It's the little things that make it worthwhile. like side-quests, scanning, and exploring the galaxy.

Did you play it nonstop? If you did that's why it seemed short.
Thanks for the sarcasm, but no. I have a lot more to focus on during my days rather than Mass Effect, I'm only in highschool =P

The only way I can see anyone beating the game in 16 hours is to do only the story missions, without doing any of the sidequests, talking to anyone, looking at the codex, researching upgrades, etc. I clocked in at close to 40, I think.
No no I did all that, did just about all character missions etc. Researched a lot, even did tedious scanning for long moments. Mass Effect just seemed longer than ME2

The game is awesome, just much shorter than i would have expected. The whole 2 disc thing still confuses me. Dragon Age is supposed to be horrific in length and thats all on one disc, is it not?
Me thinks a lot of possible content was not included for the sake of DLC.

i did all squad missions, squad loyalty missions, and side missions, and finished in 46 hours.
probably less than 1 hour overall of scanning planets.

I scanned every major planet (good and rich, and sometimes moderates and poors) and took a look at the rest
the game was only about 24 hours for me, it was very short
ME1 with doing everything was about 26
(both on insane)

My first playthrough took me 54 hours ... I don't know how you people finish it soooo fast
must skip through all the dialogue or something.

• Are lying.
• Skipped a crapload of dialogue.
• Didn't do any sidequests.
• Virtually ignored your entire crew.
• Didn't do any character missions.
• Played on the easiest difficulty.

yes, when priestly said it was two times longer than ME1 it was shameless marketing, but hey now they have your/my money...
pretty sure he never said that. the bioware line from the beginning was that it depends on what you do. you can breeze through it quickly, in which case your squad will likely die... or you can take your time, in which case it's the same length as ME1.

scratch the last one. i played on casual my first playthrough and died only 1 or 2 times, and clocked in at 46 hours.
if you do all the story elements, side missions, and dialogue, it's impossible to finish in 16 hours on any difficulty.
hell, there's probably more than 16 hours of dialogue in the game regardless of mission length.
