But I have to admit that Legion is my favorite character in the game. There are many downsides to getting Legion as soon as possible because you end up having your Normandy crew killed by collector's.
To unlock the IFF mission, you simply have to do Tali's Dossier mission then do the Collector's Ship. (Will test this again, because I wasn't quiet testing this on my last 2 playthroughs, just happened)
He is full of information, but doesn't give you the option to learn as much as we all want to know. I can tell you that he got the N7 armor on Eden Prime while searching for you - after getting shot by Alliance marines.
Something that really upset me, was the lack of dialog when you bring Legion into the Citadel. I mean, I had him STANDING BEHIND ME, during that "Help Asari get off world" mission, when I explained that Geth have "Flashlight heads" to the C-Sec officer. I wanted to rip my hair out, thinking to myself "THERE IS ONE RIGHT BEHIND ME!" -pointing thumb over shoulder-
Udina and Anderson don't say ANYTHING if you bring Legion up there. The only good dialog change was when you bring Legion to Tali's loyalty mission.

OK - LI with Legion, you guys are sick and twisted unless you will use him as a talking vibrator - then I hope you are female.
To quote our other favorite synthetic intelligence, EDI: "That was a joke."
Also, did anyone catch Legion's comment about how EDI had blocks in place and was essentially shackled? They seemed clearly disapproving of EDI's treatment as a "thing" rather than a being.

Not always true u have to do tali thane or samara, then side missions, or main missions till you can do the ships. By the time u unlock talis loyalty mission, is the same time u do the collector ship, personaly i can forgo my crew to talk to legion anyday.

Actually, that's a typical 80's sci-fi movie effect, something they wanted to capture with ME

They could write an excuse for him, but they really shouldn't. It takes away the weight of his death if people were like "LOL we'll just load the back up".

Well that is if you want him as a squadmember. It does take the weight off it. But really I don't expect Bioware to pour a lot of resources into a squadmate some people may not even possibly get to see.

You realize the fundamental assumption underlying this logic is that players will only play the game once with a single imported save?

The underlying assumption is they want people to buy ME3 that didnt play 2.
If Bioware was operating under the logic that all people buying the game were hardcorists who did everything right. Wrex would have likely been a squad member.
