DLC item transfer?

"Will my items, armor, stats, etc transfer over if I import my character from Dragon Age: Origins?
Almost all items are imported with your character. The only exceptions are the Origins promotional items and DLC loot, which were meant for Origins alone."
Does that mean that I loose all the equipment from every DLC of DAO, like the Warden Commander Armour, Cailans Armour or Duncans Weapons etc.?

I suppose it doesn't matter too much as long as we get given decent items to start with.

Except officially Awakening is also just "for" Dragon Age: Origins as it is a DLC.
I agree with you and I don't know the legality of it all but since it is being sold in stores it probably counts as a game or something.

wahts the point on buying wardens keep or RTO (which is obviously just for the loot) and then cant use it in further expansions
especially in awakening im called warden commander but without warden commander armor the charakter gonna look like an idiot XD

True true.
Still doesnt mean it makes any sense. I mean, is this character even realy the Warden from Origins? Romance ties cut, gear lost...and I'm sure there are other things that we dont know about that are being left behind. As far as any of us know, this Warden is the Origins Warden in apperance and skills alone. Might as well have been a freaking test tube baby, maybe the result of some Blood Magic.

As for romances I thought that they would still be referenced and stuff just that the characters themselves might not show up as they are back in Denerim or wherever while you sort out this new Warden base.
I suppose it's to avoid the problem of having to record the voices and implement Leliana, Alastair, Morrigan and Zevran all in there. Alastair and Morrigan kinda have valid reasons for not appearing/only doing cameos but if they added Leliana and Zev as NPCs at the camp or something I think there would be more complaints that we couldn't recruit them into the party.
I'm getting the impression that they want Awakenings to focus more on the new characters, still the devs have said they plan on more content so here's hoping for future expansions to involve some of the other members.

So do I start playing Awakenings in my underwear then? It just makes no sense ....Lethal_Liam wrote...

Guess I'll have to just start a new character and not import the ones that I played through Origins with. They're all wearing DLC armor and using DLC weapons, and of course I sold everything that I wasn't using to save inventory space. There aren't any vendors in the epilogue, so I guess I'd have to go back, buy new gear, complete the whole ending again, and then import my character?

Well you could load your epilogue save go to camp, and get whatever junk Bodhan has and make a manual epilogue like save to import. I guess, still I would like a better reason than "meant for origins". Not like the expansion isn't also meant for origins.

I would guess that all has to do with
licensing issues with Xbox 360 and PS3. When you buy a DLC from them
you are really just buying the license for it saying you are allowed to
own it. So they are just for that game. Bioware would have to make you
re-download or re-buy all those things by order of how DLC works for
the 360 and PS3.
I severely doubt this. All the DLC does is add code to your game/unlock it. The only reson I see them using "meant for origins", is that they still intend to release DLC for origins post Awakening, and they do not want to have to test /add item coding to awakening every time they make a new DAO dlc. (that is my guess as the actual meaning behind "meant for origins" is)
Why they didn't include current dlc items I do not know. As they were out with plenty of time to add the items to awakening. (even though delayed, they knew what items were going to be in rto) Future DAO dlc makes sense, currently available not so much.

Most of my stuff was sold to other merchants. Bodhan's prices are terrible. Besides, this is all quite silly. I should be able to import a character and keep whatever gear he's wearing. I can't at all see the logic behind the decision to strip characters of their DLC items.
I'm willing to be that within a week of launch, someone creates an Awakening mod that fixes it. I guess I'll just have to wait for that.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you, I love my Warden Commander Armor. And i did refer to bodan's stuff as junk, Sadly until I have the extra income to builda new pc, mods can't help me.

I'm not going to bother playing it wiith every charecter I've made when the only thing that carries over is EXP. I'd probably only get to play it with one charecter before the expansion and for the likely price playing it once and only once is just not worth it.

Yeah I was already iffy on it due to the no information delay we have(and blatant lie if the one call transcript is accurate), as well as hearing about it from those that have it. A little bit of story I can always read on the wiki or watch on youtube. Since that is all the reward you get from it that carries over. Suppose that is the bright side to the ps3 delay, we got the knowledge dlc items don't carry over to influence our decision to buy it or not.

The more I think about it, the lack of DLC item transfer seems less and less intentional and more like "we can't figure out how to make it happen and we've already set the ridiculously early release date so... eff it."
Or, to quote the Awakening FAQ: "If you don't care, we don't!"
Sadly, some of us do care =D
