People love Miranda because she's cool as ice, yet expresses her humanity all the same, albeit in a more subtle manner.
People love Garrus because he's a bro'.
People love Zaeed because he is a complete badass with no regret of what he has ever done. Plus, he tells good stories.
People love Wrex for his blunt, matter-of-fact humor.
And so on.
Hmm.
BioWare certainly knows how to design good characters that will appeal to anyone.
If anything, all these mini-fan communities around certain characters reminds me of those Harry Potter message boards I used to visit so much as a child... The endless banter and speculation... The endless flamewars... Was Ginny really Harry's crush? Did Ron have a thing with Hermione? And so on.
And yet, BioWare can bring about that same level of attachment and intrigue out of characters in a video game.
BioWare has elevated character development in video games to a new level.
Thank you, BioWare.
