So, if you end the game married to Alistair or Anora? What, you all of a sudden become just another GW? No mention of your status? Alistair is in Awakenings. I assume depending on your landsmeet or ending choices.. But really? $40 for an expansion was fine with me until I heard all this. Sadly, when they announced Awakenings. this was my initial fear. I guess my fears were valid.

I bet if you romanced and/or married Alistair in DA you won't meet him in Awakenings.

There is no way you won't meet up with Alistair in Awakening if you made him King, married him and became Queen. He is in the trailer for Awakening and shows him walking along side and talking to what appears to be the 'Warden-PC'. He is talking about the (paraphrased) '....new threat and how it depends on the Grey Wardens, weakened as they are.....'. At least that is how it appears to me.

Depending on when Awakening takes place, there's a chance that the wedding will not have happened yet (since you don't get married until 6 months after Alistair/Anora's coronation). David Gaider has said that relationships will not be ignored, that there will be references made. Basically, your PC will be in romantic stasis while they take care of Awakening business.

it wasn't confirmed anywhere that the romance with alistair or anora would just end you just dont have any romance options in the conversations, it's only for this expansion supposedly but we won't find out til they release the next expansion or doa 2. If bioware are as smart as i hear they will be reading peoples comments and working harder to keep there gaming fans happy or they could end off crashing and burning on this game and many more to come, mind ea are also to blame for alot of unhappy people not just bioware

Yes. I saw the trailer as well. So it just makes me wonder how the heck they can ignore so much from our main game.. So in short. I'll play new warden from Orlias.

Paying $40 for this expansion was no huge issue for me. Paying $40 for some Hack n Slash mission that does not even really apply to our previous saves.....  ???

So, are we to horde all of our ending saves for DA2? will those even apply?  "shrugs"

The lack of romance or that continuation is really disappointing to me. Actually, the lack of continuity from one story to the next is something I'm finding uncomfortable. The reason I loved this game was the depth of the story, to break that narrative seems wrong.

I'll likely be waiting to hear how much of the expansion is hack and slash tbh.   I liked the story of DA and really .. the fighting?  Not nearly so much.   The story got me through those long, long, long fights.  They'll have to continue that story telling through into the expansion for me to even be interested in playing.

I don't see how they can pull off a pure hack & slash.  That's my least favorite part of this game. It was the story -the character I created (ie, bits of me) and her relationships, that's what kept me playing. The play - I'm not wild about it.  Party/tactics/pause was ok - I got used to it, but I think I'll always prefer single player. (I can't say how many times I missed seeing a killing blow because I was switching around)   They did a great job with fight animations - but you can't focus on them - or if you do (and I got good enough with tactics finally to stay pretty much on my main character), the rest of the party seems irrelevant. I did like the aspect of having a party & being able to tell them what to do & when to do it - it was healing after a bunch of multi-player games. 'You'll heal when  I say heal, & you WILL wait for the tank to get aggro before you launch into dps...' That could have worked better - rather hard to get the archer to hold off until the tank has him... Funny that NPCs would be the same as live players...

Anyway, the lack of romance continuity is disappointing to me, too. Not only that, but the lack of old friends (Oghren grew on me a little - but he's not one I'd bring back by choice)  New friends are great - they don't replace the old ones. (In game or in life)  I didn't want a new love (unless I hadn't established an old one) - I never did like the 'new is better' way of thinking (in game or in life) - but I'd hate to set it aside, too.

If you are looking at 15-20 hrs of game play involving just adventuring and combat with -no- option for flirting or romancing that will be BORING. A majority of all the most humorous party banter involved sexual innuendo of some type. What are the companions going to talk about now, the weather? About the Darkspawn you just decapitated? - or- perhaps they can comment on how idiotic the game developers were for taking the romance element out of the expansion?

Disappointing to see that BioWare completely neglects the relationship part of the game. Not introducing new once or discontinuing the old once is acceptable... but both? A bit sad really...

I read that your party member will be trying to romance other party members. I think not having a romace option for your character kinda fits the story. One thing I do not understand is why is there eight character slots on the World Update, when they said your party will only have six members. Can Wynne, Loghain, or Allistair temporarily join your party too?

Think of it this way, you are a Warden your romance comes second to your duty, you are being sent off to deal with an important threat and must put your persona life on hold. It's like being in the military and sent off (which again happens all the time).

Yeah, I think looking at this as "Official Business" is the way to go.  You have a rank now, and you're recruiting subordinates. It's not just you and your ragtag band of emotional misfits anymore.  In Origins you are the de facto leader but everyone is on more or less equal footing, in Awakening you are the Leader and the hierarchy should be clearly established lest things get murky and/or awkward.

"laughs" Well, there is that. My rogue is a saucy little minx.....  Her brother even said so! :D  I know I won't be able to resist playing. Just kind of bummed out that the our origins fall flat to the wayside.

Yes, I know how you feel although I'm bad at RPing.  I just can't help but laugh at everything that goes wrong with the main character.  Which is probably why I don't have as much of a problem with the entire continuity being crapped upon.  It's my fault for being such a min-maxer.

I liked Fergus! I wish he could have been a party companion. Heck , he had nothing to lose at that point. Well, I suppose he has to carry on the Cousland line. Since my Saucy rogue is otherwise tanted and barren!

Very true, if anything the PC has more responsibility now with a real Warden order being built and everything lol :)  Wynne was very truthful when she said a Warden's duty can conflict with their romantic life and in said case duty must be win out most of the time, balancing the two isn't always possible and this is simply a case of that.  Doesn't mean the romance is gone of course, just being put on hold.

Oghren feels your pain.  He probably joined you cause Felsi got angry at him for wanting TOO much sauce for her roast rump.
