So I am at work and was excited to get home to start messing with this, but wow this sounds complicated, much more than the oblivion tools.  So I figured I would sit back and watch the forum before I start messing with it.  Reading the threads will help me before I start.

Soooo with that said, where are all you first adoptors uploading you mods?  I am very interested in seeing what the community can do.  I really wanted to add to the storyline with new areas, but I want to see what people way more capable than I can do.  So I will finish the game first, then mess with mods.

Please share your creative ideas/items/mods with us all.  Where will we find them?

Click on the "projects" tab at the top of the page and you'll get a list of the projects that are being hosted here on the social site.

If you want to set up a project of your own, create a group and then add projects to it. Hopefully most everyone will choose to host here in one big easy-to-find place. :)

Easy-to-find? I like this site and all, but seriously how are you supposed to sift through all the projects to find a completed module? Is there a way to view just custom models, or just area prefabs, or just custom vfx, or just custom scripts? Is there a way to sort by ranking?

The only way i can tell if a mod is actually there is if the Download below the portrait is an actual link. I have only found one mod on this whole site and that was a mod for less blood. Everything else is just ideas people have for mods. The way it is set up right now is not good at all. I wish i could ignore everything that doesnt have a file to download. Would leave like 5 things there.

Well, the toolset only came out a few hours ago so it's not surprising that there aren't a lot of mods yet. There's some options to sort projects by popularity and type, hopefully over time the projects that are just ideas will sink to the bottom.

Sorting by file availability is a good idea, I'll send that along for consideration if it's not already on the to-do list.

Awesome thanks!!  I like the idea of having it here.

Bryan: many of us have been concerned for a while now by the distribution of community content and find the site presently  inadequate in many ways. Please see this thread for instance.

I for one wonder these days if I will be enthusiastic about modding for DA (when the time comes) if I am not confident my content is able to reach the players efficiently.

I sincerely hope the site's shortcomings for handling distribution will be adressed promptly. These shortcomings  include categorization, searching, upload limits and ranking.

If these issues can't be adressed, then, please, consider reaching an agreement with IGN to create a DAVault.

Relax everybody. Social site is still beta after all. It will get there. Someone will figure a way by the time those mods start coming out in big numbers. I mean we're talking about Bioware guys here...nobody supports community like they do.
Go join the group called "People who think this site is awesome" if you want to make suggested improvements. It's well organized for keeping track of everybody's preferences and ideas about BSN. If you can think of a better way to organize the projects, drop it in there and you may just get your wish.

I cannot stress enough how much better the NWN Vault was for distributing content than this site currently is. Like I said, I really like the format of this site for communication, but it is very lacking for distribution and advertisement of content that requires such a large commitment by modders. Please please please take a good long look at the NWN Vault pages and consider bringing some of those features over here.

Axe: I share your confidence, to some degree. But so far, there has been no indication of the direction in which this site will be taken to ensure efficient distribution. And we've been discussing it for a while now. An official recognition that the site is presently inadequate for this purpose would be a great step at this stage. Indications of the planned improvements could then follow.

Incidentally, I strongly disagree with isolating these discussions in a group discussion. This issue is vital and should be hashed out where people can easily contribute and share their concerns and ideas.

I personally like the idea of a third party site hosting the mods. A DAVault or DANexus would be great. I think the group and project aspects of the page will work but having a dedicated site to distribute mods and do nothing else would be good.

And I’m not saying they would but corporations tend to want to censor the content on their sites. Don’t want to upset Fox news you know.

Don't know what you expect less than a week after release while site is still beta. They certainly know by now that plenty of people are unhappy with the distribution system they came up with. I imagine you haven't heard what direction they are taking because that is still being decided. My guess is that they are in the "gather feedback" stage still at this point. I'm sure when they hit "design improvements" they'll let us in on what will be coming in the "deploy fixes" stage. I'm betting most of thier focus right now is just squashing the bugs in what is already deployed. It would be presumptuous to assume that major site improvements will be coming right away IMO.

There is, and has been for some time now, an official recognition that the site is presently inadequate in the group I pointed to. There is a whole discussion topic there that starts out acknowledging that there is lots of room for improvements, and encourages people to put their observations and ideas up.

BTW I never promoted isolating your criticisms to just that group, tho I suppose re-reading it I can see how what I said could be misconstrued that way. I only pointed out that the group has been set up for the purpose of tracking and organizing suggestions and complaints from users about BSN. By the way, the group was created and is moderated by the Bioware guy mainly responsible for the BSN site, so it follows that you get a very good chance of having your voice heard when you post your ideas over there as well. And its a good place to go to see what everybody else is coming up with so you can throw your vote at one of their ideas if you don't have your own. Also I imagine you can keep abrest of site improvements in the works, once they are actually in the works, there too.

This is a very good example on how to make a good mod site.

To be able to list mods depending on how many downloads they've had is a must.

This website is horrible. I hope someone makes a good, fast, easy-to-browse mod fansite like those for NWN.
