Yup, I've taken him on all the missions.

I need to see if it unlocked Tali's loyalty mission.. I think you only need to do one mission, but I'm not sure. At least Haestrom was the only one I had to do on Insanity *grumble*

Well, I'm doing stuff on Illium right now so I can get recruitments out of the way. I think I need star charts to get there anyway.

One of the type of threads that seem to always grab my attention on the forums are ones dealing with how Legion and the Geth actually process their information. As Legion says, you can't anthropomorphize them on human terms and understandings. I'm just curious to know if the usual Legion supporters in this thread ever stop to think about it or the implications of the Geth building a dyson sphere. As a fan of hard science fiction, it is perhaps the most interesting aspect of the Mass Effect universe that I feel the developers have created.

I see this 'dyson sphere' ending either really well, or really badly.

For really good, it will allow the geth to stay in their own little place, away from organics and allowing the quarians to have their colonies and home world back.

But if it were to end badly...
Every geth runtime within one body basically cumulates into what the reapers describe themselves as.
If some retarded organic decided to attack said structure for resources or due to some, anti-synthetic grudge, it could trigger the geth to come to a consensus that organics are a threat that must be removed. This 'super consensus', would leave every geth ready for war against organics.
And this 'dyson sphere' could also attract more likelyhood for an attack. Such a large population center is what the military calls a 'target of opportunity', if you can get them all at once, why not try it.

It is very interesting to consider what might happen with the geth story indeed.

Thing about a dyson sphere is that it's actually far more than what the reapers have achieved. It's harnessing the entire energy output of a star to fuel the processing needs of a civilization. This has the potential of exceeding anything an organic brain can achieve and lead to what's known as a technological singularity where the geth's understanding of the universe actually goes beyond the ability for anyone to perceive.

Which does draw comparison to the Reapers, considering Sovereign's words that there is no way someone like Shepard could understand the Reapers intentions. However, the Reapers seem to act in a malicious sense, using their advanced state to treat other species as one would a lab rat. The Geth so far, at least in the form of Legion, seem to treat other species as equals and is content to do their own work without interfering with others. Whether that intention will continue if they transcend to a different state of being is anyone's guess.

But looking at the AI that Shepard comes across in the first game, we see AIs content to strike first in order to serve their own needs and survive. In the second game, we meed EDI and Legion. It just goes to show that as you get the bad and good of organics, the same is true with synthetics.

Most of this is right, but the geth have been toying with organics to an extent.

Legion says they have been performing 'social experiments' to see how organics react to different stimuli. His example is when they released false information about a constellation in the shape of a goddess. Millions of organics believed it entirely, even without physical proof.

They don't seem to be doing this for malicious purposes, but likely to determine how organics may react to their presence.

AI's would naturally strike first, at the first sign of possible aggressive behavior, because it is logical to strike first and weaken the enemy before they get a chance to strike. It paints them as horrible, but they were making the right choice. The 'bad' of them wasn't really that bad if you look at it from a tactical standpoint.
