I never noticed that it could be Kelly in that scene; but I've heard it before.
And it would kinda make sense for TIM to place an additional agent on the ship, who isn't already obviously working for him, and can get very close to Shepard. Kelly is perfect for that.

Exactly. I don't trust her. Very basic instinct...

I thought of it ... a honneypot trap. :?

But in that case she is at once the best liar in the universe and the biggest idiot at the same time. Person like that would not risk everything. So I had to fold that idea.

Where would she need such exceptional lying skills? And what risk is she taking (except being on the Normandy at all which can hardly be avoided)?

The only counter-argument I can think of is that EDI already makes a perfect additional agent. And the loyalty of an AI is probably easier to ensure than that of a young woman.

My paranoid impression of her was that her "side job" of monitoring the crew's mental well-being sounded an awful lot like the duties of a Loyalty Officer, or whatever those people on USSR military vessels were called.  Or like in the game Paranoia.  Commander Shepard is a really charismatic leader with a lot of valid reasons to distrust/dislike Cerberus, so her job might be to try and soften Shepard's stance on Cerberus while at the same time making sure that Shepard doesn't sway the rest of the crew from their Cerberus loyalties.

Her and Miranda's comments about Cerberus having "harsh" methods is a joke if you've played Mass Effect 1.  The word "harsh" doesn't even begin to cover just the things you know they did, especially hunting down and murdering that Admiral and then tossing his carcass in the pen with critters.  Or setting up Dragon's Teeth on a colony in Colony of the Dead.  Honestly, I wanted to just punch Kelly and Miranda in the face each time they explained to me how Cerberus was so good despite the seemingly "harsh" methods they used sometimes.

She's either a naive and perky woman who doesn't really understand the organization she works for, or she is Operative Chambers who was assigned as Shepard's "good cop" handler.

I never noticed her in that scene nor did I think about that. Having Kelly as a spy would make for a really interesting plot twist though.

I always figured Kelly had two unofficial jobs. I'm sure she's honestly there as Yeoman/psych officer and all. But at the end of the day, anyone who has some sort of access to your inbox is surely reporting to the Illusive Man. In her position, she hardly even has to lie (unless Shepard asks her directly) - just omit being in contact with IM.
