Whenever I look at the default Shep I see him as the renegade, mainly because of the "Commander Shepard is a Jerk" video. I've just become used to my Shep and can't change to the default.

It's annoying to read people's narrow minded, ignorant comments that the default Shepard is the only one that fits the male voice. My personalized Shepard fits the voice work to a T.

Bioware needs to take a note from Fallout 3's character creator. I use a personalized face.

I have two playthroughs right now.

My first is a customized female paragon shep.

My second is the default male shep as a renegade.

I can create good looking females fine, but I can't as of yet, seem to create any male worth looking at. Nor do I like any of the male ones on masseffect2faces.com

I just can't play as a custom male Shepard. All males I make look like as they were beaten with a bat with nails on it. Simply put- all of my creations are abominations, so yeah, default Shepard is The Shepard which I always use.

We can't do a better Shepard than the default because the game don't give many options of customizations.

I did a very good custom Shepard, but he doesn't look cool as the default.

And are there a default female Shepard? If yes, then she is horrible!

All of the custom Shepards I have seen look ugly as sin.

I use the default because I, like many other people on this thread, can't make a decent MaleShep to save my life. I have made many, but after about an hour or so I grow to hate them. FemShep on the other hand is always custom.

Default Shepard is the best, custom Shepards all suck.

I've never played default Shepard. I don't like his looks at all! Anytime I see his face, I just try to imagine one of my Shepard's faces in place of his.

I don't know. My male and female Shepard's sounds just fine with the original voice.

I've had:
3 Custom FemSheps
1 Custom MaleShep
1 Default maleshep(Which was my first character).

I used Newgame+ 6 times for the Default shep. Image IPB

My custom MaleSep looks like a pretty cool asian badass(Although the voice doesn't fit) But the default Maleshep is way better.

I always play with the default. The only change I do is change the class. Vanguard is totally awesome.

This is absolutley a matter of individual choice, personally I love creating my own unique characters regardless of what RPG I'm playing. It took me a while to get used to my Sheppard but having played through ME1 and importing him into ME2 I now have a hard time thinking that voice applies to any character other than the one I created which brings me to my only complaint, I realize that with the amount of voice acting work in the game providing multiple voices to choose from would have been a lot to expect but has anyone ever tried creating a dark skinned Sheppard character with that default voice? needless to say it does sound kind of lame. My Shep is dark skinned. You get used to the voice going with the face after a while. Now it fits perfectly and I can't imagine that voice coming out of even the default Shep. It would have been nice if they added a voice pitch editor though.

Hell no. If I'm given custom creation tools, I'm going to damn well use them

Usually in game's where you get a "canon/default" option I tend to take it over custom options (Generally in FF games where you name characters)

But in Mass Effect I can't do that, I MUST have my own shepard, default Shepard isn't TOO bad but god damn some things about his face annoy me, I find him almost too... "Days of our lives" to have him as the Shepard in my story.

I must be one of the few who have actually managed to make a Male Shepard They're pleased with, Sheps voice suits my character so well and I just honestly cannot imagine Shepard any other way.

Than what I created, I'm REALLY happy with my custom Shepard.

That is actually really good.  A problem I have with a lot of default Shepards is that he looks too old.  Shepard is supposed to be 31(in Mass Effect 2) and this one looks his age.

I heard the default maleshep was based on a model. Very strange to me as I think he looks really ugly and not like a soldier at all. My custom maleshep fits the voice much better and looks way better (modeled him on myself :)).

Default femshep is much better, but I change her to look more like Milla :)

Thanks, yeah Default Shepard looks nice and detailed but  I just think something looks unnatural somehow haha. I've had my Shepard for so long that I can't imagine Shepard as anyone but My Shep, who follows the Paragon path generally.

Can't get myself to play default Shepard. It's interesting actually, I've created at least half a dozen male Shepards between ME and ME2, but they all tend to more or less share certain traits: Build, haircolor, beard, and nose. This means that whenever I see the commercial it seems wrong to have "my" Shepards voice on a male model.
