Like many ME fans i was shocked when i found out what the actress who plays Ashley looks like.  So shocked that i couldn't believe it so i dug around and i found this video interview that features her.

You can see her at around 1:29 and if you listen closely she totally sounds like Ashley.

I learned never to be surprised with how talented voice actors are. You can create an image in your head but you know it will never be at all accurate. Like when you first find out Bart Simpson is voiced by a female.

Or when you learn that the Joker is voiced my Mark Hamill.  Image IPB

It doesn't change my appritiation for Ashley, i just had to hear her voice coming from the actress' mouth.

I seriously hope that is some joke that I'm not getting... Joker is voiced by Seth Green of Robot Chicken and FGuy fame.

It's often jarring to see voice actors in real life, since you always expect their voice to go with the characters they voiced. Dee Bradley Baker, or Melissa Disney or Jim Cummings, or Kevin Michael Richardson or Grey Delisle are all examples of voice actors who do so many different roles, that it's often jarring to see what they look like in real life. Especially Baker or Richardson, since they do so many differing roles with various different voices.

its also like how the ME character Anderson who's voice actor, Keith David, is black

it doesn't matter what they look like, just if they can pull of a good voice for the character
see here

She did a great job as Ashley. One of my favorite characters from ME. I don't always agree with her views but the voice acting is very well done. Believable character.

In mass effect most people look from mix decent nobody looks full anything which most people believe the future will be a melting pot 500 years from now i dont believe nobody will be able to say there pure anything if they can even now...remember always look at feature of person skintone doesnt mean a thing williams has wavy black hair and full lips and a normal light red skintone you either get from mixture from usually a race of color but her nose is narrow which usually is from white or indian race they have simliar noses...also shepard blue eyes usually white but has full lips and wide nose and very rough nappy facial and head hair from usually black or latino if your having trouble picturing this in reality look at vin diesel looks pretty much just like shepard and play simliar roles in films he is half white and half black his skintone is white but has black features nose, hair and lips

Yeah, I was quite stunned when I found out who she was too (I saw a picture of her on a Comic-con panel once) and now, every time I hear Ashley I totally see her reading the lines ^^

She's such an amazing voice actress. To me, she really stuck out in ME which is quite a feat.

I always thought she voiced Jack in ME2 but I guess I was wrong. They sound very similar though.

Yeah, I was just about to ask why they didn't just make her black, then.  But I guess intolerant white women are less offensive than intolerant black women in the media?

It's amazing how people pretend to not be racist or prejudiced. It wouldn't suprise me at all if the little popularity that Ashley had to begin with dissipated into the wind now that everyone knows she is voiced by an original woman.

Considering there's still an active Ashley Williams thread 4 months later after the original post, I don't see why you have to accuse people who posted 4 months ago of prejudice.
