Since every mob has two lifebars. Either armor- , shield-, warphealth. The problem with a Vanguard is that has a hard time taking down mobs at distance. At the beginning of the play through you can’t really charge in because mobs simple one-shot you. You’re stuck with using all your ammo to kill mobs at a distance. And remember when your try to unlock Moradin and Garrus you only have two team members to depend on. So taking down shielding and or armor is a pain in the behind. So be prepared to die a view times. These first missions will be hard and you can hardly unlock to potential of your class. I also felt my char sucked, just ignore that feeling and keep on playing.
The final battle just before you take Grunts capsule was the hardest fight I experienced in ME2. I had Zaeed and Miranda killing the big mech. I was keeping one krogan in the air all the time with my pull. The view seconds I had while the krogan was floating a poppet a view shots on the mech. When the mech was finally dead it was a done deal. Took me a view tries.
The good part!
The mobs in the game seem to have 1 setting; just ‘insane’. So the mobs stay the same but you’re getting stronger, stronger and yes stronger. Missions took less time with each new upgrade. Just before the end I went to options menu to see if it was back on easy mode. Yes that’s how easy the insane mode will become once your upgraded. Just like on normal mode I was charging from one mob to the other, killing them with my shotgun in one hit. Make sure to pick the right team members for the job. So if a mission has loads of shielded mobs take to members with full overload so you can nonstop charge around the battlefield. (Garrus + Miranda)
The final Mission was a joke as well. I took Thane and Miranda. Both had Warp fully upgraded. Mobs fell like flies.
Skills
Barrier
I took barrier as my chosen skill. If you want to play like Rambo it’s nice to had strong backup shield. It save my life more then I can count.
Shockwave
Still a nice skill against husks. Nice to spray them with your sub-machine gun and to burn down there armor to knock them all of the edge with a nice shockwave. I had rank 3 or 2. A far less impressive skill when playing the insane mode. That’s my biggest beef with insane mode. Biotics are so useless until you take down shield. Since vanguards have no warp skill.
You should have more than enough element-zero. So respec a lot. Experiment with builds.
I didn’t read all the posts on this forum, I’m probably repeating other peoples input on insane mode. I hope my insight will help you finish insane mode. I really recommend trying insane. It doable and the combat is far more enjoyable in this mode. Just be patient.
Good luck.
