Check out the cool new Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening page now available on the Dragon Age website here: http://dragonage.bio....com/awakening/

This page is your source for Awakening information. There are cool new headers featuring the Architect and other creatures you will find during your travels, there are world updates with characters, creatures and environments, there is an Awakening FAQ and there is an all new Penny Arcade Awakening comic from our friends Gabe & Tycho of Penny Aracde. Each week, there will be a new page.

Make sure you keep checking the site for Awakening information, and starting next week Awakening wiki updates, as we get closer and closer to Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening launch. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

Chris, do you know why it was decided to not allow the DLC items to transfer to the Awakening expansion? I'm not complaining. Just curious. Thanks for your time!

Because it takes place in Orlais and not Ferelden, maybe?

Isn't it Amaranthine, Arl Howe's old Arldom? I'm pretty sure that is it.

The Orlesians come in to buff the number of GW in Ferelden from 3, 2 or 1.

Probably the same reason why you can't bring the chest from Soldiers Peak with you...tech difficulties, as DK sais.

I don't know what I'm supposed to do without Warden Commander Armour or Starfang. They're two of my favourite items. At least we'll get some toys to play with.

Mods will fix the DLC issues IMO. Best that Bio doesn't waste their time with it. And yes, I feel bad once again for the poor console players.

*loads up his game to dump all the DLC items on his other party members*, oh well, Keening Blade and The Veshialle it is, then... R.I.P. Starfang.

It is indeed Amaranthine and not Orlais.  Amaranthine's about as far from Orlais as Denerim is.

I guess I could live without the romances, but the DLC??

What a waste of money that was!

I don't understand why dlc items don't transfer of course I don't care about the warden commander armor though since its bugged on the 360 to not give a set bonus. Also to the guy who said this takes place in Orlais it doesn't its still in Fereldan.

wow so this is how they are handling dlc for dragon age? 2 years worth of promised dlc of which the loot mysteriously vanishes whenever an expansion is released. not only are the dlc's the most pain in the ass things to get working for so many people it turns out even what you get from them isnt something you can keep with your character.

in all honesty i think this is bioware's attempt to cut out the uber loot from the dlc, and promo items.

im just glad all the dlc gear is crap and that my warden will throw it all away when i import her into awakenings *sarcasm*

If our characters are still in Ferelden, then why are our old companions 'left behind' even if at the end of Origins some remained at your side? They've fought a blight before. Why are they sudenly rendered incapable? I think the reason people are assuming it's in a whole nother country is to justify this excuse that you 'had to leave your companions behind'... that would make slightly more sence if you're in some far off land that is only welcoming you because you're a Warden. But if it's true that this is still in Ferelden, then yeah... wtf? If there's a reason why a character is no longer available because of the choices you made before the main story ended, that's fine.... But if it says you and another character traveled together, or you and another character rule the kingdom or are in the court of Alistair or some such.... it's not adding up. And I really felt like Origins was just the beginning of my story with these wonderful characters. I hope this expansion is a fluke, because I will be highly disapointed if the mere handfull of dialogues you got with the characters you bonded with are all you'll ever get. These characters are too great to just be brushed aside, so I hope the devs still have big plans for them. I could do entire threads of ideas for expansions dealing with the old characters.

Also, that we can't carry over dlc items leaves me glad that I've not bought any yet. dodged that bullet. I'm not sure how worth it they are. depends on the scope of the quests, whether or not the new locations and items will be use full or revisited in further installments... If all you actually get is an hour or two more gameplay, then it might not be worth the money.

As it stands, paying the price of a whole new game for a mere expansion seems obsurd! I'll go buy some second hand PS2 games for half the cost and enjoy a great deal more gameplay, I bet. There's still a lot out there I haven't played because it USED to be too expensive. lol Do better Bioware. ;) I'm in like with you, not in love with you. woo me.

No offence Bioware I love the game but you are doing your best to destroy it, first with the DLC delays and now with decisions like not being able to use DLC loot from DAO which is some of the best in the game. How hard can it be to add these items to the game.

Nice call on the no DLC items decision. I guess you want to train all of your customers that buying DLC is generally pointless. The core game is pretty impressive, but every add-on feels pretty half-assed to me.

I thought expansions were supposed to... well... expand the game. This sounds like if the DLC is actually expanding it with equipment and stories that affect the rest of the game, whilst Awakenings is instead an epilogue that does not feed into the original game at all.

From the many posts by customers who are upset about various things that would be expected of an expansion, it would seem Awakenings has been mis-branded.

So I can take my items from one DLC into another DLC...but...I can't take it into this glorified DLC that's being misnamed as an expansion? It's the same game, just an expansion. There's no reason not to have DLC items carry over.

I have no idea how you can call this the new version of Baldurs Gate. You are taking the easy road in so many places, and the DLC content so far has been crap, and you know it. Come on all of the expansions together takes me around 1,5 hours to complete, and thats 3 DLC expansions.

In Baldurs gate you had 1 expansiopn that you payed for. There was a huge amount of new content, dialog and the ending of both baldurs gate and ToB felt really really epic. Here so far you fight a buggy buggy dragon that can be soloed by any char because its scripting makes it stand still half the fight. I'm so dissapinted by this entire game. Please dont call this a new Baldurs Gate when you do such a half assed job on it :s

What I am confused about is what happens if your PC is king/queen consort? No continuation of the romance means you aren't married any more or what? Or you are but you are off on your own with your spouse ruling while you rebuild the wardens?

@Kazic284

There was a post by David Gaider that clarified that you are still in a relationship with whomever you were in Origins. But apparently you cannot further it because you go off to deal with something new away from them. So you should still be married if you chose the throne. I sure hope I will be.
