i have been wondering if bioware could modify ME1 so that the controls are more like ME2 for shooting an a few other things.

I highly doubt it; I don't think updates like that can be made on a game that is already on the shelf of stores. Not to mention that Mass Effect is considered a finished product and it would be very unlikely (especially with ME2) that Bioware would ever touch ME1 ever again.

I replayed parts of ME1 myself and found the UI and mechanics suddenly lacking, but you can still customize the keybinds to mimic those of ME2. The only thing I couldn't bind was the waypoint command. That made things really easy in moving the squad around in ME2, as opposed to having to pause all the time.

You can set bind the waypoint commands in ME1 by editing the Bioinput.ini. My example has the scroll wheel set waypoints. I can't remeber who posted this originaly, but it was on the old forum. Very useful.

Ah, very nice. Thanks, Karstedt. Should be relatively easy to change that to keyboard traps, too.
