i.e. do gloves plus bow with rapid aim on them both = 2x rapid aim? anyone know if they stack or is one item with rapid aim enough? Also what is the max? does it bug like rogue momentum with haste?

I've only ever heard that rapid aim is not implemented, and doesn't work at all.

Rapid Aim works fine, but no, it doesn't stack. The thing about Rapid Aim is that activating any sustain that slows your attack speed overrides it.

From what I just looked it - it's tiered. There are levels of it.

Based on the item power of the item, it increased the "rapidity". (However, I don't know where you can find that other than in the Toolset).

But it doesn't stack, so having rapid aim gloves and a bow won't combo their bonuses.

As far as I understand it, Rapid Aim reduces only the aiming time of ranged attacks, which is 0.2 seconds for shortbows, 0.3 seconds for longbows and 0.8 for crossbows. Rapid Aim is either -0.2 (on shortbows) or -0.3 seconds (pretty much everything else), which usually reduces the aiming time to 0. And since aiming time can't go below 0, it doesn't even matter if it stacks or not. Well, it would matter for Crossbows, but those are broken and shouldn't be used by anyone. Oh, and it would be nice if you could stack Rapid Aim items to reduce the speed penalty of Aim and Defensive fire but no such luck.

Btw, the item database at gamebanshee lists the exact rapid aim value for most items.

Aren't those numbers per tier? So a tier 5 shortbow would get a -1.0 aim time?

I don't think so. Why would it, anyway? Aiming time can't be negative (unless there's some mystery that allows you to measure negative time), so -0.2 is all you need for a shortbow to have an aiming time of 0.0

Also, Rapid Aim is a special ability like +damage or +defence and those never scale with item tier, even on variable stuff like the warden commander's armor.

Here's some archery timing information I've collected from various places. I have not checked any of this info in the toolset. Please correct me if you spot any errors.

Rapid Aim items give an aim bonus of -.3 seconds with two exceptions: Antique Warden Crossbow improves by -.5 and 'Dalish' rapid aim items improve by -.1. The Rapid Shot talent starts at -.1 sec and scales upward with DEX to a total bonus of -.2 sec reached ~ 50 Dex. Master Archer adds another -.1 sec for a maximum 'Rapid Shot'  bonus of -.3. which would give the following breakdown:

1.5 sec - Aim time for Special shots
1.2 sec - Aim time for 'Aim' and 'Defensive Fire'
1.0 sec - Penalty for heavy/massive armor (massive only w/ Master Archer)
0.8 sec - Crossbows
0.3 sec - Longbows and Antique Warden Crossbow
0.2 Sec - Shortbows and 'Dalish' Longbows
0.1 Sec - 'Dalish' Shortbows
0.0 Sec - Farsong, Falon Din's Reach, Marjolaine's Recurve

*In no case can the aim time drop below 0.0 sec. *

There also two bugs that I'm aware of:
Rapid Aim/Shot + Haste - .8 sec penalty to aim time
Rapid Aim/Shot + Swift Salve - .9 sec penalty to aim time.

Do two 'Rapid Aim' items stack? I have no idea but in practice it doesn't matter. Something like Farsong is already at minimum aim time so adding gloves/hat with "rapid aim' would net you nothing. A non-rapid longbow will reach minimum aim time with only one piece of rapid gear so, again stacking is not needed. Only in the case of crossbows would rapid stacking be of interest. But due to the fact that, as of ver 1.02 they do not gain any attribute bonuses they should be avoided anyway.

Edit: Apparently took way to long to type all this out. Thx, Vader!
