Hmm, what really helps is writing your dreams down, I did that just out of curiousity, I still have my dreams in my head after waking up for half an hour.
And I died, died died and died in great spectacular and soemtimes dumb ways always with other people I know and dont know.
I choked on smoke from a fire, smashed my face on the floor, I got my back hit by a club in a hand to hand combat and died from that (that really hurt even in my dreams) I got shot, run over, but mostly I just drown in a river full dirty murky and cold brown-greenish water.
Always with great visuals and CGI, as example as I was dreaming that I smashed my head I really saw pieces and arteries of my brain coming out of my scull as I was still alive. Posted Image

Well either it is some metaphorical picture, that shows reflections of your subconscious.

Or -thats most of the time- your subconscious just washes itself from all the sh*t we gather every day, by watching action-movies, playing games, doing/seeing strange stuff etc.

But when you get it so clearly shown and so many times this "theme" shows up AND you also remember it clearly i wouldnt ignore it. A Psychotherapist can help wit some hints, or some self-recherche is also useful.

In your subconscious "death/violence" could mean something compleeeetely different, then -i.e.- mine.
But something this strong surely isnt without reason coming again and again AND being realized AND remembered by you.

Huh, does it really sound that bad, I never even labeled those dreams as nightmares as I am pretty used to them.
Some stuff to think about, maybe you're right and should things get checked by a doc.

Well a doc would be a BIG mistake! :D
Its like asking a Soccer-Coach about Football tactics  *g

I think its a good sign, when you dont have "nightmares" by this, but can see this relaxed.
This shows, that you arent forcing this down or ignoring it; i you would, the nightmarish effect would be even unhealthy (psychosomatics etc.)
Some googling and checking about dreaming would be ok. If there is sth. interesting you can check it more.

I don't really die all that often in my dreams, but it does happen occasionally.  More often than not I wake up first.

The odd dream I had the other night was sort of like a play within a play within a dream.   I was an actor playing a playwright who was terminally ill but had forgotten that I was dying because I was living vicariously through my play, except that I was suffering from writer's block and so I couldn't seem to finish it.   My actual life and the play I was writing were getting mixed up, and I didn't even recognize my real family.  Then I started getting it all together when my sister told me I was dying, and I realized my priorities were all screwed up.

A lot of dreams are confusing, but most of mine at least seem to make sense at the time.  That one I couldn't even make sense out of while I was dreaming it. But it did leave me wanting to write a play.

A curious one: for some weird reason, most of my friends in the US are people who leads or have led a quite risky life: marines, fire fighters, police officers...

Heh... I appreciate the interest.  Yeah, I would enjoy being able to do justice to a story like that.  Maybe I'll have to give it an honest go sometime.  It did kind of stick in my memory...

And Lilith: that's a pretty cool looking clam!  I don't know if I'd call it bearded so much as fuzzy though...

- I can play a mean game of handball. Thank you city living. :P However, I suck at tennis and I'm not much better at volleyball.

- I once studied shotokai character at a dojo in the city. I'm not sure if they're still around, but in those years it was a bustling place. Of course, I hated taking lessons. I only went because my dad insisted my younger sister and I get in many extracurricular activities at the time. It was during this period I also took japanese language classes, guitar lessons, and learned how to swim. I have a kinda dumb story about said martial arts class but I think I'll save it for another time.

@Noilly Prat - That dream sounds fascinating. It's so convoluted, yet intricate. With the right filling out and attention to detail to fill in gaps, I'd probably enjoy hearing a completed version someday. Or watching it, as it were. :)

? Did you mean Shotokan Karate ??? =]

I just thought of one. I know a guy who is on Survivor right now. He was also on the last one.

I don't follow the show, or really even watch TV, but loads of people I know are really into watching it right now just because he's on it. I've watched some bits of it, just out of curiosity, but that's about all I can handle.
