This is an observation of the behavior of individuals that consider themselves to be superior based on the tools they use to be a gamer. Though this is pointless because the internet is full of people that have suddenly "grown a pair" because of the anonymous nature of the internet, and that will always be the case wherever you look online.

I cant however help wondering what exactly possesses people to act in such a way, did they get picked on when they were young, did someone different than themselves do something to invoke such anger and arrogance?

It typically starts the same way on here everytime, someone says what's the deal with _________, if it applies to console, someone whom I consider a PC elitist decides to chime in with "shoulda got it on pc, and thrown your suxbox away", or "obviously this topic is for morons that bought a console", "I'm on pc and I dont have this problem I also have more than 2 brain cells and that's why I'm better than you because I am a pc gamer" type of garbage and nonsense. Sure console elitist's do the same from time to time, but I see more flak being shot at console owners on here than the other way around. Console elitist's/fanboys typically delve into the whole PS3 suxorz 360 pwnz u kind of crap, or at least I can look at porn on my console which mean 360 is for ****s type of crap.

Is it pride? Why cant people comprehend that platform A is not being forced upon you, nobody is coming into your house and holding a gun to your head making you play a game on console or PC, so why so much anger?
Why do they feel the need to bash whatever you paid good money for? Do you feel pieces of plastic and chips make you more of a person, or superior than another? I really dont get it.

I play on 360, PC, and PS3, all of my devices go to my highdef tv, my controllers are wireless, and my mouse and keyboard are wireless, so maybe that is the reason I am not biased about it. Why cant everyone enjoy themselves and what they have that brings them that enjoyment, and just shut the hell up with the bs. It's one thing to have an opinion but it's another thing entirely to act like a raging **** because someone plays a game on a different system, if you want a comparison on who that behavior reminds me of, radical zealots determined to destroy all who have a different religion. And they are still cowards just as these folks I'm talking about are.

If this were a dark alley somewhere and you went up to someone and said you're a retard because _________, you'd likely get your ass kicked. And maybe that's what it is, maybe this behavior is exhibited on the internet because in real life they get walked on all the time, and this is the only place they have a false sense of courage.

Just something to roll around, any other theories are welcome, but if you display this behavior and read this maybe think long and hard about what you're doing and maybe consider a bit of humility for a change.

I really only use the computer to play simulation/strategy games because they play best on there. Everything else I play on the console.

The story of the internet. It's been said before, but that doesn't make it any less true. May the powers that be have mercy on our souls. Also, mudkipz.

Like I said I get it, the internet is full of it but it surely doesnt excuse the behavior, and surely the majority cant see it as a "cool" thing to do or aspire to be like.

I'm the same, way, though I really enjoyed Halo Wars, and Civ Revolution for 360, very good games and the controls were polished quite well too. But if there was a multiplatform release of Company of Heroes, and you'd rather play in on PC because it's what you prefer, would you feel the need to be a complete ass to someone that got it for a different platform?

I totally agree i own a 360, ps3, and pc because i like to play games on all 3 of the systems. I buy games mostly for the console because it is a better option for me at school with roommates and friends wanting to play all of the time. I also buy pc games because some games are better on the pc like unreal tournament.

And the attitude you have towards it all and being a true gamer is out****ingstanding.

I never understood this mentality. PC versus console. Console versus console. It's always seemed ridiculous to me. Then again people have a tendency to do this in other areas of life. Many enjoy throwing their lot in with one side and blindly railing against the other come hell or high water. The idea of loyalty to one gaming platform is silly. My opinion is play games on whatever set-up offers the most software you are interested in. If you can afford them all, all the better. The only reason I stuck with my PC during this console generation is because nothing on 360 or PS3 captured enough of my interest for me to justify a purchase. That does not automatically make them inferior. They merely do not cater to my current interests.

No....its simply becasue the pc IS the superior machine.

And its not fanboy'ism....or any other ism actually...not a fan of isms in general...they never good things...but anyway....

Seriously though, how can a console, with limited memory, years old architecture and hardware resources, virtually no hard drive space (a friend of mine upgraded the other day....he was boasting about his 160gb drive lol...jeesh) compete with brand new cutting edge technology froma pc?

Its not favourtism (theres another ism)....its simple hardware fact....

Now some people do get a little carried away (they are morons your right)....but I think what grates a lot of pc users (who usually have gone to great lenght, time and expense 'building' a machine, myself included) is the console users who actually have the brass ones to say thata console is superior?

Yes we all like platform wars, myself included, they can be a good laugh, but when it gets 'serious', there is no comparison between the two.

Also, it irks pc users (and thus flame wars errupt) like in ME2 or DA that pc users who have the better technology get shafted on graphics and textures because they had to be dumbed down for the console users to enjoy the game too?

There is lots of problems with games on te console, and I feel for you, but at the same time the pc user gets shafted a lot too 'because' of the limited ability of a console.

So it goes hand in hand, and thus, after all the above, thats where all the hate comes from. Now I am a pc gamer, happy with it, don't even own a console (cant see the point) but I hope you took my post as constructive and not trying to start another war, which is not my intention :)

Peace :)

You're not going to like this but that's your opinion and well deserved opinion at that, PC's are a long term investment, believe me I know, but it's your opinion that PC's are superior. Hardware capabilities prove strong, obviously, however economics vs preference vs what someone is comfortable with vs friends vs family etc are variables to consider as well, I used to be straight up FPS for PC only, CS, DoD, Unreal, COD, Wolfenstein etc, but my older brother got N64 and I got hooked on playing with 3 other people in the room and connecting via Goldeneye. I still play PC quite a bit but me and my brother have 360's I play with him on live all the time. Point is variables are a huge factor, if you said this machine can do adv hw shading, so on and so forth, but then the other machine does _________ which is more appealing then typically that's the option.

