Just regarding those asking about the romances, by "not continue" it just means you don't have a chance to actively continue the relationship during the course of this adventure. It does not mean that you mysteriously broke up or that the romance is not recognized to exist. I would have liked to have cameos by everyone, but that simply wasn't possible. As it is, you may find some treats awaiting you -- recognizing past decisions can be done in small ways, as well as large (and this applies to things outside of romances, as well).
Alistair - "So how's Leliana been?"
PC - "We just had our first child, she's staying back in Highever/Orzammar/Denerim/etc to take care of him/her"
would be great

This is how I feel, I am was thinking about not having any romances on my new character now as well.Madriker wrote...
Man, I find myself losing more and more interest in the expansion with each new announcement... Ironic. I'm not too disappointed with the romances being cut, so long as the expansion honors my previous endeavors and choices I'm satisfied. A subtle hint or mentioning of the romance interest (even if h/she is not there) from Origins would be enough for me.
Two new specs per class an' new spells is really the only aspect that has my interest at this point. I'm not impressed with any of the new cast, nor the one returning for that matter. Not being able to import the entire Origins inventory is massive fail, in my book.

Then they would have to spend ten minutes explaining how artificial insemination is possible in the DA universe.

It's not impossible for a Warden and non-Warden to have a child, but it is unlikely. And I'm not sure how long after Awakening is after Origins, but I imagine it's probably not long enough for somebody to carry a baby to term anyway, regardless of the taint. I'm refering to my character's distinct lack of a penis.

Obviously it'd be different for females/dwarves (remember something about dwarves not being able to procreate with humans)WilliamShatner wrote...

Adoption, for example? or maybe something completely different.
And to Dalishranger:
pregnant then.

Ah, that was unclear - seemed like you were responding in regards to Franky's character, not your own.

I think that the game will be focused in hack n'slash monsters and a lot less on dialogues and party interaction
This could explain lack of romances...cause romances require a lot of lines of dialogues.
I'll not preorder this...wait till the reviews come....
game was out in november 2009 and expansion will be on shelves on 16 march....only five months....
Do not expect too much from this one...

If I take a look at the forum I see that most of us spent tons of posts and threads just to discuss how our romances and our history will be carried on in this expansion, everybody trying to explain his tehories...sometimes nearly fighting with other forum users..Well, now after several weeks they told us that we all were wrong about the contents of the xpac and that it will be just an extemporaneus and stand-alone adventure, not really connected to Origins campaign. So now many of us feel frustrated by this.
But what are the reasons for this "great mistake/misunderstading"? Maybe was we exaggerate in our expectations? mmm... I really don't think so...
I always said that I am going to buy and play awakening, and I'm still going to do that.. but I can really say that now I am much more "cold" about this xpac.
Of course I will play it, but surely I will not run into the 1st game shop the 1st day it will be on sale just to buy it...

Zevran and Oghren flirt with all the female companions, but it never goes much beyond that. I just think it would make for an interesting moment in camp where you're looking for them and you discover a "do not disturb" sign on their tent ... and oh look another NPC can't be found either .... heh heh.

It's probably not going to happen, but I've never understood why in games the companions only express romantic interest in the PC. Some should be busy getting busy with each other, too. The demon-blood bard romanced one of your companions in BG2, and if you were romancing her as well, challenged you to a duel over it! That's another interesting way things can go.

Because it is supposed that in RPGing you immedesimate with your main character.. So looking to other characters romancing each other has not exactly the same feeling as romancing someone with your personal character..

As for the choices carrying over, this could be very expensive in terms of resources and I understand from a development perspective on how you would like to limit this, but the playing as the dead warden does seem downright silly. Why certain DLC objects such as weapons and armor don't make the cut I don't understand either. Again from a development standpoint, why DLC items are being cut when modders will surely correct this seems like a strange decision. (Especially in light of much of the DLC having a price tag.) As for the romances, it certainly isn't necessary that every Bioware game have one; but again Bioware games have been almost synonymous with npc romances and a large -and vocal- subset of their community see them as integral to the experience. It does puzzle me a little that they determined them not a worthwhile expenditure of resources given their historic popularity.
As for myself, I'll wait for reviews, etc, and hope that their usual storytelling prowess is present and that it will be great experience in its own right. I just can't shake the feeling that this expansion is turning out to be a little half-baked.
