I'm getting the feeling the FAQ wasn't really written to make sure it wasn't easy to interpret things differently. I think what they were trying to say is that of our old companions Alistair, Wynne and Loghain will be in the game as cameos and Oghren plays a big role so he will be the companion.
However they way it was written leaves much open to interpretation and could indeed mean that they will be (temporary) companions as well.

It was similar with the romances section, the way it was written gave loads of people the impression that romances were just killed off, luckily David Gaider picked up on the confusion and made a statement explaining clearly that the romances are still there, would be acknowledged but could not be acted upon.

Probably, though I'm kind of doubtful as to how they are going to properly "acknowledge" a romance with, say, Lelianna if she doesn't even make a simple cameo in the expansion.

Perhaps with an ema...ehh letter from her ? Alistair /Oghren droping one or two lines on how the two of you are such a great couple ?

It just sounds like everybody liking that particular part of the original game is set up for disappointment with the expansion pack.

Yeah Alistair or one of the other companion cameos will probably have a short dialogue line about your relationship. Alistair will most likely respond fitting to your status with him (so very friendly when you are in romance with him)... You might also be able to mention it to one of the new companions...

I agree its a bit of a letdown that they aren't part of the expansion, but it could also be understandable as long as they continue with them in a sequel! But its at the very least nice that they're still there and that they will be at least acknowledged...

no i wont except that it's not good enough i need my kaboodle on those cold nights after a hard day of fighting darkspawn wheres my alistair oh not by my side like it said he was on my ending well i want to know why not i feel lied to hmmmmm it was a man who wrote awakenings i'm sure of it women wouldnt make empty promises in a game

At least you know where he's hanging out and he'll probably pop up in Awakening!  I have no clue where Morrigan is or if my unborn child will be born with horns or not!
You could always imagine having him by your side or that he was sent on important business and there is nothing stopping you from returning to Origins and doing the kissy stuff there!  I know I will be returning to Origins for my vitamine M(orrigan).

lol but morrigan is hostile all your gonna get is kaboodle no loving now alistair is all sweet n cuddly so he'll kepp me warm when it gets cold and keep me safe when theres danger about but morrigan would probably poison your food when your not lookin

yer i keep forgetting our time zones are different (morrigan is just mean but she's a great character brings fun to the game just to hear her and alistair winding each other up makes me laugh)

lol see i make a good point (whilst knowledge is good, it doesnt keep a warden warm at night after many battles with nasty darkspawn she needs to have someone to take her mind off all the bad things)

I believe we will be seeing everything unfold on DA2.. The expansion(s) are fillers up to that point. I can deal/live with that. A good story and game is rare to say the least. Getting both in the same game. Even more rare. I am curious if we will see at least one more expansion before DA2.. It is well over a year before it is slotted for release.

You are hoping for 2 more expansion other than next months release? before DA2?  "blinks"  Well er... maybe 1 more would be realistic, but two?    hehe..

Yes but also. while they were delaying DA:O for the sake of getting the game to release on all platforms on the same day, they had time to create the expansion and then some. The game was delayed quite a while!

Nah Morrigan is actually very sweet and a big softie, she just hides behind her Flemeth act! 
Besides if she would be the one that killed me I would at least die very happy! (Although I can think of better ways to die by Morrigans hand than getting poisoned) 


Besides I like Alistair as a fellow Gray Warden, but I would feel very uncomfortable if he started to cuddle with me and attempted to keep me warm at night...

Thank you!  Yes you can clearly tell she's thorn during the dark ritual conversation, she even mentions its very tempting to stay with you... From one side however its quite admirable that she goes through with what she must do even though she actually wants to stay with the warden...

Maybe... just maybe you could consider opening an "DAO off topic" thread in the storyline section where you could discuss anything that doesn't warrant it's own topic. Stuff like: what's your character doing, what are you planning on doing next... funny lines you've just discovered... etc etc..

It would be better than turning every romance topic into a chatroom.

I think that would be a good idea...  I think people looking for FAQ information will start to wonder what the hell we're on about by now hehe!
