Kelly telling me she would feed my damn fish & me coming back a few missions later to see "Clean dead fish". WTF Kelly.

That means they were already dead when she offered.  Yes, she probably should have cleaned them out for you, but hey, she didn't offer to scoop dead fish out of a tank, only feed them ;).

I already deduced that the Protheans became the Collectors. Harbinger and his stupid hints. "We are your genetic destiny!", "If I must tear you apart Shepherd, I will!". Killed it. -_-

Most shocking:

My bathroom

omg my fish are dead!

Garrus! More of a "yay" moment.

Finding out that in the distant future we can travel at speeds vastly faster than light.

We can rebuild a long dead corpse and necrosis won't have destroyed mental capacity.

Networked alien AIs can be our friends.

The most advanced spaceship the human race has ever built has a hyper advanced AI... BUT IT CAN'T FEED MY DAMNED FISH.

Also... The recruit Tali mission on Insanity with an adept was amazingly satisfying.

Well my first one would defiantly be the intro the destruction of the normandy, abit wrenching seeing sheppard get spaced, the ship blown up and Sheppards dead body falling towards a planet:(

Well, people already covered some moments that shocked me but I'll list some that got me. Here are some off the top of my head (but there were more).

1) Colonist Lilith getting melted to goo (darn right I was ready and went through in time and saved my crew!)

2) EDI never tried to double-cross me

3) Tali's sadness over finding her father dead AND getting to hug her! That was a pleasant shock!

4) Ilum in general

--a) finding out about the problems that the Zhu's Hope colony have now and how Shiala's pigment AND biotics are messed up now. Then seeing Shiala make a pass at me. The last bit was unexpected (but nice!)

--B) getting a kiss from a certain Noverian Internal Affairs lady. unexpected but nice

--c) the Quarian/Turian discussion in the Eternity bar. my reaction was about the same as the Turian's, heh

--d) Krogan POETRY! egads! (nicely done for the impact it had)

The quarian recording was pretty grim. Also Tali finding her father was pretty moving too.

Prothean Collectors. This was the only cool spoiler in ME2.

When Harbinger turned out to be a Reaper rather than the Collector General. I mean, before the game came out I had my suspicions, since his name and voice were very Reaper-like... but all the cinematography when he was introduced in-game was VERY suggestive that he was the Collector General.

I also found Harbinger being a Reaper to be quite a shock, although the biggest surprise was seeing the full extent of the Reaper fleet in the final cutscene.

That and the amazing adventures of Commander Shepard and the mysterious bathroom of mystery... don't read too much into that.

Mass Effect has really a weak main story.
Its good, that the side quests are better.
Mass Effect 1 main story was stellar compared to this.

And the Nassana Dantius story was also a joke.Did i miss some emails??
Why she ordered to kill her workers and who was the one that ordered the assasination??
Total nonsense.

The "main" plot in ME2 is more of a Mcguffin to drive Shepard and company to move through all the other plots, than it is meant to take center stage.  It's just there to be a background motivator for the rest of the game as you explore the squad, and they are developed rather well.  They're the real focus of the game in the end.

And if you listen to Thane she's the last person involved in the death of his wife.

No offense, but that was pretty short-sighted of you. I kept my art book under an encylopaedia until I'd completed the game.

The Prothean/Collector revelation really didn't shock me. In fact, it's an idea I'd entertained after running into Vigil on Ilos way back when. It'd have been a lot more shocking if they hadn't of gone into too much detail about the Keepers in ME1.

For me, the biggest shock I think was Legion. Completely unexpected.

ME2 for me was more of a confirmation. Not just of the resolution of past events, but also my suspicions on how the plot was going to take shape. Even so, the game was entertaining enough that it kept my interest and has me anxiously awaiting ME3.

No she wasn't, he killed the last person involved in her death ten years before ME2. Thane decided to kill Nassana simply because she was a nasty person with lots of protection, and he had resigned himself to death. He was trying to atone for his life as an assassin.

To answer tonnactus' question, Nassana killed her workers because she knew an assassin was coming for her and she was paranoid, and ordered her copious mercenary forces to clear out the building with lethal force. Any workers who didn't get out fast enough were gunned down.

-Collectors = Protheans??? So they're *not* sterotypical insect aliens? Holy bawls!

-So *that's* what they're using humans for. Great.

With all that went on being pretty well signposted the only real surprise was that I had a bathroom and had apparently bought the most feeble fish ever.

Do mission...

FEED FISH

Go Shopping...

FEED FISH

Save civilisation (again)...

FEED FISH

You're right, my bad.  I'm tired and remembered the discussion wrong.  It was just part of his whole "I want to make the galaxy better after all I did" thing.

Biggest shock was seeing what travesty could be done to the ME plot by switching around writers.

Liara, Nassana, The Council, etc. So much terrible writing and plot holes it almost made my head explode.

But at least the squad members, side quests, and combat was good enough to get me through and make me feel as though it was a good game!
