I think your right too...Honestly I will likely try it, if that be rent it or even watch a few spoilers on youtube. I just don't see the use in importing my character when nothing but story follows through.
I mean you start at like level 20 or so anyways, you can make your own character with the same stats...But that DLC was a really sneaky blow...

Well the dlc thing makesa little sense if you factor in future dlc. WHle they could let anythign from SP/WK/RtO carry over as they have known what items to code into awakening with plenty of time, any future DAO dlc would need to be coded for both DAO and Awakening which is what they are wantign to avoid most likely. But if that is it, it at least means they still intend to make DLC for Origins post Awakening release.

O yeah i totally agree on the DLC i dont really see why they dont put that in the expansion but i mean i dont think that destroys the game. The dead character thing is kinda odd also. I think it would have been cooler to have it that if you died killing the dragon then you should be a role model for some hopeful new Grey Warden recruit but still be dead haha. Bet hey its not like you have to carry over your dead character.

Yeah well we've all (Mostly me) have done our whining. I'm done for now at least, but I really hope they go back on this for once, hell it would be an awesomes symbollic thing with me if they listened to what the players want.

Only like what, those voltage guys making wii games seem to actually listen. Hehe, they actually put a crossbow into their Left 4 Dead clone game because a few people said it would be cool- and so far they're works are gaining in popularity, despite their low budget.

Worksa i kinda think that we are all being a bit pre mature on our stuff me to. I don't think i should really be defending the game when i only know a little tiny bit of what is going to be on and i don't think people should say it will suck because of a little tiny bit that we know wont be on. I mean for all we know they have so really cleaver idea in the game to fix all the problems. Or they have a really stupid idea that messes up the whole game. Who knows maybe there will be a DLC in DA A that will have some of the stuff from DLC of DA O but better for your stronger/ higher level character.

The dead character import  is cheap, and yet another example of the rushing, even the answer to it on the FAQ shows that. "If you don't care neither do we" really you don't care about an aspect of your own game?

pretty sure you knew how EA messing things up (just look at Mercs 2)
But im just saying since EA was on DA O and it was good i hope DA A
wont be total flop.

Yeah I still plan to get Awakening the no romances sucks but isn't a game breaker, and DA was well done even with the EA tag on it, however it was also in developement a few years before EA got their hands on bioware if I recall correctly. I will need to check later.

Hey hey hey Worsa give bioware credit. I see their writers on all the time talking to people and see what they want in the game. I would be shocked to see these people who are willing to spend time on the forum to talk to crazy fans like us not listen to us and atleast try to see if any of our ideas would work.

Well I gotta go, but this is my final stance on this: I will likely just get it used instead of new or pre-ordered, mainly because I'm hoping they may have removed like Cailens armor, but they are going to add some other awesome Paladin like armor...and so on and so fourth, If not, I will be disappointed, but it is just a game. I don't see myself taking Bioware (Or EA, I have a feeling it's likely their doing), as seriously as before, I mean, this is hardly an expansion to me.

Hope everyone else that does nto mind these issues enjoys it though, as I'm sure the story will be great despite the quick release.

The main thing I've learned from this thread is that there appears to be high demand for dating sim games. I wonder if EA's marketers are watching. It'd be a goldmine.

Well, EA has The Sims :)

No azure you are correct but it went underground. It was worked on a long time but i kinda think it will turn out to be like Avatar the movie. it has been worked on for years that the game got to be so long that split it up and have a good bit of extra writing to put in and ideas that they could make an expansion so shortly after original

He isnt saying he doesnt care but he is saying that if you guys want your characters you can use them it wont really effect other peoples games. If he brings his character back its not like my character will be unusable. So he is saying that if you want your character to be in the new game go ahead. Well thats what i get from what he says anyway. I thinks its an okay idea. I mean if i worked on my guy for 70+ hours making him great and really starting to like him but i didnt want to have do the ritual or let Alistair kill himself and my guy died i mean i would want to be able to use that guy. It changes the game but at the same time it really doesn't change the game all that much.

1.7 – If I had a romance in Origins, does it carry over into Awakening? (Back to top)

Romances do not carry forward in Awakening, because you are away from your previous life fighting a new threat.

Great...now i feel like they cheated...not only messing about remove DLC item but also messing with origins plot.

My character romance with Leliana and she suppose to be there with me....perfect...Bioware just put con on this expansion already.

Well..my pre-ordered still there although now i have less interest on this expansion

But it is cheap because it makes the story assume you survived and nullifies that ending. I would like to see the in game explanation for that honestly. Will it assume Riordan was still alive but on his way to death and the archdemon's soul saw him as a weakened target compared to you? Will it assume Morrigan somehow performed the ritual without you knowing? Will it be cheap and just say you somehow survived the soul collision? Or will it be completely cheap and not even mention it at all?

