Biotics are fine, classes are fine, Insanity is fine; Reave is the problem

Try giving Samara Area Reave and then using Heavy Warp, and then you shall know true power!

I can kill Harbringer in about 3 warps. No gunfire. Only the 10% damage boost from my power armor. Plus it actually stuns him.

However I will give you that reave is a smart talent to take on Engineer. But reave is not the best thing in the game, it just feels that way because you've got one ability that works perfectly against the enemies you were facing in there.

Nah. Tried Area Reave. I was really disappointed. The area effect is much too small and the cooldown much too slow. It takes considerably more effort to use it as opposed to just gunning down all the Husks and letting them run into the Sing - it's almost like cutting them all to 40% HP or so.

As for Varren and Mech Dogs, well we're no longer talking about Drone vs. Singularity now, are we? Don't get me wrong - Drone is a fantastic power, but I don't think it's as powerful as Singularity.

Since when has it been about Drone versus Singularity on Husks? Your the one who brought up Singularity not me. I was talking about Drones on YMIR.

Yes, you were. You mentioned that it was an advantage for the Drone. I deferred because whether or not you have Drone, it's equally easy. Having Drone just allows you to be fancy about dismantling the Mech. YMMV.

That's really the thrust of my point here - those things aren't really all that hard, considering that you have at least two ways to cheese them with any class, and a third with Engineer. I think most people just get impressed at all the graphics.

It's trivial because of the cover system + the short but shared cooldown on powers and your health regenerating suits, not because of reave - although reave is insanely good because of it's low CD and versatility.

Game would be more difficult and more fun IMO if abilities had independent CDs depending on the function and power of the ability and you actually had to manage your health and med packs instead of ducking behind cover any time you get yourself into trouble.

The game mechanics are the problem, not reave.

Singularity is great, Hold, AoE, very good power, the drone is incredible tricky, it can do very good things but it's far more ... tricky again. Nevertheless please don't make this thread a singularity Vs Drone, they are incredible different powers.

BTW: Finished uploaded
Garrus dual mechs made easy. I've used a grenade launcher alpha-strike to speed up the video, I wanted a 2 mins video and the save I had on the map was very non ideal (sniper and thane-garrus on squad).

The most important thing about the video is not reave that against shields, is very weak, but as Gr00mgram said with this spot and the idiotic and easy behaviour of the YMIR mechs, even on insanity this encounter is very easy no matter class, skills etc. Maybe the should have made the crates where I cover in the video destructible to force you to run from spot to spot like in the Thresher maw.

Yeah, I'm starting to think like you, Global shared cooldown and fast regeneration rates are a problem.

Shields have to regenerate very fast or you are favoring turtling, but maybe life should regenerate more slowly and First Aid should have a most important role

IMO there's more powerful things in this game than Reave. You can honestly beat most of the game spamming 1 button abilities. I don't think it's really that some abilities are too powerful... it's just that the AI is too stupid and cover is really really powerful.

If you actually got swarmed by enemies out flanking your cover, you wouldn't be able to Reave your way to victory.

I've cleared collector platforms a few times before they landed on my Infiltrator using the Widow. I'd say something like that is far more powerful than Reave spam. :/

Drone is great and all, but going on about how it allows you to
handle YMIR Mechs (a rare opponent type) in a particular manner isn't
what I would call a notable feature advantage. As well, we could cite
how Singularity trivializes Husk encounters on pretty much all the
difficulty levels.

What if you don't use that spot? Or if someone didn't know about it?

As a skill for Samara it works, as a skill for the player who can use it more often and benefit more from its healing effect its too powerful. Fortunately there is a very easy solution. Don't use it. The game is meant to be fun and if you're sitting around spamming reave again and again you're probably not having a lot of fun, so don't do it.

For example, after the first time I used the Cain heavy weapon on a Praetorian I felt like I was cheating. Thus I haven't used the Cain since and I'm having much more fun with my missile launcher. Reave is the same way, if its too tempting to use it then simply pick a different power. , I suggest warp ammo the only thing Jack brought to the game that I truly love.
