I carried over my ME2 character to my 2nd playthrough and took all weapons and armor. However, do I need to repurchase weapon upgrades throughout the game or do my weapons already carry those upgrades?
i.e. my sniper rifle does serious damage but i'm being offered the AP sniper rifle upgrade. Do I really need it?
So far I've been trying to save my resources to purchase the ship upgrades so I can finish strong and not have to mine at all.
Second Playthrough...

You have lost all weapon upgrades.
You will still need to mine iirc.

I think you have to get those upgrades again (either buying or obtaining them as loot). I once started an ME2 import and ended up starting out with the basic weapons.

Well, if he's JUST going for ship upgrades, no. He'll never have to mine.

Like I said, all the upgrades are great but I seem to be doing just fine with the advanced weapons from first playthrough. I have all weapons the game offers. at least the important ones. Yes, including the Cain and the Blackhole!

If you're getting by fine then you can just ride on your free 50k resources, get the ship upgrades, then get a few upgrades with the leftovers for the hell of it and never have to bother with mining.

Cool, mining's not that bad but just time consuming overall. Last playthrough I plugged up my zune and listened to music for hours as I mined. That's how I got everything. Hehe.

I am starting to take that approach, just mine early alot to get it out of the way and never look back. I think i settled on 350,000 total of each metal and you should be good. I do know that Platinum seems to be in most demand.

c & p from some thread ages ago
Iridium = 185,000
Platinum = 317,500
Eezo (Element Zero) = 35,500 (plus 2500 or 5000 for multiple advanced training & retrain powers)
Palladium = 165,000

If you are playing on the PC there are ways around having to mine.

Whatever works Asai. That's a lot of mining though... I wouldn't be able to tell you what my total were because everytime a significant upgrade was offered I exited and upgraded, then kept mining. lol
