I have one of each that I consider my main Sheps (one MShep and one FShep). It's a nice way to mix it up, since I almost always play Paragon I'll never really make different decisions. May as well hear a different voice actor.

some men identify more with the female sex. that's the underlying appeal of lesbianism to many guys.they like to put themselves in the position of a woman.

I play Femshep almost exclusively. I finally made a Manshep for playthrough number 4 and finished ME1 with him, working on ME2. I don't like his VA nearly as much. He's just not quite as animated sounding as Femshep. But I really wanted to get in on the male side of things for once and see some of the other romance options, etc. There's a lot of banter between "the guys" that I wasn't aware of for being male, too.

Anyway - I'm decidedly male and I play female characters in games I'd say three quarters of the time. There was one major exception, and that was one of my favorite characters ever which I made for the Burning Crusade expansion of WoW, but there is a caveat in that he was a blood elf which is kind of close to female as it is. I played him for a year straight on an RP server. Good times. Since I quit, I haven't stuck with many male characters.

Hilariously I was showing off a house I had made in Sims 3 to a friend of mine who isn't much of a gamer, and she happend to notice that my sim was female. "You haven't earned any gay points in a while," she said. "But I think this makes up for it."

Kinda funny how the stigma works.

All I got from this thread, is that Shwarzenegger should be the manshep's voice.

I think that would freaking rule.

GET DOWN NOW!

I HOPE YOU LEAVE ENOUGH ROOM FOR MY FIST, BECAUSE I'M GOING TO RAM IT INTO YOUR STOMACH, AND TEAR OUT YOUR ***DAMN SPINE!

It kind of bothered me that she basically comes onto FemShep pretty hard, and seems like she's all ready to go Human AND Lesbian, but you can't contine that line of conversation after she suggests that she would like to -spoiler- with you.

She actually doesn't. There are two ways to interpret what she says, one isn't particularly sexual. And I like it a lot better without the sexual implication :)

I suppose you probably like the sexual implication, I don't care, just saying my peace.

I have done one playthrough with FemShep in the first game, as I did with KOTOR. Its cool to see what the differences are. Just like playing Paragon then Renegade and vice versa. Its such a huge universe, why not play it again differently?

So I am going to be playing through ME 1 again to make some diff choices to carry into ME 2. This time I am thinking about making  a femshep instead of a male. Is it not considered weird for a dude to do this? haha, I think it will be something diff to make the playthrough a little dif for me.

It would be weird if you did it whilst sitting in front of your PC/Xbox wearing a red thong, black PV knee-high stiletto boots, a maddona-esque bra and a short leather skirt.

Just playing a female in the game does not make you weird.

The way she says it AND her body language, however, are both very sexual 'blushing teen admitting their feelings', and also exactly the same way as it is done with male shepard as the beginning of the Talimance.

If they would have cut it PROPERLY it wouldn't bother me, but the left in the beginning of the flirting, which is obvious as hell due to inflections and body language, let you be accepting toward it, and then never let you pick it up again.

Cut the lesbian romance?  Cool.  Fine.  But then ACTUALLY CUT IT.

Seems like Shep already had plenty of "cool" Arnold-esque one-liner-right-before-he-kills-a-guy in ME2.  Pretty much half the Renegade interupts seemed to have them, almost thought I was watching Commando or Running Man at a couple of points.

Hey i only play female... this is why-

1) I cannot make a guyshep that looks like me enough to be satisfied with, and it feels too weird to make another male character, cuz it feels like im molding a mans face... feels gay... on the inside... that's bad.

2) My femshep is superhot!!! like a mix between Halle Berry Rhianna and my fiance

3) Strong females are hot... i only am attracted to strong leader-type females

4) Bioware has been consistent in giving us less than satisfactory hair and complections for us hoping to make an Afro-American MaleShep

5) I just beat the game after 40ish hours... as gay as shaping another mans face is... watching the butt of this weird guy u spent a peculiar amount of time molding and creating for 40 hours is MUCH gayer... its like... off putting.

Well, Krylo, as I recall there is a slight difference in how Tali responds to your positve response.   Namely she doesn't get REALLY shy and embarrassed acting.

However, I do feel that whenever she turns around to talk to Shepard, she always seems like someone with a little crush.  Seemed odd on my Femshep, especially after hearing Kelly talk about Tali's body language to my male shepard.

She says something about linking suits. It's possible to have a crush that's not sexual. Linking suits is just an intimate thing, and she makes it clear that - male or female - Tali strongly appreciates everything that Shepard is.

I'd give it a try :) Went through ME1 with a femshep, now going through ME2 as femshep Adept. But of course, you should play what you feel best with, I mean, its not life or death depending on the sex of your Shepard either :)

Me? I dont really care. Its a game after all :)

Back in the day... when i played Everquest 1... i had a friend who used to play a female Woodelf Druid. One day i asked him:

"I don't get it why would you play a female Avatar?"

And he said:

"Well, if i am going to stare 6 hours at some polygon ass, it better be some sexy chicks ones and not some hair males one."

Seemed perfectly reasonable to me after that point to play a female Avatar :)

I am a guy, and I have both male and female Shepards. The same goes for characters in other RPG's. And I know plenty of guys who play both male en female characters. There's nothing weird with it, at all. Says nothing about your sexuality or "manliness" or whatever.

Missing out on Jennifer Hale's voice acting because of some insecurity seems like a real waste...

Think about it - Bioware created a game where male & female present two different looks at the game, in almost the same way as classes - why ignore half the game content as a potential replay? I found it really quite refreshing.

As a potentially amusing aside on the subject of online avatars, when some MMOs give you male options of 'bloke in a dress, pretty-boy, heavily bearded norseman', my girlfriend would rather I played a female character online that looked good than an awful looking male character, because whilst I have to stare at the back end, she has to stare at the front end ;).

Seven minutes, Fifty seconds.  I'd time stamp it but I can't remember how.

Beside the point, though.

Seems pretty shy/embarrassed/crushy to me.  And that's without even having the body language.

Ah yes Jennifer Hale voice, how could I forget the best reason of all :)

Anyone missing out on that makes a really big mistake without even being able to regret it.

Yeah I got a few femsheps. For some reason they are all paragon biotics and all my male Sheps are renegade soldier/infiltrators. In a singleplayer game it doesn't feel weird at all, but I couldn't do it online (too freaky).

I know, playing as the opposite sex is so weird. Thank god there are just as many games with female leads as with male leads, or else I'd never get to play games. OH WAIT.

playing as the opposite sex can be quite interesting in a game

and i'd rather stare at the as of a female for 30 hours than the ass of a male
