I learned to drive (stick shift) the moment my feet reached the pedals, at 12 yrs old. I bugged my father untill he taught me in an old Fiat 147
untill now (i'm 29) i've been in pretty crazy situations while driving that some are a little hard to believe, but i assure you, i have no reason to lie here
- i dodged a falling tree during a storm
- i drove a VW beetle on a flood untill it floated away and the firemen rescued me (car worked perfectly afterwards)
-When in the army i lied about knowing how to drive a truck (never even touched one), i made the off-road test and they were so pleased they made the paperwork to get me a proper license (cars and trucks use different licenses).
- i had a tire blowout at 90mph and somehow held the car and stopped safely
- i was able to drive on a gravel road with so much mud that a jeep got stuck while i drove a Ford Del Rey
- one time the accelerator cable of my car broke in the middle of nowhere, i strapped my shoelaces to the carburetor lever and drove almost 250 Km accelerating with my left hand, lol.
- in other time i was able to replace the broken alternator belt with pantyhose (broke down close to a supermarket, no car parts store nearby)
i also got involved in 2 big crashes:
- while driving a chevette i was hit by other car who passed the red light with such force that my car flew across the road (according to witnesses), resulting in total loss. I was so uninjured i actually tried to punch the other driver, lol
- driving another chevette (love this little car) in the gravel (almost 60mph) i hit a stone that broke the car's suspension, making in flip several times. i ended in the backseat (wasn't wearing seatbelt) and had to exit by breaking the rear window using one of the car's speakers. (again, unscathed)

Those are great car stories. Did you get to punch out that other driver?
I especially liked the one about strapping shoelaces to your car's carburetor. Ingenius quick thinking. I gotta say though... not sure how safe I'd feel being a passenger in your car.
Well, i'm actually glad that the people didn't let me hit the other driver, when i was able to see straight i noticed he was injured and was really old. When the paramedics arrived they asked me how was the other car's (my car) driver. When i said it was me, the doctor was like
Aww, i think you would like to be my passenger, i assure you it will be an unforgettable experience (i love rallying so you can have an idea of how is like)
I really don't know if i have good or bad luck regarding cars

Unforgettable? I have a feeling that's true.
I'd say good luck. Your stories skew in that direction even if a few of those events are, well, crazy.
lol, i actually had to kind of "re-learn" how to drive properly so i could carry my mom around (she has a weak heart), when she's with me i "drive like a priest" :innocent:

I made a promise to get a bath in the biggest rivers of the world. So far; I have covered Nile, Danube, Rhine, Sena and Mississipi. Ganga, Yangtse, Congo and Amazonas are still pending so this could be a good trick to try my driving skills in India.

You will love Amazonas, just beware of pirañas. But it's a really nice place

Now; seriosly, I haven´t reached the Caribbean or South (Central too) America; so that´s a subject I should pass some day.
Seagloom; I have also seen some other not that great things I missed in the past years and now I have a somewhat grief mood and sense of guilt that feels horrible. Another dot to add in the regrests list. But well, I´m not omnipotent nor omnipresent...

I broke my finger today while playing floorball. I just love sports, yay....
It actually does hurt like h*ll, though...
Swinging the sticks like maniacs are you?
Not really, although I did manage to whack my own ankle with my stick..
And the finger, well....my teammate stepped on my hand (by accident) while I was rising up. I don't even know why it broke, but it broke good. In hospital, they had to open up the finger to put the bones back together.
And the neat thing? It's my left hand's middle finger...and I'm left-handed <_<
But I do use my mouse with my right hand, I can still play dragon age! Yay!
@Statulos: If you want a weird driving experience, try driving in spain!
Canary Islands were...horrible places to drive...

It´s very true that driving over there is kind of weird; but people from there (canariones, chicharreros, gomeros and so on) are far from the average driver. In Castilla people drive far better, but maybe that´s becase we don´t have active volcanos while they do...
Still, Las Palmas is not nearly close to Cairo, belive me.

Canarias, especially Hierro and Gomera compensate for that by themselves.

Weird crap of the day: I have discovered that one of my ex-gf´s is now a new born Christian and is married... When we were together things were like basicaly the opposite.
I went through something similar once, years back. Except it was in all ways reversed. The guy was religious, very proper, and an excellent student. Circumstances led to his moving. When I met him again he was completely different. He had piercings and tattoos everywhere I could see, dyed hair, and became a drug addicted womanizer. It's like he just snapped.
What did you do to him?

I wish. If only I had enough influence on the lives of my friends that I could prevent things like that from happening. I have my idea why he went that route, but it's highly doubtful my presence, or lack thereof had anything to do with it.
Yeesh! Talk about making yourself sound insignificant!

I've never seen myself as as significant influence on anyone's life. One, maybe two family members tops. Those around me tend to do what they want to do; regardless of my input. I accepted long ago that it's better to underestimate than overestimate. I'm disappointed far less that way.
Your friends don't need to do everything you suggest for you to have a significant impact on their lives. Ask yourself this: how would their lives be different if you died tomorrow?
