This is a kind of Morinth-Kasumi crossover funny: I just finished my Renegade playthrough this morning, and continued my game so I could romance Tali (after already romancing Miranda) and hit a few more planets. When I went in to chat with Kasumi -- she's got some of the best lines -- she said something about watching out for Morinth, and I was totally shocked! No one knows that it's Morinth... except, apparently, for Kasumi.

It doesnt make any sense. No one knew samara so good that they could tell the difference, even kelly.

Completely agree. It was one of those moments when I think my jaw actually dropped. I get the feeling this was more of a design oversight than an intentional plot-based thing.

I have one Shepard that I played as the ultimate renegade, making every a-hole choice possible including stabbing Tali in the back at the end of her loyalty mission and ultimately getting her killed, and that guy saved Morinth. It seems like an incredibly dumb thing to do given that she's established as basically a serial killer and you have to hide her true identity from the rest of the crew.

Also, I don't know where the OP sees her as being more developed than Samara, she's got next to no post-mission dialogue. Hate on Samara all you want (personally, I think she's awesome for a number of reasons), but that just doesn't make a lot of sense.

I let Samara live... the first time. This time around, if she tells me she'll have to kill to me after the suicide run before that loyalty mission, I'm picking Morinth. Morinth is simply more dangerous, and dangerous is what's necessary for taking out the collectors.

Honestly, it'd be a nice bit of character development all around if Morinth got revealed for who she was and the crew had to deal with it. That and a mission in ME 3 on an asari world where there's a young Ardat Yakshi who doesn't quite understand what she is yet, and you have to intervene before some trigger-happy justicar kills her and decide whether to send her to a monastary or not. It would be good characterization for both Morinth and Samara, really.

You know more about Morinth than every other squadmember. You know what music she likes, art, travel ect. Would be good to know more about her backstory, but her mother told you a lot about her already.

From a tactical perspective I LOVE Morinth's dominate, and in general I think her personality is a lot more interesting than Samaras (well, for obvious reasons but still :P)

Even so I usually have a hard time choosing; I do like Samara and the air of respectability she has, although I'm not entirely in agreement with the whole "either live a reclusive life or die" situation that Morinth was subjected to.

Either way, getting enough renegade points to simply have the option of obtaining Morinth almost drove me batty, so unless I'm playing a fully renegade Shep I generally stick with Samara.

Morinth is straight up evil, so letting her live especially after trying to kill you makes no sense.

How?

BTW if you play renegade, Samara tells you that after the mission she doesnt want to see you again becasue she would have to kill you.

So for me Morith all the way.

She never said she'd kill you for playing renegade. She said she kill you if you made her do bad things. Since you never do, she won't try kill you.

Easily the strangest choice in the entire game. It's totally unmotivated.

Shepard: "Hey, you JUST TRIED TO KILL ME, so how about I let you kill my teammate and you come along with me. Yeah, that works. Oh, and I might actually let you kill me after the mission."

Letting her live on my evil playthrough was totally worth it though - if only because when she offers to fry your brain one of the options is "No thanks, I'd rather live."

There was a bit of sympathy towards Morinth (due to her last words) but i still pick Samara over her. Plus i dont think Samara is underdeveloped as a character, I liked conversing with the character and i would rather have her loyalty going into the third game than Morinth's (lets face it) Powerful STD.

My first two playthroughs I did not get the option to save Morinth. Putting off doing Samarras quest in the hopes that my Para/Rene score is high enough just to see what Morinth does. Though honestly, I love Samara ('s blouse)

Renegade Shepard is not really a type of guy that is a beacon of justice. It would make perfect sense for Samara to try and kill you once the mission is complete.

Beside, - Morinth is more open minded and have this Femme fatale aura about her! :)

Morinth's a self-obsessed sociopath whose only concern is satisfying her own base desires, something proven by the fact that she'll knowingly sabotage the entire mission and betray Shep by having murdersex with him/her.

I can't see any justifiable reason to choose her over Samara.

Renegade is something that I feel Bioware has done poorly. Renegade should have been more of a chaotic good option, like someone who disregards the rules and the laws if he thinks they're wrong, but instead in ME2 Renegade ranges from being a dick to outright sadistic and evil (a renegade Shep will force an unwilling Jack at gunpoint to murder Aresh in Jack's loyalty mission, etc.)

I wouldn't be surprised if in ME3 renegade Shep could capture people as slaves and force them to kill their own families like Africans do to make child soldiers.

This could be Samara as well.  Samara does what she does to feel good, so does Morinth.  They both kill people along the way.

Actually, she won't fry your brain until after the Suicide Mission is over.

On my main, Samara.

On my renegade character, Samara. Why?

My very first play-through on ME2 was on insanity, and Samara was in the pool of crew members that I always took out on missions (others being Jack Miranda and Grunt). Since it was difficult, I kinda had a relationship with thoes chars (not an unhealthy one).

On my renegade I DID kill Samara, started anoter mission, and just felt BAD about it. So I loaded up a hard save I had before the choice, and chose Samara. None of my playthroughs I choose Morint.

I stick with Samara. I like her stoic, monklike behavior.

Of course they are both insane killing machines, just one is more civil about it.

It's about who they kill. I'd rather have my squad mate kill every criminal she encounters, than to have her seduce innocent people (like girls called Nef) and then kill them by having sex. Even if it makes her feel happy, Samara's killing for the greater good. Morinth only does it for personal gain.

I chose Samara. It seemed kind of obvious when the choice was between her and her serial killer of a daughter. I did pick Morinth once so I could unlock dominate. It was disturbing! Thankfully I hadn't intended on keeping her. I figured I could save before the choice, unlock dominate, then go back to that save and choose Samara. That worked, dominate unlocked just fine. ;)

Never heard samaras comment about the varren fights on tuchanka? That she want to teach the krogans empathy and would need a lot of bullets for it??
Samara isnt such an easy choice...

I gotta agree with Yrithe. Morinth is annoying. She is a hipster doofus. All into that 'expel' band, probably constantly mentioning how she liked them WAY before they became popular, how she's the only asari around with these cool shoes, blah blah...
