Oh its great to know relationships and deeds will be acknowledged. I am actually glad that everyone wont cameo. I mean honestly it feels a little artificial. I think the game will be stronger for having a break from certain characters so that they dont become bloated or diluted and to give the writers energy for them with DA 2.

but oh, how i wish to see a Morrigan cameo... dark promise was my first ending and the one i want to pursuit all the way, its what intrigues me the most. but then again, and putting aside my morrigan nerdness, delaying her return until the sequel would probably be the best thing to do on the long run. otherwise it could just be pointless fan service

Totally agree- I'm ok with the romances being on hiatus in Awakening, so long as we get some sort of line or dialogue or something to indicate our choices from DAO. Something like the emails you can get in ME2 from old characters in ME1 really helps even if its just a little thing.

But I would love to have a Morrigan cameo, maybe at the end to lead in to whatever comes next? I mean Morrigan has interest in the Old Gods as does the Architect, right?

Man, I find myself losing more and more interest in the expansion with each new announcement... Ironic. I'm not too disappointed with the romances being cut, so long as the expansion honors my previous endeavors and choices I'm satisfied. A subtle hint or mentioning of the romance interest (even if h/she is not there) from Origins would be enough for me.

Two new specs per class an' new spells is really the only aspect that has my interest at this point. I'm not impressed with any of the new cast, nor the one returning for that matter. Not being able to import the entire Origins inventory is massive fail, in my book.

One more thing. It's been implied that romances should span across a large portion of the game before blossoming. If this' the case, and taking into consideration the lack of LI in Awakening, I question just how much content is going to be included in this expansion. From what I've read thus far, it's definitely not worth the asking price.

You may want to rewrite that part of the FAQ then. The wording does imply that the romance isn't imported all, not just that it isn't developed extensively.

The absence of previous DLC items is a no go for me, shame on you Bioware.

It's really nice to see someone so involved in the writing process reply to these concerns, especially personal continuity in and out of romances.

If anyone able to answer skims by here again, in terms of your save, what counts essentially as "character's romance at the end is Morrigan", the reason I ask is if you converse after the 'choice', you end up with the ring mentioned in your epilogue but the companion's approval is 100 (friend) whereas if you don't talk after 'the choice' you don't get the ring mentioned and such but the save ends up with her at 100 (love).

This isn't to say I expect Morrigan in awakening, I don't, at most I expect to hear a rumour, since this is amaranthine. But as the game does import choices to some extent I'd just like some confirmation on what does count in this scenario.

Even if I don't get a response, it is nice to hear such concerns addressed and I really appreciate that's been mentioned as really I didn't expect to hop back on to find any developer comments with regards to these matters.

– If my PC died at the end of Dragon Age: Origins how are they alive in Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening?

Meh, so I can't import my dead wardens decisions and then make a Orlesian warden. Taken together with other design decisions, I think I'm going to pass on this one.

Just regarding those asking about the romances, by "not continue" it just means you don't have a chance to actively continue the relationship during the course of this adventure. It does not mean that you mysteriously broke up or that the romance is not recognized to exist. I would have liked to have cameos by everyone, but that simply wasn't possible. As it is, you may find some treats awaiting you -- recognizing past decisions can be done in small ways, as well as large (and this applies to things outside of romances, as well).

Thanks for clearing that up, knowing that relationships are at least continued and recognized during the playthrough puts my mind at rest quite a bit!

Yep...that made my hole day too!

I still have one question left. Most of the weapons will be transfered (unless they are DLC content) but what about the things on companions? Should i load up the Epilogue save and strip them off?

The thing I'm most worried about is the mods. I only have the Respec mod and Kal-Sharok, but I fear that my saves won't work :(

Congrat I just cancelled my pre-order - no DLC items and no follow-up on Origin's story made it :(

I've thought about this as well, I'll have to do some testing come game day. I just hope FORCE load works.(remove all mods then force load and save, WALAA!)

What?

No Leliana? No Morrigan? No romances? So BioWare what you've basically done is taken what I loved most from DA and threw it out. Pre-order cancelled.

I was hoping DA:O:A would help me out of my ME2 romance blues, but it look like I'll be all out of luck for the second BioWare game in a row.

I'll probably still get the game but I'll be waiting for reviews and for it to drop in price first.

Not bad and nothing really disappointing here, it's not like romances were integral part to DA:O. I can live without them, all the better if we're getting a more focused story this time around. Only problem I see is how they decided to deal with the situation if PC is dead.... would've prefered if you basically started as Orlesian Warden instead, this whole "coming back to life" is just pandering.

No romances I can live with, for an expansion, just assume the character left his better half at home while he went out to save the world this time, no problem. No Leliana cameo is sucky though... and no DLC items? Well sheeeeeeeet. Is that a conscious decision or something they had to do to cut corners technologically? Most of my surviving characters have DLC armor or at the least Starfang so... meh. My excitedness just went down 10%.

strange, huh? how they manage to totally turn around my usual pattern while waiting is, uhm, awesome in some way

They did it maliciously, you know. The devs had your house bugged and your posts monitored, in order to find out precisely what you liked most in DAO, and then they chortled and drank champagne (okay, they're Canadian, so it would be Tim Hortons coffee) as they ruthlessly cut the romances and Leliana and Morrigan from their plans for Awakening.

So what will happen if you decide to make the new Warden? Will you chose a dead Warden for what happens in the world?

I would love to know that too, I actually made 2 endings for one of my characters, one that did talk to her at the final battle and one that did not. You do however only get the ring epilogue if you do talk to her and become friendly...

I've just seen this to be honest.

http://dragonage.bio.../awakening/faq/

So what is basically new:

- No new romance, not even the old one will continue :(

- Oghren is(finally) confirmed

- Cameos of Alistair, Loghain, Wynne and Anora depending on how your game turned out.

- Wade and Herren are back with new goodies

- DLC items will not be available

Thoughts?

That's sound really boring!
What's the point to buy DLC items if they're carried over through expansions ?
I just felt that I wasted my money, here.

So it's seems thatI was right about this expansion, it's will be just all about bashing new mobs <_<
What will do if your pc broke up with his / her lover because of the new mission ?

Hey all!

A few thoughts:

No Romances: Won't affect me, though I can see that being really annoying for a large group here who loved that sort of thing.

No DLC items carried over: Technically doesn't affect me yet (though I was planning on getting the Origins DLC before I played Awakening - not sure I will be now). This is a terrible decision from Bioware and I really don't understand it at all. People have paid their money for these items and its really not fair to allow them to carry on without those items. Secondly, I think Bioware are shooting themselves in the foot regarding any future DLC. Now that people know they won't be able to carry over DLC into different installments I can only see the sales of those items completely tail off. I mean is it a balance issue? I have read the stats and there doesn't seem to be anything unbalanced amongst the DLC items. Players might be fractionally better with it, but I don't expect the difference would unhinge the balance of Awakening would it? Honestly think Bioware should rescind this decision.

Number of New Spells and Talents: Pretty much what I expected. Though I am confused by the FAQ text which says "two new high level spell chains". Surely it means one new rank added to each core Spell Tree and Talent.

wth...what's with the uproar over the DLC items? who cares? i can't believe people bought DLC because of items, seriously? i bought them because i wanted to go to new places and do more quests, items are just a bonus that most of the time i don't even use cause there are better.

I am waiting for a review, if there isn't something DAMN MARVELOUS showing up effectively neutralizing all the shortcuts - than I'll save my money for DA2.
