Typically some dude from a gaming magazine who is going to crib about the fact that the player is not fully voiced, while the more appreciative of the two- that would be me- is sitting here venting.

After release hits, it's all business and friendliness goes to Hell and there's nothing left but facts and numbers.
The game of the wait is over and all that remains is the game.
I enjoy the wait more.

Ain't that the truth. A fantastic point, i_b.imported_beer wrote...
What bothers me is that there are a few folks out there already playing the game.

Don't you think we could write better reviews?

I won't be able to get the game until about a week after everyone else...I work on a US Base in Japan:(
Unless my impatience wins out and I cancel my physical CE and get someone to gift it to me over Steam...since they don't offer it here.

At least I have plenty to occupy myself with.

To be honest, it is pretty jarring that the player isn't voiced from the beginnings video I watched. Made worse by the fact that they didn't use the Mass Effect "pre select" dialog style. So you hear dialog. Stop. Choose. Hear dialog responding to nothing you heard.
At least if the ME style dialog was there, we might at least hear it more naturally.
"Do you want to go to the kitchen or the den, Playername?"
-select kitchen-
" "
"Ok, lets go to the kitchen."
vs
"Do you want to go to the kitchen or the den, -select kitchen- Playername? ... Ok, lets go to the kitchen."
I understand what you're saying, but the reviewer is talking about a pretty obvious immersion breaker.

I understand what you're saying, but that's how traditional RPGs were before ME, not to mention it's simply not fair to expect them to hire at the very least six extra voice actors for the PC, we'd lose so much content, it would be depressing.Eoweth wrote...

the worst part about waiting is the fact that none of my other games remotely interest me anymore.
It's after the game is out I'm more concerned. How many will forget to ya know, eat, sleep etc.

look at it this way, in england there are 3 weeks minus 2 days and 1 hour and 30 minutes till it is released. take 3 weeks - thats not too bad.. 3 is a fairly samll number
thats 21 days - ouch.. still now we're talking days i guess 21 isnt TOO bad
thats 21x24=504 hours - ah crap now its getting rediculous
thats 504x60= 30240 minutes - bollox.. and each minute feels like an hour when theres bollox all to do but wait for it do come out >.<
thats 30240x60= 181,440 seconds - any1 gotten that far in their countdown??

Yes. I am sure not having the player voiced is jarring to some. But I found the voiced PC in ME to be an immersion breaker because she sounded nothing like the character I envisioned her to be. Everytime she spoke I cringed. And eventually I muted it during all dialogue options.Eoweth wrote...

Some things have both positive and negative implications. As a reviewer, I would hope they'd be a tad more objective about these features. Or he could have said it was a negative for him and not the game.
