Female superheroes tend to suck; at least, most of the classics. OK, OK, we have Elektra, but that´s a Frank Miller creation and it´s not by chance that other fave girl is Miho (from Sin City).Seagloom wrote...
Gah... Power Girl. I remember when I first heard of her watching an episode of Buffy several years ago. I looked her up online and thought to myself she was a weaker version of Supergirl with a more unique outfit and hairstyle, but some of her power channeled into her breasts. Because geez they're excessive, even for comics.

I like Batman, but not really anything else. Superman is just pants IMHO.
I think we're getting into a phase where it's generally athletic women who are the superheroines now in Western comics, and it makes a lot of sense. I would like to see some slightly bigger women in comics for some added realism (I could see Squirrel Girl being a nice build).
Anime/Manga is something I rapidly outgrew. I liked Hellsing, but that was about it for me. It's really just poor plots and ridiculous characters, that I saw. The women are either hypersexualised or they're bordering on "should they even be doing that?".
When she quotes Oscar Wilde with the "rumours about my death were... exagerated" or when she just smiles and puts on the mask after V is dead are two of the best moments in the history of comic.Seagloom wrote...
I really wish Clamp finished X. Still weeping over that one. Most of the manga and anime I like is pretty old, but Steel Moon is right. There are a few gems out there but they are very rare. It's why I tend to watch one series every three years or so. It was a lot better in the 90s, when I was saturated with decent choices.
@Statulos - Oh come on. I can't count Alan Moore. The man is a literary author masquerading as a comic writer.I was thinking mainstream titles.
Fortunately you can read and watch online for free, if you're so inclinedOnlyShallow89 wrote...
Once I get a job I might pick it back up as a hobby, but for now? Not really something I can afford to do.

Take that back! I really enjoyed V for Vendetta (the film), and as an Englishperson it's not that hard to believe happening.Statulos wrote...

BTW, did I say that the film sucks and it´s just a holiwood politicaly correct piece of ****?
Will you hate me if I tell you that I love sick stuff: from Peter Jackson´s old gore films to hentai?Seagloom wrote...

Hentai is the most hilarious porn I have ever seen. And also among the sickest too; often times at the same moment.
I wasn't even thinking hentai. Just run of the mill anime. Hentai is plain sick. Not much else needs to be said.

I've not, however, read the comic so I can't say how faithful it is.

Hentai is harder to accept. Some of it is tolerable because it's practically softcore, but there's many of them that are indefensible, sorry. I'd go into further detail on why and which type I mean, but you probably know the answers to that and I don't want to get this thread locked.
Only? That´s kind of soft compared to the really grusome stuff you can find out there. There are really few things in this world that make my stomach upside down but some Hentai really does.Godak wrote...

In 8th grade, two kids were talking about Hentai. Being the innocent child I was, I asked them what it was. They quickly told me to "Google it!". Big, big mistake!
I mean, really? TENTACLES?!

Heh, more education than you wanted, right? If it's a questionable word and I've somehow managed to escape 29-ish years of not hearing it, I usually look it up on urban dictionary. Off on a tangent....the other day, our church secretary posted on her facebook that she'd looked up her name on urban dictionary, and she wrote what her name meant according to their site. Fortunately, she found a clean definition. I had to message her and explain what urban dictionary really was.Godak wrote...
