Im not being nitpicking, its horrendous, when virtually all characters have european names. If there were atleast 10% that didn't. Then I wouldn't have made this thread

still nit picking, What would your rather Jacob be named Kunta Kentaye or Mufasa?

It's not uncommon for black people to have European names, considering most areas with black people where settled and concured by Europeans.

Your also forgeting other characters

Udina

The way I look at it is that Bioware, went away from nationality in the ME universe, as we are all from the earth so no matter what nation we are from we are still all just humans.

Name means nothing i mean Zaeed has a British cockney accent. And it never says where Shepard is from unless your a colonist, Plus you can change his first name.

I love when this keeps coming up. For the AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT ARE IN SPACE...You as Commander Shepard are only interacting with a very small amount of people. I personally don't walk down the street with a check list of people from different backrounds and make sure I talk to a "diverse" amount of people every day.

Be realistic.

You're going to feel stupid when you find out everyone else does.

Obviously, the game was made by North-Americans...

Go play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for a second, a game made by Ukranians, and look at the names of the characters... see the influence of their real life and culture? Yes? No? Of course there will be influences and "limitations" of names and variety. It's like asking a Chinese video game developer to create a game with only occidental / American characters and names... guess what? WON'T HAPPEN.

This OP doesn't realize that in ME: Revelation that David Anderson was revealed to be a mix of ethnicities, he was born in London, but doesn't have an accent, mostly looks African American but has a hint of Western European and Native American in his eyes.

And don't forget about Hendel Mitra from ME: Ascension? Hes a mix of Nordic and Indian ancestries, and raised in the rich area of New Calcutta. He was a major character too.

What does it matter Kaiden is from Siggapore, European names aren't uncommon in most of the world, because most of the world was settled by europeans.

Yes he does, since the OP had read all books, and said the books did a much better job. And it was central european not western.

Ok.....then I demand German and French names! Where are the Müllers, Schmidts, Kellers, Kraus's, Richthofens, Sarkozys, Picards, Cousteaus etc? Give us western Europeans who don't have English names!

......on a more serious note: This topic is as useful as the Turian councillor.

Captain Baily had a light Canadian accent, and he is cool character. I suspect we may be seeing more on him based on one of the end mission reports. Even if it is just a cameo in a DLC or even the next game.

That's not fair. It is also not fair to expect this game to represent every ethnic, religious, and national group in such a way that NO ONE will be upset somehow.

If it were possible to give a flying **** on a rolling donut less about this, I would; care even less. But since it's not possible I don't.

Considering it is a game made by a Canadian company, marketed primarily to Western English Speaking consumers, I would say it does a fairly good job at presenting a diverse cast of characters. If you want a game with mostly Asian characters, then there are plenty of Japanese RPG's which are excellent if you want to check them out.  Otherwise, you are stuck with what we have here, which I think is pretty solid all things considered.

If BioWare's business was mailing out cash, people would complain about how it was folded... gotta love us humans, if nothing else, when the aliens invade, they'll find us entertaining...
