An answer to the escape pod question: They're not escape pods. Shepard specifically calls them escape shuttles. That would imply a small mass effect drive core.

Yup, the whole mess with the Council and the Reapers just makes da brain hurt. I really hope BW comes up with a very fine explanation... but i fear not
i dont remember who from the mods asked the writers and they said it was easyer to make them braindead and go retard than write something else , so they went the lazy way , true it s not the exact words but in short it s what it ment

In which systems are these planets? I remember going there but i don't recall them having such large numbers.LookingGlass93 wrote...
2. Population numbers of planets are too big, especially if they're human colonies. Two reasons: 1) humans have only been using the relays for 29 years, and are colonising dozens of systems in several areas. There is no way that Terminus system colonies, ones in the most unsafe area of space in the galaxy like Anhur or Joab, could have hundreds or dozens of MILLIONS of colonists respectively; migration would take longer than that. 2) In Mass Effect, Terra Nova is established as one of the oldest human colonies, colonised in the first wave after discovery of the relays, and the second largest colony in existence - with 4.4 million people. Eden Prime, the one they say is a paradise according to Shepard...has 3.7 million.
Joab is in the Enoch system, Rosetta Nebula. It's where the N7 Dig Site mission is. Population: 21,553,000. Founded: 2171. Anhur is in the Amun system, Eagle Nebula. It's notable for being a human dominated world with a large batarian population, where they fought a civil war over legalising slavery. Population: 208, 587,000. Founded: 2165.

The Council goes to great lengths to keep you OUT of the Terminus Systems in ME1. "The Terminus Systems require a deft touch" and "A Council Spectre in the Terminus Systems could start a war."
In ME2, if you saved the Council, they offer you reinstatement into the Spectres with the caveat that you OPERATE SOLELY IN THE TERMINUS SYSTEMS...
I want a Paragon option in ME3 to leave the Council to die while I evac the rest of the Citadel...

I noted this as well, so annoying. The real kicker though is there was never a real threat from the Terminus systems because the Alliance kicked the crap out of them during the Blitz and on Torfan. A war with them is basically a war with the pirates, who are bad against an actual military, mercs like eclipse who wouldn't go to war with the Council because it's bad business, and the Batarians who don't want to risk their own people, which is why they funded the Blitz in the first place. In ME, "we can't go to Ilos, we'll start a war." In ME2, they have a mission on Ilos, and nobody does anything. Empty threat.
The worst thing about the Council though is "the Geth made Sovereign, Reapers don't exist." You bring Legion to that meeting, he tells them the truth, they say he's lying. They say Saren was lying, even when he was fully expecting to kill you after your conversation. They never send another asari to check Shepards vision; if Liara can do it, why not someone else? How the hell could they be fake, anyway? Plus, there's what another poster said a little earlier; they think the Geth made Sovereign, gave it to Saren, who then convinced them that the SHIP THEY JUST GAVE HIM was an immortal, genocidal AI. WTF?! I mean, they ignore the first peaceful, diplomatic interaction with the Geth EVER, for no reason. Who thinks that's a good idea? CONRAD could have approached it better.

Yep the Council is simply in the game as a foil to logic. The Asari melding thing is probably the biggest plot problem though as one meld from the Asari councilor could settle the whole thing. Of course, they'd try and say Shepard manipulated her own memories on purpose... "we have dismissed your visual and audio memories..."

It's one thing to play dumb in front of the people to avoid a panic. It's another thing ENTIRELY to play dumb to the guy (gal) who SAVED YOUR ASS FROM SAID REAPERS TWO YEARS AGO, and pretend like he's a moron.
Again, if bioware's own developers have to go up to the writer and say "Dude, this makes no frigging sense," odds are pretty good that it makes no frigging sense. They better have a helluva explanation ready to go in ME3, otherwise they're going to be pelted with tomatoes.

The Council says all that because they're feeding you a bunch of bullcrap in ME1. Once you give them 'actionable' intel, they ground you. They never wanted a human Spectre in the first place, they just wanted their little mistake Saren taken care of without humanity blabbing to the press. Making Shepard a Spectre was convenience, nothing else.
I'll be amused when ME3 rolls around and the Council is still jerking Shepard around, and all the paragons are crying because they still can't come to terms with the fact that the Council hates Shepard and the rest of humanity, and is only interested in protecting the old boy's club.

