Above is all the System Info, as well as a copy of what it says in the box that shows up when ME2 Crashs and I get the Corasponding window to pop up when it crashes.  I been having this happen a lot as of late, since I reduced my Resultion to get past a problem I was having where in I was unable to targert enemies or allies or usable.

Currently I am in the Vent control room on Omega for the Mission to get Mordin Solus, where you plant the cure and turn on the fans.

EDIT: Starting to think ME2 Knows when I post on this forum...cause once I do the problems like to sneak away.... :pinched:

Edit 2: And Once it makes me think the problem is done and over with, it crops back up again <_<

Hmmm Try reducing your Graphics like I am, might be cause of levels of effects in certain spots causing it. As when it starts to happen and I turned my Graphics down I stop hitting into this issue, turn them up and it works for a while, until I seem to get to a plant or room or what ever that has something its not liking. Not sure if this is the problem but, seems at least a way to make it work around what ever is the issue.

Sounds like your memory is leaking which might cause the program to crash to prevent your computer from crashing. There must be some specific settings hogging the resources and bottle necking your system. I would point to your video card. I have a 4870 with a Q6600 and 2.5GB of RAM and never had the game crash on me ever.

I played it on Vista and now I'm on XP. You could definitely use a video card upgrade.

How would I know for sure I have a Memory leak? and if I can confirm I have a Leak how do I go about taking care of it?

Also is my Video card that out of date? I bough this PC cause it said its a Gateway Multimedia Powerhouse, built for things like playing games such as Mass Effect 1 and ideally ME2.

I had the same problem, If you have Mass Effect 1, de authorize it, back up your saves to another folder, and uninstall. do not keep settings or saves (that's why you back them up to another file location.) after that, it worked fine for me. I figured it out by going through my own timeline of program installs on my computer. My ME2 crashes started at the same time I installed ME1. ( i got a new hard drive, and imported my saves from a backup without installing ME1) My guess is that somewhere in ME2, there is a wrong filepath indicated in the engine settings, probably a typo as the documents folder for ME1 and ME2 differ only by one character ("Mass Effect" and "Mass Effect 2") after a given amount of time, the game will look at the wrong folder and crash.

my guess might be wrong, but the solution works for me.

Check the task manager and see how much of the processor it's using, i have a Core 2 Duo and this game uses 100% of both my cores even in the menu and it's a high probability that this is what's causing my crashes/sys restart/even BSOD from time to time. (only happens in ME and ME2, and that's weird).

Hmm Okay I will look into both of these ideas possibly.

On another Note I have been having it at times give me a "No Disk" Remark before it crashes. Not a normal "Please change to Disk 2" kind of message but it saying there is no disk in at all. I have tried putting in Disk 2 if it seems to read like it wants disk 2, opened and closed it with Disk one in my CDRom when it acts like it wants Disk on, right after I do neither and click the try again button I crash. Same if I push the Cancel or Continue options.

I will try and get a pic of this box next time it pops up, but has any one got a similar message in connection to a crash??

______________________

Again after going 8 days with out this issue and updating to the 1.01 Patch, I now once again are getting hit with a sudden crash. Once again I have provided what information I am getting from the Windows Box that pops up when it crashes. Again I get the box twice.

This time it is occuring on the first part of the Sucided Mission, when my Tech Spec is in the vent and my Fire team is in route.  First time it crashed was when I had the third gate removed from the path in the bent, the second time its crashed is a short time after I removed gate 6 from my Tech specialists path.

Also I have checked to see if I am having a Memory leak, which it does not seem to be a issue as the game is taking about 40-50 percent when running of my 4 Gs of ram on my Quad Core PC.

______________

Again I just hit a crash, again I get the box responding to the crash twice, again I get the same Data above.

This time I am fighting the Human Reaper thing, after destroying the Tubes and telling TIM to shove it where the sun doesn't shine and setting the Collector Base to blow the heck up.

I'm having the same problem with the game crashing on the Quarantine load screen. Same error messages and nothing from EA to solve it yet. I've updated my nVidia drivers, reduced the screen resolution, turned all the graphics settings down to lowest and still the same crash. In short I've done everything EA say I need to do to solve it. Seems like a bug to me. Come on EA, hurry up and sort it out!

For anyone following along with "Me, too!" comments into this thread, know this:

The OP is chasing a chimera, and should never expect anything but difficulties, from having ignored the game's System Requirements.  Here is the pertinent part:

"Video Card = 256 MB (with Pixel Shader 3.0 support). Supported GPU Chips: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or greater; ATI Radeon X1600 Pro or greater. Please note that NVIDIA GeForce 7200, 7300, 7400, 7500, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, 9200, and 9300; ATI Radeon HD 2400, 3100, 3200, HD 3450, HD 3470, HD 4200, and HD 4350 are below minimum system requirements. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required. Intel  and S3 video devices are not officially supported in Mass Effect 2."

An X1600 Pro was an actual Mainline Video Card at one time.  The HD 3450 never was, not when new, and not two years later.  It is named as inadequate in the requirements, and it is so slow that the basic environmental interaction system fails with it because the video card feedback mechanism isn't interacting in a timely manner.

Very basic discussion of video cards, video chips, and even of laptops' limits
