Why should such things matter? The story is what's important. Sure, I wish Leliana would frolic with me all over Thedas, but the fact that she isn't is far from sale breaking for me. The game is bout story, not romance and DLC. People who are whining about this seem rather loser-ly to me.worksa8 wrote...
I'm so frustrated with this...Why not just add the DLC and Romance options and make everyone happy- rather then remove them and lose sales/interest in the expanions and even original game for some (like me),
Present company excepted, of course.

You know, this scenario reminds me of the prison section of Origins, where you and Alistair are nekid in a cell, but once freed, can get all your equipment back from a single chest.
Could there be a similar mechanism (chest with dlc loot) implemented in Awakening at the start of the game?
Maybe Bioware could log what dlc gear we have on our chars at end-game (from our online char profiles) and then give us and opportunity to download modified replications of said gear onto the new expansion (if the transferring process is what the real technical issue is here). ???
Could that help? (lol, I'm not a technically-minded person, but I hope that my idea might lead to other more practical solutions, possibly?)
then again, this solution would require further programming/development time, and potentially costs, and BW might not think such a sacrifice is worth it (?) ...
All I know is that I would be extremely grateful, as my warrior dual-wielding chick will be left without an offhand, otherwise !
my mage will be cool whatever the case tho - he don't need no primitive weapons or fancy shiny armor, lol XD

If not, try and understand that it DOES matter to me- on a very large scale, just like the story or romances might matter to you.

It's not that, this decision impacted those who actually put their time in romancing a character, and got an ending that says either Zevran or Leilana traveling with them. I wouldn't be surprised about Alistair or Morrigan not joining, for obvious reasons. As long as my Dwarf gets his sexy times, it's all fine with me. If he can't, well it would be awkard for him. My Elf would feel some alternate methods, besides killing people for her satisfication. But yeah, I am not really affected by the DLC. Though feel, I dunno, how inconsistent they are with the decision with origin's relationship. Wonder how they are gonna deal with it in game however. Damn, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is not this bad, jeez. One part of the game you could even choose who was the last protaganist's love interest, and she would had been it. (Note that game is a full game, more of a spin-off which won't be canon). But hey, at least you don't end up being in the same level, unable to change your equipment

Indeed I agree with you- DLC and romances SHOULD carry over. I am also upset that they don't, don't get me wrong- but I'm not going to swear off the game because they don't.worksa8 wrote...
So some of you might not care about the DLC in this or not, personally I would rather have it then not, surely you agree to that?

Still, I don't share your optimisim...This "expansion" seems a bit rushed, and I have a feeling that maybe along with content, the story will suffer as well. That is just one thing we can't know for sure until the release though.

Errm, hate to be blunt, but what's the point? If it's stats you're after you'll get better stuff soon enough given that level cap is being raised. If it's sentimental value... well, no good answer there. Man up.
1- All the other items carry over. There's no reason for DLC not to carry over as well.
2- I, and probably others, have characters who are outfitted with nothing but DLC equipment. They will start Awakening without any armor or weapons unless, for some reason, the expansion gives you a full set of equipment when you start, which seems like it would be more complicated than just letting DLC items carry over.

See I wish I could feel that way, but this news just hits be a little bit harder for a few reasons. I mean, it's left me with a "Why bother" out look to the whole series, despite my massive consumer attitutde toward it all and possibly well over a thousand hours in game (Adding both me and my sister's gametime. We have pretty much exhausted every possibility. I mean this IS my favorite game right now)Angel of Nessus wrote...

Basically, Wade could become the M. D. replacement-advancement throughout all the Dragon Age segments, no DLC loot required. (DLCs would become simple area, storyline and history additions over extra goodies hooks.) This could possibly be the reason for the DLC conflict (no duplicate UNIQUE items) and they just want to avoid SPOILERS by saying that.
Fingers crossed.
Now, with this in mind I've a question. In my first play-through, even before I purchased Warden's Keep I found a hunk of star metal. Does that make it DLC content or is it something I could keep in my pack next play-through to bring to Wade in Awakening?
As for the items I am going to lose, I suppose I will de-rune and sell everything to have some extra sovereigns on hand for the expansion, jump into some cool upgrades (over what you will be outfitted in anyways,) right away. Better that route than high blood pressure over this thing, that is just a game after all, yes? Well, that's my two coppers at least.