And its not fanboy'ism....or any other ism actually...not a fan of isms in general...they never good things...but anyway....

No, you dont come off as fanboyish, a proud PC gamer but not a fanboy.

Seriously though, how can a console, with limited memory, years old architecture and hardware resources, virtually no hard drive space (a friend of mine upgraded the other day....he was boasting about his 160gb drive lol...jeesh) compete with brand new cutting edge technology froma pc?

I agree to a certain extent because it puts me off that there isnt a 1/2 TB or above option for console, you can put one in a PS3 but all I could get mine to recognize memory wise was 250GB. 360 had a COD and an upcoming FF console with a 250GB hdd but hell I just want the damn HDD. But also consider casual gaming doesnt require that much space, most of my 360 HDD consists of Game Installs for games I play alot of, and Rock Band Tracks, sure there is a good amount of DLC for some games, but nothing to really push it's limits.

I can understand cutting loose on someone like that, but I'm mainly referring to people that will go into a console topic, and just start spewing bs and anger or being a complete ass for no reason other then they think it's funny or cool. I'd hate to think they feel they are representing in any way at all, people like that make me not so proud of some platforms.

DA:O was developed for PC, and ported by EDGE of Reality for PS3 and 360, that's why the graphics suffer immensely on console, and to a point that was not called for, and yes even for PS3 with it's massive storage space on BD. It didnt use the Unreal Engine as was the case for the ME games so maybe like me you were expecting that level of quality.

There is lots of problems with games on te console, and I feel for you, but at the same time the pc user gets shafted a lot too 'because' of the limited ability of a console.

As I said I'm a multi-platform gamer I love all my gaming devices, all have pro's and con's and that's why I chose diversity in my gaming.

So it goes hand in hand, and thus, after all the above, thats where all the hate comes from. Now I am a pc gamer, happy with it, don't even own a console (cant see the point) but I hope you took my post as constructive and not trying to start another war, which is not my intention :)

It's nice to get a mature strictly PC gamer perspective on the matter.

Peace :)

Thanks for the commnts operative :)

Yes, your first point is possibly key and thus renders any platform war/hate irrelevent.

I have few friends, currently live my mother (dad died recently) and the friends I do have live a great distance from me, and those that dont have wives, mistresses and 49 kids each lol (or it sounds like it at times lmao)...

So yes, really when buying the game, a lot of the time it comes down to the 'enviroment' you want to play in. Me, Im ahppy to sit at a desk at my monitor and enjoy myself. That said, you can beat a good driving/fighting game, whist easting pizza and drinking beer with your mates....

So to me, there are certain games that are probably more enjoyable on a pc, and a lot that are more enjoyable on the console...but as you say....some people are a little fanatic with their choice of platform lol :)

Yeah man I prefer well almost insist to play RTS games on PC, but some RTS games have trickled their way through very talented developers who have found ways to make RTS controls possible on console, and when that happens I kick back and enjoy, and that's what it's all about, instead of spending time being asses to eachother or randomly going into a forum and spouting garbage, use that time to enjoy the game on the platform you feel so strongly about.

PS: Sorry to hear about your dad, I cant relate to losing a parent, I've lost many friends during OEF in Afghanistan and over there you're more like family, death is a hard fact of life it truly is, depending on beliefs there is some relief in the aftermath that this is all temporary and there is a place or state of being which you assume after you die etc. Not gonna get into beliefs here, but just saying there is comfort in death. That's why you enjoy your life the best you can, and cherish those around you.

I'd rather own play games on the console. I don't have to worry about any updating of the console to make sure I can play the latest games that is why I'm not a big fan of pc gaming. Having to buy new parts every year is expensive and I could money towards other things

usually its the immature of all ages that spout off about others choices. Frankly I care less what someone uses to play a game on,its just a game but some forget that. Its for entertainment purposes and means nothing so why take it personal. The world is full of people that think they're better than others and its usually those that are insecure or afraid of something. This is all my own opinion and not meant to upset or offend anyone because if your that easily offended then you require deep psychological help.

I don't understand why people insist on bashing whatever they don't use, either. It's all a matter of preference, really. They all have their strengths and weaknesses.

Me? I greatly prefer the PC. I'm much better with the keyboard and trackball than with any sort of controller (this is, of  course, almost certainly a result of using that combination for eighteen years and not using a controller much), and (most importantly) I very much prefer to be able to upgrade my own hardware whenever I want to, and fiddle around with it so I can get all my old and new games working at the same time. The less easily I can upgrade/repair my own technology the less likely I am to want to use it.

I've got nothing against consoles. I play some games on them when I'm hanging around at other people's houses, and I think they're fun and all. They're just not what I prefer to use most of the time.

I´d rather go to a pc than a console for several reasons:

-I use a laptop and they´re far more plug friendly that a console; especially when you go back and forth from US to EU.

-My projects, games and music are all in the same place.

-Consoles are not exactly "friendly" with strategy games, which are the ones I play most.

This, many times over.

I've simply learned that it is better to accept gaming as whole, rather than breaking it down into "Consoles vs PC" or "X-Box vs Playstation vs Wii".

People need to feel superiour or more special than others as part of forming their identity. It is part of finding our place, our part in society. Some people are more insecure about their 'place' than others.

They will have the better game device and drive a hummer.
