Think of it this way, you are a Warden your romance comes second to your duty, you are being sent off to deal with an important threat and must put your persona life on hold. It's like being in the military and sent off (which again happens all the time).

Yeah, I think looking at this as "Official Business" is the way to go.  You have a rank now, and you're recruiting subordinates. It's not just you and your ragtag band of emotional misfits anymore.  In Origins you are the de facto leader but everyone is on more or less equal footing, in Awakening you are the Leader and the hierarchy should be clearly established lest things get murky and/or awkward.

Meh.  I prefer the Zapp Brannigan approach.

-No new romance, not even the old one will continue :(

Well, I like romance within these games and hearing this news was disappointing. It was awesome to see adventurers hooking up and whooping baddies together. It also gives you another reason to advance the character.

- Oghren is (finally) confirmed

Not only did I never use Oghren, I also didn't find him that good to even bring back in the expansion and honestly he was one of the least liked for me. I only found him slightly funny at nominal times. I'd rather have seen Alistair or Morrigan back in my party for some awesome RP. Whooptee doo for the smelly dwarf?

- Cameos of Alistair, Loghain, Wynne and Anora depending on how your game turned out.

Once again, just should have included them as returning members. Cameos I don't care for unless of course they do something like in ME2. THAT might be worth something.

- Wade and Herren are back with new goodies

Were they the dwarves? I cannot even remember who they were...

- DLC items will not be available

Lame. Lame. Lame. If we pay for it, why can't we use them?

As far as other stuff like spells and talents, I really hope they are cool and useful and not all disappointing as some of the news is I'm hearing for the expansion.

I mean this expansion sounds cool...but there is some disappointing FAQs coming out for it.

Can't imagine origins would've been as good if Duncan had hit on me at ostagar.

I read somewhere, but I don't remember where, might have even been on these forums, that just because the origins romances aren't in awakenings it isn't asumed that they just broke up. So there's always the option that you can't start new romances in awakenings because the ones from origins will be back in the next full game, but that's just wild speculation so don't hold me to it.

The FAQ really has me worried about how they plan to screw us in the next DLC/Expansion. "Hmm, we took out Romances and already paid for DLC, what else can we do to anger the fans, after all they'll buy it anyway. Ooh, I know! We could charge double for the next one, make it a 5 hour Expansion, and tell them that not only did their DLC never exist, neither did the previous Expansion!"

I do know Devs read the forums. However, tend to avoid comment on any that have fueled any anger. If they do address a community concern. It usually is not open for comment. :) smooth....

I swear, if I load up Awakening and NPC Alistair calls my PC 'Warden' instead of 'My Dear' or 'My Love', I am going to march my ass up to Canada and someone at Bioware is going to get slapped!

Honestly what did people expect, it's not a whole new game, it's an expansion so it is common sense that you can take what you had in the original game cut down the amount of content quite a bit, cut out a few things they don't have the time/resources to do in only an expansion like this (such as romance), and there you have it... a new story thread/next step, new characters, new adventures, new items, new areas...

There's absolutely no reason to be surprised. We all always want more and sure I wanted romance continuation too but not surprised at all that there is no new romance content in -this-.

Well...... It is an expansion.. not a DLC.. So in regards to expectations. Yes! I expected more of our origins to carry over.

Maybe they should not have rushed an expansion out just a few months after the official game release. Put a bit more work into it and gave it to us one year later like most expansions roll.

Eh. I would have been happy with a good expansion that gave 20-30 hours of decent game play, followed our origins in 12 months with DA2 coming later. than a rushed one costing $40.. that has so many feeling like they are getting lengthy DLC with out being able to use their DLC items!

- DLC items will not be available

This one has me the most concerned. I'm sorry but does this mean my character will go from having Warden Armor and 2 matching swords (starfang and the one from the lich) to standing with just one sword and naked. This seems like a poor choice by the dev team in that people have payed for the content and now find not only is it pointless now but they have a good chance of loading in naked and unarmed. More so with the RtO where one of the reasons to do it was for the kings amour and sword which now don't exist in the expansion and can't really say you get much out of if you pick up the expansions now.

that is exactly what that means.. Log in.. suit up with Wades finest and hope for the best.. All the DLC items you are sporting will not be in the expansion    "sighs"

Who says they wouldn't have made this choice even if they waited?  Whose also to say that waiting a year wouldn't have resulted in the same expansion, unless you have some magical visibility into the work they've put and are putting into this expansion then it's all speculation, which is fair but let's remember just because you say it doesn't make it the case.

Honestly I'd be glad if they don't spend resources into ensuring DLC can come into the expansion, I'd rather have those same resources being applied to working on the new content instead of the old. You don't get something for nothing, if A is worked on it takes resources that could've worked on B and to me keeping old DLC items in a whole new expansion in which we will probably want new items is a very low priority.

Then you and I would agree :)  Though there are many others who seem to want them to divert resources to this.

I'll admit it! I am a pixel crack fiend ...... Also love new content of any kind.  the only thing I was bummed over, was the story progression. will this stop me from playing? suree..............  i may not wake at the crack of dawn to play before my 5yo wakes up like i did for the main game. :P

Did they promise that the DLC would be in this specific expansion?  If not then it wasn't something you paid for.  I can sympathize but expecting something that isn't promised is always dangerous.

...an Expansion is, by definition, part of the original game (especially if it requires that the original game is installed on your system to be played).
You may check what the word means if you're not convinced.
"You weren't promised that you would have been able to keep your items in the expansion" is like saying "you weren't promised that you would be able to keep the items you looted in RtO when visiting the areas added in Stone Prisoner or Warden's Keep". It's an argument that doesn't hold much water, if any at all ( especially considering that the official name of the x-pac, as per website, is "Dragon Age: Origins: Awakening", rather than "Dragon Age: Awakening", so saying "the DLC won't be imported because Origins=/= Awakening doesn't really cut it).

Early on Ferret B. said your gear would port over. I guess many assumed this meant...all of our gear.

Yes it is.. However, it technically means you need the base game to play it. Not necessarily story or items..
