Heartbeat SFX During Loading?
#1
Posté 13 février 2010 - 05:28
But I've become bothered by a heartbeat (critical health) sound effect that keeps playing during the loading screens after initial load. It doesn't happen when loading the different decks of the Normandy, instead occurring when I transition to a planet surface, area, or combat location.
The heartbeat noise starts after a few moments, and lasts until the area loads. It also persists for a long while after initial load before the party select screen comes up. It seems to have been happening to my character since I visited the Normandy Crash Site from the DLC, but I'm not entirely sure when exactly it started.
Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm still not entirely sure where mine started, but it seemed like it was around the time I investigated the old Normandy's crash site.

Haven't noticed it, try tweaking some of your graphic settings, you might be lagging up.
Not possible. The game runs 'like a hot rod'.

Does anyone know if it occurs after getting poisoned by the Batarian Bartender in lower afterlife?
Dunno - though I did go through that bit before it started happening. It might have something to do with it.

Now the sound even played through all the startup loading screens, and the character generation phase - the entire time. It's becoming very jarring.

It seems it is triggered by some event in the game that never quite gets its cue to shut off - it's possible that jared's Batarian bar-tender link may have some weight in it. I'll see what happens once I get to that point with the new character.

Please read the stickied thread on how to report problems, and edit/follow-up here with it. There is almost a zero chance of diagnosing a problem (unless someone else has reported the problem properly previously) without knowing what system configuration you have.
System information should be unnecessary for a problem like this. The problem is in a mission trigger or a load transition, not my system. To satiate you:

There are several possibilites that have been seen in other threads. Drivers/hardware being one of them. As far as I can tell they are ok. Do you have your processor/RAM/video card overclocked? This has been seen to cause several problems (not just the voice/video synching).
Are you running a legal version with the disc in the drive? No-CD fixes and/or cracked versions have also been found to cause some really strange issues that shouldn't be a problem normally.
Lastly (for this post), what is the model of sound card you are using? Is it on-board or discrete? What company (i.e. Realtek)?
Thanks.

If I came across too negatively, I do apologize, after reading thread upon thread of people saying "I have a problem, how do I fix it?" it gets a little hard to actually look at a problem. Start with the basics (hardware/drivers) and work you way through the possible sources.

Nothing has been modified/overclocked in any way beyond the usual driver updates. It's a Sound Blaster by Creative for audio.
And of course it's a legal copy. No 'cracks', no illegal 'fixes' - and both discs are in my drives (as installation apparently demanded).
The issues aren't caused by a hardware configuration. It is - again - quite obviously something in the coding that causes the effect to continue after either a certain scripted event or a load-screen transition while in critical health. I'm still doing my own research with the new player profile to figure out where it starts.
Also, the original (problematic) profile happened to be a soldier - my new one is an Infiltrator, and it still hasn't happened to him, yet (at level 4, now).
I also ask anyone else who's posted in this thread to post their configurations and insight into the issue if they can.

Yeah I'm on shock trooper too, but when I use the reassign points upgrade it clears soome of my paragon points is this normal?

Yes. Shock Trooper grants a 100% bonus to Paragon and Renegade. Commando only 70%, IIRC.
But this definitely fixed it for me. Just completed the game with that playthrough and didn't have it once after changing to Commando. Odd how a visual and sound effect is related to a statistic choice.

I only have this bug when I play on my Shock Trooper-specced soldier. Commando, and other classes are fine (at least I checked it with an Adept and Infiltrator, and the bug wasn't present)
Now that I think of it, that must be it - my soldier was specialized as a Shock Trooper, too; and my Infiltrator has no problems.
