I can't plug this gem of a game enough: <3

If you like Wall-E, robots, Professor Layton, point-&-click adventures, or just appreciate beautiful and imaginative visuals and music, then check out Machinarium!

You can play the beginning of the game as-is right there on the website, without registering or downloading anything.

I discovered that game through a now-forgotten forum post much like this one and now it's one of my all-time favorites, and definitely one of the best games of 2009, indie or otherwise.

You gotta love how they made everything a robot in that world!  from the bugs to the birds.

There's also some pretty neat easter-eggs in that demo, like the bored flashbacks or the fauna flying away when you hover the mouse over them.
