That's an interesting way to look at it, I never interpreted it this way! I always assumed that he cared a lot for his assistant though, he probably simply isn't good at showing it. Or maybe his brain processes emotions and thoughts so fast that he forgets his concerns fairly quickly and moves on to more important things.

Perhaps I should watch his introduction scene again, I should probably pay special attention to the zooms this time, maybe they aren't quite as random as I thought at first.

Eyes are a big part of acting and the ability to convey emotion. There have been a lot of non-human character designs in film over the years where the eyes were central to selling the emotions and thoughts of the character to the audience - E.T., Johnny 5 (I think that was the name?) in Short Circuit, WALL-E, etc.

This is also a big part of what helps present Legion as more than just a robot! It's very neat.

I am the very model of a scientist salarian.  I study species turian, asari and batarian.  I'm quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology) because I am an expert (which I know is a tautology).  My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian I am the very model of a scientist salarian.

Superb stuff. As many have commented here, a really excellent character, being both well-written and well-acted. A genuine triumph of characterisation in a video game.

I have to say, I was very impressed with Mordin. I am generally anti-Salarian and rejoice in any opportunity to fight them, but I was very happy to have Mordin on my team.

Am I the only one who doesn't particularly like Mordin? I mean i'm not saying I dislike him, I just don't think he's the best character is all.

Indeed you are. Nothing bad about that, mind you, everyone's entitled to their own opinion! :)
But, ah... I suggest you watch your back in this thread. Just in case, of course :bandit:

That right there is 3 lines of comedic genius. The way he sings it makes it even more hilarious, especially that tiny cough after he's finished. Oh, Mordin! You should sing more in ME3. A lot more.

Oh, I know that eyes are very important when it comes to expressing emotions! I just didn't pay much attention to Mordin's eyes in that scene for some reason. I only saw it about 2 times anyway, but I'll pay more attention the next time I see it for sure!

Still, I did notice that many of his expressions are very well-made. For example, when he tells Shepard that he's not interested in his/her advances (That happens when Shepard isn't romancing anyone and you talk to him a lot) and Shepard tells him that s/he's not interested either, Mordin gets this really awkward expression that I found extremely fitting! Argh, I wish there was a video of that somewhere, it really surprised me, because it made me feel the awkwardness of the situation.

No, you're not! To each their own, and if you don't like him, that's alright.

But is there a specific reason why you found him rather unremarkable? Maybe he talks too fast for you? I could understand that reason, I was actually tempted to turn on the subtitles, because I didn't understand him sometimes.

Then again, that might've been because of the medical vocabulary that he uses quite frequently. Let's just say that the dictionary was my best friend while playing ME2. Ahem.

Agree w/ OP. My Shep went total paragon on Mordin on loyalty mission, practically accused him of war crimes, but she still likes him. Again, good job, BW! Hope he is in ME3.

Gotcha - Sorry if I sounded condescending or anything, that definitely wasn't my intent.

To elaborate on the eyes close-up thing though, I think another reason the example I mentioned works pretty well is because of a similar eye zoom shot earlier in the conversation (at least on one dialog path) where he is deducing what group you are representing/working with. It ends with "Cerberus sent you." (I think) and his eyes get slanted. It gives off a feeling of distrust and suspicion while also suggesting he is still trying to discern what Cerberus would want from him.

Those two close ups in juxtaposition, with very differing messages being sent in each, help strengthen the impact of both moments where the eyes and one line of dialog are imparting a lot of information about the character.

I spent that whole mission hammering him with Paragon guilt, and I like the guy so much I decided to throw him "I suppose in the end, you're right" even though it contradicted every conversation up til that point. xD

He has the most interesting jibber jabber to listen to. Even his "GO AWAY I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU" lines are awesome (the one about the Varren STD....lol)

That was awsomely hilarious. I loved that he almost always had a different excuse for not wanting to talk to you. Unlike SOME *cough*Garrus*cough* who is ALWAYS calibrating something. *headshake*

awesome scripting and awesome VA, mixed with excellent graphics and facial expressions. one of the best new characters from a game in a long time imo, the only one to compare would be the computer from portal, but that thing was just purely hilarious, no char depth.

This. He often made me think when talking about his job at the STG.
