Hey guys. Who are your typical squadmates for the hardest missions, and what skills/weapons do you guys equip on them and yourselves?

My team:

Me: Soldier, Vind battle rifle, Widow sniper, adren rush, conc shot, squad ap ammo
Garrus: Overload, conc shot, fully upgraded mantis rifle - vind battle rifle
Legion: Combat Drone, Geth shield boost, widow sniper, vind rifle

(All snipe squad =) .  )

I cant decide whether the squadmates are better off with Mantis or Viper, so i just gave Garrus the mantis, he seemed to pull off headshots 100% of the time with the mantis, while he only managed to hit the enemy with 50% of his shots using the viper.

I think really depends on what enemies you're fighting, but I always found Grunt and Miranda to be the most widely useful.

Miranda for Overload, Warp and squad +damage +hp

Other slot is either Thane (Sniper with +50% damage passive, Warp), Grunt (Regen, group Inc. Ammo, Shotty) or Garrus (Sniper, Group AP ammo, Overload).

Depends on the enemy, I found everyone has a use except Jack and Jacob (and Samara until she gets Reave)

Thane is better then Garrus. He has 50 percent weapon damage as a drell assasin. And his warp is good against the collectors.

class:
- Infiltrator / Assassin (Level 30)

Difficulty:
- Insanity

Stats:

- Level 2 AI Hacking
- Level 3 Disruptor Ammo
- Level 4 Assassin
- Level 4 Heavy Incinerate
- Level 4 Assassination Cloak
- Level 4 Tungsten Ammo [ Bonus Power: Armor-Piercing Ammo ]

Specialty:

- Precision Widow Long Range Sniper w/ Heavy Incinerate Spam

Preferred Squadmates:

- Miranda [ Heavy Warp / Heavy Overload ]
- Samara [ Heavy Reave / Heavy Throw ] or Garrus [ Heavy Overload / Tungsten Ammo ]
Before Samara's Loyalty Mission:
- Mordin [ Heavy Incinerate ] or Zaeed [ Heavy Disruptor Ammo ] or Grunt [ Inferno Ammo ]
- Miranda [ Heavy Warp / Heavy Overload ]

As an Infiltrator, Miranda is key. Warp and Overload are priceless, especially on Insanity. Then you add in the bonuses to squad health and squad weapon damage, and there is no reason not to bring her along. (Don't put any points into Slam).

And, Samara is better than both. Reave is much better than Warp.

She died to much. The ai seems to be bad, because she prefers to stop rockets with her head instead to shoot over cover.

Jack's Squad Warp Ammo is invaluable if you play as an Adept on Hardcore and/or Insanity. Jacob is pretty useless.

You never put Miranda in the open. That's just stupid. Leave her behind you in cover. If you know what you are doing she should rarely, if ever, get hit.

Squad commands doesnt help, because after some time squadmembers ignore it without have a reason for it.At least this is the case at the xbox.
And i dont like to babysit my squad anyway.

Haha, yeah, thane is probably better, but I just prefer garrus for some reason, maybe because he was with me from the beginning. I dont know.

Erroneous.

On Insanity difficulty with all biotic upgrades, you cannot one hit barriers with Warp or Reave on any enemy.

Reave is much more effective against Harbinger since it can be spammed much more frequently. Considering I can one hit Harbinger once it's barrier is down, it's not that big of a deal, but Reave can be used nonstop.

EDIT: [ REDACTED ]

I only play on XBOX, and there is no babysitting required. You simply place Miranda at a spot where she can be hit as you run by it to cover. It's not very difficult, and they only ignore commands after all enemies have been defeated.

Thats not correct. You can completely drain the barrier of enemies on insanity using reave, I do so every once in a while when I remember to use it on my Vanguard. I'll give you something specific even. Area Reave on Eclipse Initate :

Very much doubt I had all the biotic upgrades when I did that.

Sorry, I was referring to Collectors.

And yes, it is possible to completely drain, but it isn't instantaneous.

Also, Eclipse Initiates barriers are much, much weaker (at least 25%-33%) than Collector barriers.

Uhm no, it works fine on collector drones as well at least in the pc version of the game on insanity. Unless you are talking about Collector Guardians or Harbingers, but those are elite mobs.

Edit: I'd also be interested to know how you managed to get that damage over time thing you did there.
How is it possible to get a 1 sec cool down on Reave? Reave is not a DOT when applied to Armor/barrier it delivers all it's damage(double) at once. I haven't checked with Adept, but I assume they can do it faster then a Vanguard champion, in which case the lowest cool down on reave would be 3.9 seconds, not what you are suggesting.

I don't use Reave or Warp on Drones. I just one shot them with the Widow. I only use Reave and Warp on Assassins, Scions, Praetorians, Guardians and Harbingers.

Well that is my fault then. I didn't realize that. I assumed it was still a DOT attack. I use them as fire and forgets because I'm always targeting another hostile as soon as hit D-Pad left and/or right.

Sorry bout that. :innocent:

What about using Garrus and Moridin because of usefulness against armor?

Personally I never put Miranda anywhere she can shoot from so she won't be sticking her head out of cover to fire, usually just behind the biggest bit of cover I can find. That's because it's only Shepard's line of sight that matters when triggering a hench(wo)man's talents.
