I'm more interested in the words than who the character may or may not be. What HAS happened to the Grey Wardens? What do they do when there's not a blight to prevent? Has something gone horribly wrong between Origins and Awakening that has put the Wardens in a precarious position? Hmm, things to ponder.

Also, there are only 4 weeks until Awakening's release but room for 5 comics. Perhaps we'll be getting two at once towards the end.

The way I'm figuring things is that the canon for the Orlesian Grey Warden is that the OC character did the Ultimate sacrifice, so it's possible that the Grey Wardens of Ferelden have been leaderless for whatever the time period is between the end of the OC and the start of his storyline.

Not to mention the fact that regardless of the ending, the Grey Wardens of Ferelden went from hundreds down to 2 at Ostagar.  Compounded with the fact that if you are dead then no one other than Alister could possibly be trying to rebuild the Ferelden GW chapter, and well I don't see him being all that effective TBH. :P

Page 2 of the Penny Arcade Awakening comic is now available.

The mysterious stranger  gets past the outer walls of Vigils' Keep. What fate awits him inside?

Check back next Friday for page 3.

The Howes had to pretty much be forced to fight against the orlesians if I remember correctly. The old arl of Amaranthine who died during the rebellion, he was a good man and would turn in his grave if he saw his keep turned over to orlesians, but he'd turn in his grave if he saw arl Howe in his keep as well.

Now arl Howe's lip would curl at anyone having anything that he doesn't have, be they orlesians, fereldans or nugs.

Whoever the mysterious stranger is, he is pretty ignorant.

I think people can dismiss him being the Orlesian warden now, right?

Edit: And I persist in my faith of him becoming Skeletor.

My guess, he'll be captured, and they put him through the joining. Probably not, but at this point, everything is a shot in the dark.

Ooo, he's not a Warden like I thought he was. I'm thinking new companion!

This fellow forgets that the Howes were collaborators before they were forced to the other side. That, or he doesn't know.

I think he means recent events with Loghain and Howe collaborating in keeping the Orlesian GW out. And I think it was mostly Howe's idea.

Loghain's paranoia regarding Orlais does not need a Howe to feed it. I think Loghain was pretty much capable of not wanting chevaliers in Ferelden without Howe whispering in his ear.
Howe on the other side doesn't care who sits on the throne, unless he himself could somehow make a grab for it.

And I thought so from the very moment I saw the 1st page. And I still think so ;)

Ha, you know, he could be the male rogue everyone's wondering about on the character video threads...

I've been wondering that myself. It makes sense as 1) they look vaguely similar, 2 )he's infiltrating your base, and 3) despite the fact he's in, like *every* video, we have yet to learn anything about him or even what his name is.

I'm fascinated! I really hope the mysterious stranger is someone that will be well featured in Awakening. I really like his style!

Penny Arcade is awesome, and I find it very interesting that the protagonist of this comic actually believes in Arle Howe's ideals - considering what he did to the pcs and the kingdom in Origins. I have faith they'll tell a good story, but I will have a difficult time cheering for this character.

Damn, I love Penny-Arcade's artwork. It's very stylish and cartoonish, but somehow it WORKS with the darker worlds like Dragon Age and Splinter Cell.

Although I would much rather wait for it to be released in one large bulk rather then very slowly over the course of a month or two.

I hope the Grey Wardens in Awakening don't become the overused "protectors of humanity at all cost" cliche. I hope they're still that real, sometimes scheming faction that's not above joining rebellions, conducting forbidden experiments to gain more power, and arrogantly believing that they're always right, like in Warden's Keep. I played it at a friend's place and was surprised at how good it was. Lots of interesting lore there.

Hmm, another really pro-Fereleden-anti-Orlais type person. Sooo this could mean he is a bit older, probably was around during the war that drove the Orlesians out. Interesting. I am all for some more political-intrigue kind of stuff. what else are the Grey Wardens, a neutral group full of people from all nations of Thedas, going to get wrapped up in when there isn't an Archdemon on the loose? This could be very interesting indeed!

Hm... well, the dual-wielder companion could be Howe, why not? But remembering how one particular Orlais-paranoid person almost gave all the Ferelden to the Blight... I don't think I'll trust the guy.