After releasing the Rachni Queen on Noveria (or killing her), you open a few planets which have Rachni on it. One of those has a mission where you come up to a small listening outpost which is defended by 3 (three. Count 'em. Three!) marines. You wipe out an entire legion of Rachni (for which you are given 0 xp. BULLSH**) and talk to the woman in charge.
She says that what you see is all that's left of an outpost of 50 (or 90, can't remember which) people.
So you say to her "I can take you guys out of here in the Normandy."
And she says, "No, your ship's too small. We'll wait on our own transport."
Wait, what? My ship is too small? For THREE PEOPLE?! I picked up like 8 Salarians from Virmire, and they up one tiny little nook in the cargo hold. I'm sure I have room for the three of you under the table in my private cabin!
For that matter, you can sit in one of these vacant chairs in the cockpit, since nobody ever sits in the cockpit except Joker anyways.
Bit of a disconnect between the writers and the mission designers there, methinks.

Your theory works, right up until the point when you realize that the HUMAN Council, which YOU installed, acts exactly the same way...
That said, every one of my ME1 playthroughs now ends with the Council "unfortunately" biting the bucket. Sorry fellas. That's what you get for being utter, mindnumbing morons.

This "plot hole" doesn't apply to an all-human or human-led new Council, since they never told you in the first place that you can't go to the Terminus systems, nor did they refuse to send the fleet under the pretense of not wanting to start a war.Creston918 wrote...

Oh, fair enough, I didn't read the ultimately quoted post. My bad. Still, the human led council pretends there's no such thing as a Reaper either. And seeing as how it was the Reaper that got them their seats, you'd think they'd be a bit more inclined to listen to the hero of humanity.
But, at least the council is written like real politicians: Stick your head in the sand and hope the problem goes away. Preferably while pocketing money.

OK, I missed this earlier. Here's the thing: a black hole doesn't suck everything in. They're just a source of gravity, and behave no differently than any other as long as you don't cross the event horizon. If our sun was instantaneously swapped for a black hole of the same mass, the solar system wouldn't suddenly get drawn in. Everything would continue to happily orbit just like before. The inner planets would just start rapidly getting much colder, and we'd definitely all die in fairly short order, but other than that? Not much.
Besides, the game never said every last ship was destroyed by the singularity's tidal forces (which is what I assumed was one of the concerns everyone had before going through the relay). More worry was given to the problems of radiation and holding up under Collector fire. Also, no one ever said a word about how much mass that black hole had (for the very good reason that they had no clue until they got there, and then they were a little busy once they did). Obviously, the Collectors had their weapons and those Oculi for a reason.

Perhaps the biggest hole is the gaping void left by BW devs and management in the weeks since ME2 was released.

I would use the word dissapointing rather than incredible. EA paid all the right people to make sure every review was "OMG combat is so much better" 9/10 WEEEEE! Even though the combat is a lackluster 3rd person cover shooter with limited depth and built with "retards" in mind. My favorite part is how instead of actually reviewing the story elements every single review says the same thing "The story is what we expect from Bioware." And that's it. Like they all got together and decided to send the players a coded message because like that one reviewer from gamestop that had his own opinion they'll get ****canned....
But yeah everything about Mass Effect 2 is market driven and hype funded. It's purely an EA project and nobody does market driven garbage better than EA.

Actually this could be explained by engine limitation that plot hole.
If you remember Virmire Kirahe says that he have in off mens to divide them on two teams but during his "Hold the Line" speech you see only 8 Salarians when logic says that there should be more of them.
Back to LP post Alpha - i thing generate all those 50 people could genetare impossible to play lag on weaker computers especially in such dark enviroment.

Pretty much what is said here - it appears to be an engine limitation. Even in ME2 you never get to see the entire crew of Normandy even though you just pulled all their butts out of the pods. I think we see 3 at most in addition to the squad. It is a bit of a game immersion issue but not a plot hole.

Yeah, this is a old, old problem for games in general and RPGs in particular. At TVTropes, they've dubbed the phenomenon "Thriving Ghost Town".

This is like saying "Asari aren't really girls, even though they look just like them and are the galaxy's first choice when it comes to hiring pole-dancers". They're obviously supposed to evoke eyebrows, 'cause they're in the exact same place you'd expect to find them on a human and they're shaped just like, you know, eyebrows. Justify/Handwave it however you want, but effectively, they're eyebrows. I suspect that it was done because Liara was an LI and someone thought they needed to emphasize the similarities with human women, and that false eyebrows were just the thing.

Asari with markings provoking the impression of eyebrows are not uncommon. See Aria, the Asari councillor, Shiala, Batha, Rana Thanoptis, Nelyna...
In addition, many more Asari have a noticeable light-dark contrast on the brow.
