if it's part of an expansion that adds 120 hours of gameplay. Don't care. She doesn't fit.
Uh... you know she doesn't fit how?
You're an idiot.

Strangely, I also thought of Kasumi from DoA when I first heard the name. However, I'd never really heard anyone imply that this Kasumi is the same Kasumi from DoA, until this thread.

Actually I thought Kahoku was Hawaiian.
But yes... there are a lot references in the weapons too... I think it was Araike Corporation... all of the weapons were named after Japanese arms, katana, nagatina... Heck the katana is still in ME2, the basic shotgun, I think.

Don't forget that Japanese woman (Maeko Matsuo, was it?) who uses Japanese honorifics to describe her superiors...LoweGear wrote...

Even if they are bonus exclusive characters they are still there.
Also DOA4 have Spartan-458 as a unlockable character ... are you keep digging your own grave or are you going to act as your age (I will presume you are old enough to buy a M rated game)?

There's also the Shuriken Machine Pistol too.

Ah, I forgot about her. Hearing her say "Parasinni-san" was like a WTF moment for me, though it did bring a smile to my face.

I'm hearing more talk of how disappointed people are about this character being a human. I don't share said disappointment. I'd just like to have another squadmate. Could change a bit of dialogue here, maybe even the Suicide Mission would change depending on her?
I just like possibilities. Then again, I'm the guy that thought Carth wasn't a whiner in KOTOR so my party member judging abilities may not be too reliable.
Yea, I'm pretty sure Hanar, Elcor and Volus cannot be sneaky thieves. and those are races we're missing

That is not the main issue, the issue is animation.
Everyone on the team uses the same basic humanoid squeleton and have similar height so there are no major issues with weapons, the same applies to enemies outside the few uniques that have their own attacks.
Having a Hanar/Elcor/Volus would mean they would have to ... well be like the FENRIS mechs, there would have NO customization at all.
Of course they could do it but it would take months and the costs involved simply does not justify doing it on a nickle-and-dime system that have to be low cost to start with, such things are done in early development cycle since they will be used in the game several times.
