32 hours in my first playtrough (on Veteran) and i ´m just starting to check the unexplored galaxies (main missions ones not included, obviously... and a couple i did in search of element zero). I´m going to do Thane and Miranda Loyalty missions this evening. ¿Is the game... short? I think not.

Just take your time to complete the missions. Enjoy the acting. Enjoy the ride.

No, it wasn't. My finished save is at 62 hours and while that damn boring scanning took far too much time there was still plenty of great content there.

You skipped most of the game.

About 53 hour in my first, 31 hours my second and 42 hours my third playtrough. So no, the game is not short if you don't rush things. Just started my fourth but planning to keep it on hold till some more dlc.

I checked every planet, picked up every anomoly
did all the DLC
made sure every system said 100%
did every mission
ended up with over 50,000 EZ (after I bought everything
and way more with the others
probably spent 3 hours scanning total
listened to all dialouges
did every loyalty mission
finished the game
and did Insanity (which is easy)

that totaled to 24 hours (2 hours less than doing everything and getting every mineral with insanity in ME1)

Both ME1 and ME2 were short... ME2 seems shorter at first, because its so streamlined and so confined that you feel kind of empty after the ending.

I think it might just be that ME2 is faster paced than ME1 which is what makes it seem shorter. Even then, I would expect a lot more seeing as its the big (two-disked) sequel.

And that is all a lie.

Haha, I think my playtime for the game was pretty reasonable. I played on normal as a soldier, listened to every line of dialogue (that I'm aware of) except the bugged asari ID mission, read all the new codex entries, scanned enough planets to upgrade myself fully, did all the side quests, and got everyone to survive, and it took 37 hours.

And yeah, I'd say this game is 40-50% longer than the first one, which I beat in 23.5 hours with the same parameters (all quests, all dialogue, all codex entries).

For my play time it was about 25 hours for the first and 30 hours for the second, the game is about on par with the first game in terms of length in my opinion.

You beat the main campaign in 16 hours?

OK... Even professional reveiwers who play games like this for a living, and skipped all the extra content were clocking in 35 to 45 hours easy....

So unless you were skipping through EVERY conversation and did nothing whatsoever but get like 4 characters I really don't see you doing it in 16 hours.

I completed it in abt 18 hours, with every loyalty mission done?

I'm not lying or trying to brag guys, maybe I really did skip out on a lot. But I'm pretty sure I didn't?

I played through on Hardcore from the start, explored every little thing, talked to everyone I could, etc etc.

Took me 60 hours. Maybe if you rushed through on casual it will take you 16 hours.

The game isn't short, it's just that feeling of "I want more!!!" "I want ME3 now!!!" and so on that usually gets on us when we finish a great game.

First run ME2: 51h 45min. ^_^ First run ME1: Around 55h. :o At the end of ME2 I skipped most of the planets, as I already got enough ressources and it also got very repetitive and boring to be honest.

When I take ME1 as refference my second runthrough of ME2 will most likely be shorter, but I'm sure I'd still get about 35 to 40 hours out of it.

16 hours? No way. But I guess people play this a lot different. I for instance were checking on ALL my crewmates after every mission to get to know them better through new dialogs ("I'd like to talk about you..."). I also visitied my cabine regulary to feed the fish, change some armor and sometimes even listen to the soundtrack a bit.

I did every single sidequest and N7 mission and also the very small sidequests (for instance when you found something and the game told you to find someone who could use it *yea, spoilerfree ^^*). And of course I did all the loyalty missions.

I bet for a 16 hours playthrough you'd have to skip most of the planet scanning, planet description reading (which can be intersting if you're into that kind of stuff), N7 missions, maybe even some loyalty missins. And I bet you'd also have to skip most of the running around through the ship after missions in order to talk to your shipmates.

PS: Some important fact I forgot: I often walk(ed). When I'm in an interesting location I slowly walk and look at the place. I also walked quite often in the Normandy. It's just my kind of "roleplaying", because it feels more authentic. In real live you also don't run around all the time. ^^

I completed the game in 18 hours with doing all the side quests and full missions.

I did about 10 mins of scanning the planets and got bored, I decided that I was going to do enough that was needed to get me through the game. I didn't enjoy the scanning and I saw no point to it in the game apart from finding the side missions.

I found the game very short and lacking in depth story like the first game. I was also anoyed at the lack of ME1 import choices. E-mails and a random character from ME1 saying hi every so often doesn't do any of the games justice.

less than 20 hours is impossible (i guess if you skip everything else but the side missions and main mision its possible)

Believe what you like.  I was just stating what I had done, as what the topic was asking.  As I said, I never sat for hours scanning planets all day.

I remember there were parts were you could run past enemys. That might make a playthrough shorter.
