She's probably considered "flat chested" by the Japs, though. What with their double-decker bus size- breasted superheroines with swords the size of a blue whale.

Power Girl's probably a really good read... Nah, she's DC. Make Mine Marvel!

Gah... Power Girl. I remember when I first heard of her watching an episode of Buffy several years ago. I looked her up online and thought to myself she was a weaker version of Supergirl with a more unique outfit and hairstyle, but some of her power channeled into her breasts. Because geez they're excessive, even for comics. :P

Female superheroes tend to suck; at least, most of the classics. OK, OK, we have Elektra, but that´s a Frank Miller creation and it´s not by chance that other fave girl is Miho (from Sin City).
Morover, when Devon Aoki performs her I just meeeeeelt down in my seat.

Painkiller Jane is quite fun too.

Hentai is the most hilarious porn I have ever seen. And also among the sickest too; often times at the same moment.

I like Batman, but not really anything else. Superman is just pants IMHO.
I think we're getting into a phase where it's generally athletic women who are the superheroines now in Western comics, and it makes a lot of sense. I would like to see some slightly bigger women in comics for some added realism (I could see Squirrel Girl being a nice build).
Anime/Manga is something I rapidly outgrew. I liked Hellsing, but that was about it for me. It's really just poor plots and ridiculous characters, that I saw. The women are either hypersexualised or they're bordering on "should they even be doing that?".

Batman is the paragon of superhero-dom IMHO.

As for anime, Hellsing is great (Especially the new Hellsing Ultimate series they're in the midst of now).  But other than that, maybe you aren't watching the right titles.  There is alot of crap out there just like with any genre, but there are many that are really good and that I would argue are better than alot of the programming on American TV at any rate.

@Steel Moon

Batman is great and I might pick up a few graphic novels of the darker stuff at some point. I generally don't read comics because (currently) I've no source of income and they're bleedin' expensive here, so I wait for the GNs to come out.

It's also partially 'cos I'm in England so sometimes it can cost a lot to get anything imported in. It was costing me a fair amount of money to get even a few Hellsing mangas so I gave it up very quickly. The first anime series they did I got most of for cheap (never got the last volume before I sold them) but I just wasn't willing to put that amount of money into it.

Once I get a job I might pick it back up as a hobby, but for now? Not really something I can afford to do.

I really wish Clamp finished X. Still weeping over that one. Most of the manga and anime I like is pretty old, but Steel Moon is right. There are a few gems out there but they are very rare. It's why I tend to watch one series every three years or so. It was a lot better in the 90s, when I was saturated with decent choices.

@Statulos - Oh come on. I can't count Alan Moore. The man is a literary author masquerading as a comic writer. :P I was thinking mainstream titles.

When she quotes Oscar Wilde with the "rumours about my death were... exagerated" or when she just smiles and puts on the mask after V is dead are two of the best moments in the history of comic.

BTW, did I say that the film sucks and it´s just a holiwood politicaly correct piece of ****?

Fortunately you can read and watch online for free, if you're so inclined :)
http://www.onemanga.com/
http://dubhappy.com/ (I know you can get subs online too, but this is the site I use to check out series to see if they're worth buying)

Take that back! I really enjoyed V for Vendetta (the film), and as an Englishperson it's not that hard to believe happening.
I've not, however, read the comic so I can't say how faithful it is.

I wasn't even thinking hentai. Just run of the mill anime. Hentai is plain sick. Not much else needs to be said.

Will you hate me if I tell you that I love sick stuff: from Peter Jackson´s old gore films to hentai?

I do not. Because:
-V is an anarchist, he refeers to what he´s doing as bringing Vervirrung from which Orndung can rise (that´s Rudolph Rocker, by the way).
-Evey is a 16 year old kid who is forced to be a prostitute to be able to just eat.
-UK is basicaly devastated, even if the rest of the world is even worse.
-They bypassed the dialogue between V and Lady Justice (they way V actually blows the Old Baily)
-The last BOOOM is Downing Street.
-V does not sing Sympathy for the Devil when killing Lillyman.

And those are only some of the reasons why the film sucks. They turned an amazin, multi-fateted work into a cunsmption piece of pseudo-liberal crap.

V never stood for the Union Jack, he stood for the Black Flag.

Hentai is harder to accept. Some of it is tolerable because it's practically softcore, but there's many of them that are indefensible, sorry. I'd go into further detail on why and which type I mean, but you probably know the answers to that and I don't want to get this thread locked.

In 8th grade, two kids were talking about Hentai. Being the innocent child I was, I asked them what it was. They quickly told me to "Google it!". Big, big mistake! Posted Image

I mean, really? TENTACLES?! Posted Image

Soooooooo much variation in Hentai. Some of it is just naked people doin' stuff. Thats fine. But having absoloutly no limits on what you can draw leads to the most depraved crap possible.

Only? That´s kind of soft compared to the really grusome stuff you can find out there. There are really few things in this world that make my stomach upside down but some Hentai really does.

Heh, more education than you wanted, right? If it's a questionable word and I've somehow managed to escape 29-ish years of not hearing it, I usually look it up on urban dictionary.  Off on a tangent....the other day, our church secretary posted on her facebook that she'd looked up her name on urban dictionary, and she wrote what her name meant according to their site.  Fortunately, she found a clean definition.  I had to message her and explain what urban dictionary really was.
