So I just purchased Return to Ostagar via their still-flawed Bioware Points system, primarily so that I could retrieve Calain's armor for Awakening.  Now today I read that we can't bring that over?

What an odd decision that was by BioWare.  (...he thinks to himself as he notes not to purchase any more DLC)

Yeah I hope they change their mind on this, it really sucks having half of your good gear just disappearing.

Well, it would make sense that the armor would go with Alistair when he left the party when the blight was defeated. If he's not with the party, then at the end of the game, you would probably turn it over to Anora. You can still use it in the DLC that will continue to come out.

It's a bit hard for BioWare to change their minds, since they haven't delayed Awakening. I'd say they are already preparing the copies and the boxes, it's a process that takes sometime, especially when we speak of million of copies, if not tens of millions.

Yeah, I certainly agree. It pretty much makes most of the DLC useless. These news has really killed my anticipation for Awekenings.

Agreed.  "So um we know you finished the game months ago, but come back and pay to play this couple hour DLC to find the magical kick-ass set of the fallen hero, King Calain's armor.  Look how pretty it is!  And enjoy it because you'll never see it again!  Mwuahahahaha!"

Do you folks really only play DLC for the loot?

Only?  No.  But would I keep coming back for an hour or two DLC content unless I thought we could keep stuff with us for the expansion?  Probably not.

No, but my main party's armor comes from DLC and all my mains.

This is one thing we have to wait for.

would you pay for a Dragon Age Origins copy if you'll only play with a Tier 1 Iron Longsword and Tier 1 Rough Leather Armor until the Archdemon?

Well a big draw for the DLC is armor sets and weapons. Story is nice, but the fact a big appeal from the DLC is nullified...kinda makes the DLC itself useless.

Anyone thinking Return to Ostagar would've been any good without the loot is kidding tbh...that whole DLC was about getting Cailan's armor back...It is a very poor move by Bioware if they do that, but i suspect if custom made content can be imported, it'd be very easy to remake the DLC weapons (The erfs are extractable and you can make new custom items based on those models).

Lol, romances I can understand if were saving them for a direct sequel but DLC? ^^

So your character doesnt value Cailan's armor? its just loot? considering alot of players end the game with DLC items, makes little sense not to include transfers.

I agree, this is stupid. I just got on my epilogue save so that I put on equipment that won't disappear as soon as I start the new game, realized that I didn't have viable options for two of my slots since I'm locked from non DLC locations and said screw it.

Obviously we're gonna upgrade our gear in the expansion, and obviously it's not all about loot, but no one wants to spend the first hour or so just trying to find pants. I do that enough in real life, thank you.

I can understand Cailan's armor going back to Alistair/Anora but why the hell am I loosing Starfang a sword that was forged specifically for me and the warden commander armor when I'm the warden commander?

well technically who cares about gear? you prolly have better more unique gear in awakening... it is better to have your stats transferrerd than your gear

Besides as the character in awakening starts off at lvl 15, do you think it will start of naked? seriously?

I care about gear that has a unique and interesting background to it. Take Starfang for example it's a weapon that will never have any equal, it's forged from a metal that fell from the heavens and was made by a master smith for the PC, to lose that for no reason at all is lame. I absolutely hate the WoW style of having tons of new "epic" gear thrown at me, I much rather have a smaller selection of gear that has a history behind it and actually feels special.

I agree it's lame. And while I fully suspect that someone will mod it all in, the console players are screwed as they have zero hope.

After the vanilla game and there not being a single unique set of armor outside DLC, [Juggernaut armor looks just like Wade's dragonbone plate, just different material,] i fully expect the same from Awakenings. Different palette colors for new armors, but no actually new textures.

I don't see it as a big deal. And neither, I suspect, will people who are complaining about it now after one hour of playing Awakening.

Don't get me wrong, I'll get it over it, it just really irks me to lose a weapon like starfang that I always imagined was a symbol of my grey warden (much like Maric's sword was for him, or Loghain's armor is for him) for no real reason. It also sucks since I play a rogue which means I can't use the keening blade which makes my next best option Topsider's Honor. Here's hoping that the ultimate 1h sword in awakening isn't warrior only again.

I'm not? My warden survives origins and will be going through awakenings.

I couldnt agree more. Like everyone else I hope that they either change thier minds or bio/the mod community finds a way around this.
