Wow, a shooting range with a caliber limit? Is it because the bullet backstop cant handle the larger calibers?
I am lucky, I have a shooting range about 1 hour away, sadly its limited to 100 meters but I can blast away with muzzleloaders and centerfire up to .338 or 8x57IS.
It's exactly that I believe. The indoor ranges are situated in urban, business type areas so they won't take anything like that. The nearest true outdoor range is up in the Angeles mountains which is about 1.5 hours north of Los Angeles. And it takes me another hour to 1.5 hours to get through LA since I live in Long Beach. (SW edge of the county.)
Edit: What I mean by "true" outdoor range, since I mentioned I trap shooting and that is obviously an outdoor thing, is a place that allows the firing of all types of guns outdoors. Prado Olympic Shooting Park allows handguns inside stalls with dirt backdrops at 10-25 meters only and shotguns outside only for trap and skeet. Too many farms in the area. Riverside county CA...
We had a beautiful military 1000+ meters shooting range located in a dale surrounded by mountains - which was open to civilians, but thanks to our stupid government cutting the budget of our army it was closed not too long ago.
Such a shame, Imagine the fun I had shooting silhouettes at up to 600 meters with open sights.
Could they not have turned it into a pay shooting range? Wouldn't that have been a way to pay for it?
