I was just playing Mass Effect 2 on my 360, was almost prepared to do the final mission then my system fried. God, how hard is it for xbox to make a product that works. This has been the 4th time I've had to get it fixed.

Ouch! I only had it happen to me once, but I was miffed when it did as I was on the final mission on Fallout 3. So yeah I know how frustrating it is for it to happen just before the big moment!
Maybe its a sign for you to actually do reading on your reading week.... nah reading week is just a fancy name for holiday!

Alas, being on a student budget, I couldn't afford a half decent pc now. I'd have to sell my leg or something.

I guess I've just been lucky with my 360. I picked it up when the first Mass Effect came out and no problems... yet.

One of my best friends has seen the dreaded Red Ring of Death thrice now. Perhaps more. I stopped counting after three. From what he tells me Microsoft messed up in designing the 360. It heats up very easily for some reason or other related to its design. I can't remember. I feel your pain though. Dealing with a system failure at endgame *sucks*. The same thing happened to me with Jade Empire years ago on the previous console generation's Xbox. My system died right after the game's big plot twist. It was so far gone I had to buy a replacement console and start over. Like with the 360, Microsoft cut corners. In that case it was their choice of Thompson DVD drives not standing up to wear and tear after a year or two. Hope you can get your 360 repaired soon. :/

Well, would it be worth it?

I'd do it.
Better to be a peg-legged Pirate wannabe with an amazing PC than an unfortunately healthy chap with a doubly unhealthy 360, I always say.

My deepest condolences. Not even kidding, pretty much verbatim that happened to be during my first run of ME1. I had the shakes.

That's partly what bugs me. I had mine fixed right after the holidays, came back the week before Mass Effect 2 and died again today. Less than 2 1/2 weeks.

That's why Xboxes suck. Get a PC(if your budget allows, of course)
