I also had interface issues where I had to restart the console.
Anyways, I am returning it to EA for a full refund and I am getting the PC version. So my only problem with this game is that they made it for the consoles. Baldur's gate was a PC only game and if they are calling this game Baldur's Gates's successor then it should have stayed pc ONLY.

You know what? I think this game is a lot BETTER than Baldur's Gate. There, I said it. Oh no, what now?VentoDrown wrote...
Cant't you fanboys and girls understand some people simply expected a little more from a game that calls itself the spiritual successor of BG?
Have you even played Baldur's Gate. I like Dragon Age so far, but it is definately not better. There is a certain atmosphere that Baldur's Gate has that Dragon Age doesn't.

I agree, dragons are in fact, pretty cool.
If only the real world had them then we would have less whining and more screaming.

If you want a big sandbox, grab a Bethesda game. If you want writing and dialogue, grab a BioWare game.
Note: I know other people makes games, these two just happen to be the best in the industry at their respective sides of the coin.

I am very dissapointed with this game.
There is really nothing special about
it. Its very typical of the new style of so called RPG's that have
been coming on to the market in recent years such as Jason and the
Argonauts, The Witcher and many others. Dragon Age is just another one of those with
different clothing.
The extreme linear nature of these
games make them more of an interactive action movie where you simply
fight in between cut scenes. If you like this type of
game/interactive movie then fantastic, to me they are far too
restrictive, tedious and boring and obviously made to be easilly
developped/distributed across all platforms. What happened to the
good old days where a game made for PC utilised almost all the keys
on your keyboard. I suppose its a sign of the times and I don't like
where the RPG genre is headed.
Combat and skills could have been
lifted straight from many other games and the graphics, audio and
controls are good but nothing special.
But the main gripe I have whith Dragon
Age is the hatefull INVISABLE WALL !!!!
When I play a RPG in a 3D world, the
last thing I want to see is my character doing the running man when
attempting to go into a body of water or move towards the edge of a
cliff. In a RPG you should be able to swim across the lake and take
on the marine beasties if any lie within or if foolish or daring
enough to climb or traverse the cliff and fall and die if you make a
mistake. None of this is very difficult either as swimming, climbing,
falling etc etc have been around for a long long time.
I really was bleeding tears in
anticipation for this game which I suppose makes the dissapoinment
even harder to take.
Here in Australia I paid $109.95 for
the standard box (new releases are typically around $89.95). I would have paid the $129.95 for the deluxe model
if there were any left. Not only am I glad I didn't, but I will be
taking this game back to the distributor and hopefully they'll allow
me exchange it for the two expansions to Oblivion that I haven't
played yet.
Before you start on me, I am no troll I
just wanted to vent my dissapointment somewhere and I'm positive I'm
not the only person that is very dissapointed with Dragon Age.
If u feel the need to cry about everythign don't post. We don't care, majority of the ppl on here love this brilliant game in its entirety so go cry some where else kid. These posts are getting so old, if u don't like it don't cry just go return or sell it...problem solved.

why do people keep complaining about the graphics? I find them to be quite pretty and suitable to this type of game.
They might be part of that group that thinks that every new game needs to be pusing the graphical limits of the day for a game to be good. Honestly graphics fall somewhere around number 4 or 5 on the list of things that make me enjoy a game.

change the way they create amazing games just because people want to
drown themselves or jump off a cliff to their death...
The only people who can really be disappointed with this game are those unfamiliar with classic RPGs and Biowares older titles.
You know, those guys who think of themselves as RPG veterans because they played WoW, Oblivion and Fallout 3 and expected Dragon Age to be Borderlands with swords, magic and dismembered limbs.

I foind it amazing how one person be so negative about Dragon Age, then another love it. I myslef think its one of the best games ever made! I suppose each to his own apply here. I think too many didnt read up on what this game was about. I knew exaclt what i was getting myself into when i ordered the Colecto Edition. My only complaint at this point is the flimsy map, but that has no bearing on the game itself. I love the game so muc that im taking very slowy and stop often to read the codex or even stop to read the Game Guide I bought for more history. Its an amazing immersive world and i look forward to Bioware and user created DLC!

I hope this is the revival of a games where the story, epic struggle, real choices and interesting characters pull oyu in and leave you feeling like you get to play a part in this story.
I want more Lord of the Rings and less Transformers 2 in my games and to me this is a perfect example so far.

Well, there is no telling what level he really is.
My profile does in no way represent my present character as I can not log in (and therefore update my profile) in game as it breaks my DLC and hence my profile isn't updated.
Don't ask me why. Seemed to have worked fine to begin with (and no. Havent had time to read through all the fixes for the broken DLC)

It's all new lore (ok it's based on other stuff, but still it's a complete new world)
If you don't get sucked into the story and intrigues, I think RPG just isn't your type of game.
Things like WoW and Aion and other mindless grindgames kinda ****ed up the entire idea about RPG. If you have ever played Baldur Gate / NWN / Planescape , those are the real thing.
Bioware did an awesome job, once again. I hope they keep it up !
Looking forward to see more of the Dragon Age world and history !

Firstly I'd like to respond to the suggestion that my post may offended some people. I'm not going to appologise as that was not my intent nor do I think it reasonable that any emotionally mature person would find it offensive. If you have been offended I cannot help you.
To the person who asked if i had played past level 2, yes I have. I
just stopped logging on while playing as I didn't see the point once I
had downloaded the free content.
Secondly I really appreciate the constructive responses such as..FalloutBoy wrote...
He's got a valid complaint. The game is somewhat linear. More so than Fallout 3 or Oblivion, but less so than Mass Effect. It is also not open world, though very few RPG's are. I'm sorry you don't like it, but if you played NWN or BG or Mass Effect, you should not have been expecting those things.
I suggest you hang with it though and see if you can still enjoy it despite those issues. I seem to enjoy it more the farther I get into it.
It is your post that has cinvinced me to give it another try. Thank you.
The problem here is forming an impression or opinion of the game in the first minutes/hours of gameplay. This game has been in development for 5? years or more. The depth of the game could be seen somewhat later. The Bio dev said linearity is only in first hours of gameplay. So give it a try and you may get lost in the DA world
As for me. I´m still waiting here in Spain for my Collector´s Edition.
I want it now !
