Can anyone confirm whether this (or any of the level one through three) drones can stun lock a Scion?  I know I've used drones on Scions in the past and I don't remember  the Scion getting locked in a stun, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

Though I seem to remember using Explosive Drones on the closer Scion on the Collector ship and it getting destroyed with pretty good regularity while the Attack Drone can stun lock them good, only rarely giving the Scion the opportunity to take it out with its melee AoE.

Sometimes it works, depends on timing. I've tested it on insanity, right now to be sure, Derelict reaper, First Scion; The first explosive drone lasted 5 seconds, destroyed by Scon's attack, Second one lasted 15secs while I took down the scion with my gun.

The same is true for Heavy Vorchas, Heavy blue suns etc, sometimes, if you calculate the timing and the stars align the droned enemy is unable to shoot his/her/it heavy weapon for the entire duration of the drone.

I don't know for ranks 1-2-3, as an engineer my first priority is always the drone so against scions I have it at rank 4. What I know it's that the painlock is inflicted by ADrone and ED alike!

Hope it helps

Do you still have the save on the Derelict Reaper? My Attack Drone there rendered all of the single Scion fights to be cakewalks (and since I turned the double Scion fight into two single Scion fights with a tactical withdrawal...) because once the Attack Drone got on a Scion it was stuck. I made this thread because this experience was so incongruous with my earlier experiences with the Explosive Drone.

Is this stun a flaw with the game's ai or is this part of the drone's function?

Yeah, It's cakewalk, drone + retreat trivializes Scions and even husks, worst of all, if you deploy your drone in the ground, not sending it to anyone, husks get stucked with it many times and don't advance at all. Again, Cain trivializes any encounter. After my first playthough I'm looking a lot of times the gameplay options to see if the game is really on insanity (even without heavy weapons). Scions having Garrus (AP squad armor) and Miranda (Bonus damage) falls pretty fast using incinerates + hand cannon (shotgun-AR-sniper... whatever).

The normal attack of the drones inflicts a short pain-stumble animation to enemies that feels pain (Ymir mechs and Krogans ignore the effect for example). It's the main function of the drone, without this, it would be destroyed in mere seconds by any enemy. Mastering the drone means mastering when to launch to an enemy, you can even use it to interrupt enemies' burst fire, shut down heavy weapon users or make these to kill themselves and their nearby companions. The drone mechanic is really enthralling beyond its apparent simplicity

This is something I'll still need to look in further eventually. There's a Scion not too far in to the Reaper, and a saved game editor can do the rest.

When a Drone is close to a Scion the Scion uses its AoE explosion attack. The Drone's attack can interrupt this attack causing the Scion to stop for a second then try to do it's Explosion attack again. Sometimes your Drone interrupts no attacks, sometimes one (this is the most common), sometimes as many as 3 or 4.
