No, I am just kidding. I would go for Danny Boyle, I have great respect for the man and he has proven that he can make even the most overused of settings seem fresh.

You'd rather have Lucus instead of Cameron? George Lucus is by far worst, and hasn't made a good movie since the Empire Strikes Back.mnrqz wrote...

Ridley Scott or George Lucas.
James Cameron are you kidding me?
The movie under Cameron would end up being some kind of hippy left-wing moral of a movie, besides....
Cameron has a distaste for gamers.
“We were showing that Grace doesn’t care about her human body, only her avatar body,” Cameron said. Augustine’s destructive behavior “is a negative comment about people in our real world living too much in their avatars, meaning online and in video games.”
So he basically just slapped you and RPGs in the face and challenged you to a messy duel.
Besides Avatar kinda blew, he muddled it with his own leftist political messages, since when did the Taliban become blue people with bows and arrows? but I suppose he would be better off just copy and pasting the script of mass effect as he did with Avatar.

George Lucas is the fall guy at best, frankly my other choice directors would most likely not like to indulge in a science fiction movie, Scorcese, Eastwood, Coens, Nolan etc. The guy from the LOTR movies might be able to make it work, or his protege (District 9)
But yes, I would rather have George Lucas than Cameron. Cameron hasn't made a good movie since Terminator, and even he managed to make it an estrogen-fest of "Z0mg all war is t3h evil" once Judgement day released.

George LucAS did not make EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.
In fact, his relationship with Gary Kurtz started to sour over many of the decisions made for this sequel - notably in regards to the tone and choice of director - and broke over RETURN.
But that's a story for another time.

And he should play the Illusive Man.
Ok, if I had to choose seriously, then Ridley Scott. Cameron and Spielberg are just mainstream pleasers.
Blade Runner+Alien=Win.
Mass Effect has too much of Blade Runner included already, so Ridley would be the best option in my opinion.

I skipped a page of this thread, so I'm not sure if it was mentioned (probably not), but perhaps
Christophe Gans. I can't say I know much about his work, but he directed the Silent Hill adaptation, and I have always stood by the opinion that it was one of--if not the--best video game adaptations ever. But it would depend on his ability to handle sci-fi for one, and having a chance to play the games as he did with SH, for another.
In any event, any potential director or writer should be REQUIRED to play the entire series.

Tarantino's movies aren't about "bloody violence"... your average action movie has more blood and violence than Tarantino's movies... his movies are about dialogues, sheesh, I'm so tired of this Tarantino myth <_<Karlojey wrote...

I agree with those two statements in particular.kariod wrote...
On the whole, I would agree with the many suggestions of Ridley Scott. Mass Effect in a Blade Runner style sans the noir element (which was practically removed in the Director's Cut, anyway) would be amazing. That said, I also agree with the idea that it should be full CGI, and any characters from the game series should be voiced by the same actors.

JJ Abrams or Christopher Nolan.
This!!! - The other big names mentioned are good but I think their visions might detract from ME lore.
Ridley Scott over James Cameron if they went with mega director.
Antoine Fuqua could do it as if they save all the loot for effects

What does Leon has to do with a dark sci-fi? If you said Fifth Element you'd have been a lot closer to what Luc Besson's Mass Effect movie would look like.Garndell wrote...
With the major focus on chartacter & story, it could only be Anthony Minghella; may he rest in peace, but since that's impossible i'd say Luc Besson, after all he directed & wrote Leon.

I honestly hope it'll never be made - I don't think I've ever seen a good game to movie adaptation.
