Humans have been reaping the benefits of years of genetic engineering and new technology and philosophies. I think people are either going to be smart enough not to turn into fat-asses by 2185, will have their genes corrected so it's not hereditary, or will be able to correct the issue if - for some reason it is.

Now quit your ****ing and go take a look at the Volus.

Wait! You're right! Shepard IS the Emperor (or Empress...who'd really know under all the throne bits...) of Man! :o
Heh. ME suddenly getting as dark as WH40k would be amusing, at the very least.

Its because in the future every Fat-Man becomes harvested by the BlueSuns and Eclipse-Mercs.

After that they sell them to Elanus Risk Services and become new Ammunition for the Cain.

XD

This topic is bull****. For most of human existence, future or past, obesity will/has been uncommon. Through most of history, obesity has been almost excluded to the relatively rich, especially within urban areas. And this period where obesity is extremely common won't last very long, science will change things. Genetic engineering, and science, which will by 21xx know how to allow one to eat like a pig while still having a "healthy" diet, will make obesity virtually inexistent.

Indeed! Science will cure all our ails in 50 years!

how the hell do you get 21xx to be 50 years? more like 100 years+/- depends on xx's

Well, let's see- yesterday, we had threads indicating the name "Shepard" is racist, as well as another thread pointing out the fact that there aren't enough people with "special needs" being represented in the Mass Effect Universe, and just now there is a thread about how un-ethnically diverse the names are in ME.

What kind of "special" would a person need to be to make threads like that? "The name 'Shepard' is racist?" "There aren't enough people with 'special needs' in Mass Effect?" Really?
These forums  are getting ridiculous.

Well, I'm calling out BioWare for not putting in over-weight people prominently into the ME universe. Where's our Jabba the Hutt? Jek Porkins? The fat-dancing-chick-from-Return-of-the-Jedi?

George Lucas wasn't weigh-cist!

This thread was started as a joke, the previously mentioned ones were not.

I will ask again!

Where are the CHILDREN!?

Where will the "Think of the children!" people get their support if there ARE NO CHILDREN!?

I think you're playing the game too much when you start caring about trivial things like this. Just like I say to all posts questioning the realism of the Mass Effect universe; it's a fictional game set in an environment of the writers choosing with a development team facing similar resource constraints as any other game.

Suggest new combat/story ideas or where you see ME3 heading, but calling the devs out on a lack of realism in a game where there are half-robot zombies and Seth Green is actually funny just makes me think you've kinda missed the point of video games...It's a place to escape real life.

because science has erased that faulty condition from the galaxy. And yes it is wrong to be fat no matter how much your mum tells you its normal. Its unnatural and needs to be purged.

Funny thread. But to all the people who answered seriously, this game isn't sandbox per se. Yes it has certain elements which don't necessarily forward the story-line, but it has a definitive start and an end. Many of the in-betweens tie along with that story and actually have some outcome on the 'ending', opposed to games like GTA.

Yeah, maybe there should be some fat dude who's at the strippers. But there aren't gonna be any fat strippers, there shouldn't be. And really, when you're talking about fighting against certain groups, it's far less likely you're going to come up against some fat guy who can't run who's a mercenary.

Also, not having read the books etc, but thinking about it logically: It's quite possible that many races just aren't fat. I know there are chefs on board who cater to different species, but it's still a possibility, at least for a few races. I haven't seen a fat Alien/Predator/Tom Cruise in many films, but noone complained there.

Okay, I'll tell you why there are no fat people in the future. Because no one wants to see and asari dancer jiggling all over the place....wow...that image is kind of comical...
