Probably. I did kind of skim it.click2kill wrote...
Well, you must of missed my jokes about all this content that is being removed becoming DLC in Awakening, because you quoted me from a reply following one of them.
But yeah, I was underwhelmed by Origins DLC and I learned my lesson, especially since it disappears with each expansion.

In my mind people are putting to much of a deal in the DLC items not show up. I mean given that you will level up and more likely get stronger items than the DLC items why complain... It just doesn't make sense to me. I like the items and the look cool but I'm sure the armor in the expansion will also be cool and most likely be stronger since we will be able to get to a higher level...
We paid for them essentially we should keep them. I personally don't use any of them but that doesn't mean that I think its ok to disregard that content. Same engine, same interface, I mean ???????????
none of it makes sense to me, unless they are going through a complete rebalance of the game (which they should in some aspects) then locking out content or whatever you want to call it doesn't really do any good.

People get the wrong idea about DLC. It is almost the same as an expansion just smaller and cheaper. Some games like this one use DLC and expansions others dont. I mean if you add the time expansions add on to games with the times DLC's add to a game you get almost the same amount of time.
I wouldn't even say dlc is almost the same as an expansion, dlc is little addons that can be a quest, an item, a costume pack, or in game currency (Dante's Inferno just released dlc that gives 5000 souls which I guess is the currency used to upgrade gear/abilities) Anything a developer thinks they can get money for can be made into dlc. Even when they start deciding to cut little bits and pieces out to sell at extra cost later. Am I saying that bioware is doing this? No, not at the moment.
But if they do release a romance pack for awakening later for the companions then yes its what they did and most likely was told to do so by EA. It is something Bioware fans enjoy about their games and could easily be left out to charge for later as many would purchase it without questioning it. And as I said that is the type of DLC abuse that gamers fear could lead to my previous statement.
Like I also said earlier little extras = good, stuff that could/should have been already in game but left out due to rushing or just because you wanted to charge extra for it = not good.

Yeah well how can you tell its rushed or how can you tell its not an extra? Shale that was rushed but they gave it free so it was all good,Wardens keep... Maybe a bit of both. I dont think Ostagar or however you spell it was rushed and that was pretty cool. Even thought i totally was pissed off after seeing Cailan's body on that statue thing.
You do know Ostagar was released, then removed due to bugs, then released 3 weeks later, right?
And I'm not sure if PS3 users have access to that DLC yet.

Say you always go to the same sandwich shop (bioware) and you always order similar sandwiches and never have to ask for cheese (romances) Because from as much as you can remember it has always been a part of any sandwich you get from them. Now the sandwich shop has a new owner(EA) and suddenly you don't get cheese the next time you get a sandwich. This occurred because mr. new boss was rushing the employee that usually always takes your order and they weren't able to include the cheese. You are like ok well it is still a sandwich (and it is, just happens to missing something you are used to getting) And then as you are on your way out you are stopped by the employee and they inform you they can get you some cheese for an extra cost.
That is what it would be like if they add certain things as DLC such as romances.
Not a great analogy but it works.

Wouldn't the length of the expansion preclude the development of romances? Unless we are talking a short fling, the getting to know the other stage, the getting interested stage, the flirting and love stages, would be so compressed that it would feel awkward and unrealistic, I think..
If you want awkward and unrealistic how about Shepard's apparant inability to be physically intimate with someone unless everyone is convinced they have hours to live. The fact that it takes an external event is awkward and unrealistic, I much, much preferred the DA:O style of the relationship progressing naturally.
I prefer it to stretch out over the course of a game, but it was easy enough to do all the romance with a few interactions and a lot of gifts in DA:O. It's not how I did it, it's not my preferred method, but clearly you could do a romance in just a few minutes if that's how you wanted to play it.
I say if you have enough time to create fully developed NPC party members who may be friends or enemeis, there's no reason you can't create a well developed romance in that same time period. But YMMV.

Factoring in the fact that you can't guarentee the people playing DA2 have played DA makes it more troublesome to continue over stuff from the original game than an expansion that developers know needs the original game to play.
All in all I don't have much hope of saving the world with Leliana by my side again. :-(

I'm not as disappointed about no new romance so much as the fact that our old one are not going to be part of the game. I am going to be really pissed off if at the beginning of Awakening Alistair dumps my Pc, or worse he just never acknowledge he ever romanced the Pc.
Just regarding those asking about the romances, by "not continue" it
just means you don't have a chance to actively continue the
relationship during the course of this adventure. It does not mean that
you mysteriously broke up or that the romance is not recognized to
exist. I would have liked to have cameos by everyone, but that simply
wasn't possible. As it is, you may find some treats awaiting you --
recognizing past decisions can be done in small ways, as well as large
(and this applies to things outside of romances, as well).

The recognition could be just a codex entry for all we know.
"Your love stayed in Denerim waiting for you" ... or something like that
At the very best, it'll just be a cameo of your old romance saying hello. Don't expect it to by any different than ME2.
People who spend multiple hours trying to "perfect" their romance in origins are getting slapped in the face.

The centrality of romance and love to so many players' enjoyment of games such as Dragon Age never ceases to surprise me. In a pleasant way, of course.