Azure thats just it. If you see it as cheap you don't do it thats what he was saying. He was saying that if you can over look it then go ahead. He isnt saying over looking it or you cant play. If someone doesnt want to think too much about it then they are fine. He was saying this option isn't for people like you who see it as cheap it is for the people who don't see it as cheap and Mandrake read this forum and you will actually see that they it has been said they will mention your relationship in the game your relationship just doesn't end it's more you guys take a vacation from each other or your guy is on a business trip or some other lame metaphor that can be thought up.

Yes, but I would have liked to import my ultimate sacrifice ending character and its choices and sacrifice carry over and be an inspiration referenced to by the orlesian warden you use and the new recruits you get.

My friend you forget that inbetween DA:O and DA:A the warden dies and is resurrected by the Feralden branch of Cerberus in order to complete the important mission.  You will meet Leliana but she will be mad at you and not join your party.  But don't worry there will be a big payoff in DA2...maybe...:crying:

Maybe the Grey Warden is just mostly dead.  There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead.  Mostly dead is slightly alive.  Maybe just a sprinkle of Andraste's Ashes and you'll be fine.

All joking aside, there's a funeral with that ending so I'm assuming your all dead.  Unless somehow you magically rise from your tomb in Weissupt like "Oh!  Hey guys!  I'm OK!  I was just taking a nap."

My assumption is they don't want to lock people out of their characters who made that choice.  I disagree with this, though.  It really funks up the story.  Sure, you can choose to not import that character but still..  I think it would have been more interesting to:

A)  Make your dead character choices effect the new one or
B)  Come up with a really interesting and feasible way for your character to return from the dead

But that would involve extra work they don't want to do, apparently.

I don't read anywhere where this still isn't possible to do - it said:

"If a player wants to, they can import their "Dead Warden" into
Awakening and play as them. For the story it's assumed that they didn't
make the ultimate sacrifice, instead somehow survived. A player would
start as the same level with the same gear as their "Dead Warden".
Essentially, if a player doesn't have a problem hand-waiving the story
in this regard - neither do we.
"

To me, this reads as, "If you decided afterwards that making the ultimate sacrifice sort of sucked and you had a lot of fun playing as your Warden, if you're willing to engage in a suspension of disbelief regarding how he/she managed to live through facing the Archdemon, we don't have a problem with it either and will let you do it."

The option to make an Orlesian Warden and continue on with your original Warden being dead is still there.

I actually think this is a pretty smart decision on their part. People become attached to their characters, even after making the sacrifice and this is giving them a free do-over. It doesn't hurt anyone by allowing it, and if said player just wants the Archdemon to be their character's swan song, then they still can. Remember, it's you, the player, making the choice about which character you import. You don't have to select dead_warden_sacrifice01 save if you don't want to.

"Players can also choose an advanced option to choose a specific save
game instead of the most recent save game for that character if they
desire.
"

So it can even be a save prior to the Archdemon being dead. Just somehow the Archdemon gets dealt with (maybe if you choose that, Riordin took care of business like he should have in the first place, rather than forcing me to make a devil's bargain with a swamp witch).

It may be a joke (maybe not) but as rushed as awakening seems  I wouldn't be surprised to see alot of dlc that should have been included from the start.

And Sresla I would love to be wrong and that option be there but I severely doubt it will be the case.

Hey thats the thing im willing to pay some money to make the game perfect. Heck i played wow and runescape and games like that and would pay 15 dollars a month. I will pay 7-15 bucks every couple of months to make the game great if i really have to. DLC isnt a bad thing if it adds stuff to the story at the same time. I mean if i get a a couple of hours of gameplay, some bugs/ lose ends fixed, and kick butt new objects i will be pretty happy.

Well, members of an older generation remember when their games were sold 100% complete, not this "70% complete with a payment plan for the other 30%" the video game industry has become.  Though, I'll save these boards that rant, as its svheme all companies use these days.

Are the romances even going to be referred to, even if they can't be continued? It seems silly that no one will mention to your future Queen Warden that she's...ya know...practically royalty and going to miss her own wedding if she doesn't get this little Darkspawn problem sorted sharpish.

Yes, David Gaider has confirmed that the existence of the romances will not pass without comment. :)

They'd better mention the romance somewhere. Having played ME2, this whole "anti-romance" thing BW has going on is really starting to tick me off. I have also put a reservation on Awakening and I'm not too sure that I even want the game now.
