well to the ppl saying "i had starfang made for me why sould i lose it?" ur not the same person anymore in the expansion.

Of course I am the same person, unless I start as a new orlesian warden. I can fuly understand that starting a new warden means no DLC items.

But I have used the Warden commander gear and Starfang on my PC throughout the game, now I'm suddenly naked?
And my rogue was very moved and proud that she got to use Duncans weapons, now they are lost again to her for no reason?

well technically who cares about gear? you prolly have better more unique gear in awakening... it is better to have your stats transferrerd than your gear

Besides as the character in awakening starts off at lvl 15, do you think it will start of naked? seriously?

Agreed. I was wtf, but then I realized there will be better gear. I just really would have liked to wear the warden commander armor, because I am the warden commander. Maybe the wardens will present you with armor once they officially declare you the commander. Though I am under the assuption they make the PC a commander. Is this confirmed or is only the new character a commander?

So I'm going to lose my rings, helmet, boots and both my weapons because of Bioware being lazy, fantastic.

Im glad.. The DLC equipment is overpowered. I hope there will be less godlike wapons and armour. Dalish leather armour and starndard grey iron Dar'Misu for everyone.

Pretty lame decision there. Looking more and more like I'll be getting the Dawn of War expansion in March instead.

I'm really getting tired of this attitude. If you think it's overpowered don't use it but those of us who value unique, special items become attached to them.

Starfang was made for my hand and it should stay in my hand, it's part of my Warden's legend, like Loghain's armour and Maric's blade, as someone mentioned earlier.

It's a pain in the arse, I'll admit (after all, what kind of commander of the Grey Wardens doesn't wear Warden Commander Armour?), but I suspect a lot of it will make sense. Alistair will probably be wearing his fancy-pants golden armour, and if we're lucky, there'll be Warden Commander-equivalent armour.

The only things that I'll be annoyed to see go are my Blood Dragon Armour and Starfang.

Mods to the rescue, I guess.

Another thing... will they explain in-game why the Grey Wardens went to all that trouble of liberating Soldier's Peak, only to see it not even being used? Is it just because it's too far away from Amaranthine, and IS in fact occupied by Grey Wardens? I'd love to hear some kind of mention of Avernus, even if it is just in passing.

Mods to the rescue, basically. Now that I know Maric's sword is going to be useless to me, i'm going to mod the hell out of the Cousland family sword and use that to slay the Archdemon... because at least it won't mysteriously disappear on me. lol

I'm assuming Awakening will have a new main menu and its own downloaded content section, to go with its own Pre-order dlc.

They won't send you out there in grey iron chain mail. You'll probably start the game in armor that's suitable for your level and have the option of acquiring new stuff that leaves your old armor in the dust. With the raised level cap, your old armor wouldn't be good for long anyway.

Wow this is very disappointing. If the items can't be transferred due to technical issues one would think they could simply add an easy quest at the start of awakening that gives you copies of the items if you purchased the DLC. Glad I kept a lot of stuff in storage instead of selling it cause it beats running around naked in the exp.

I'll talk that /facepalm and double it.

I agree this DOES suck. On one hand, it will obviously be made useless being higher levels = better equipment, but still I would have at least like to started out with my Dragon and Warden armor.

Thats not the point. You dont need the "best" equipment to play this game (I play on hard) with no problems. I always carefully select my items for my characters for RP reasons mostly, not for min/maxing. On my warrior I use Starfang because it was MADE for her especially.  There are more examples, like Duncans weapons on my rogue.  Of course there will be new equipment but it will not feel the same to start Awakening without my trusted gear.

I know how you feel, I wore the Warden's necklace for the majority of the game despite it sucking.

I find that the thing with written sarcasm is it's generally difficult to tell that it's sarcasm. Something about no tone of voice coming from the keyboard. Image IPB

Well a big draw for the DLC is armor sets and weapons. Story is nice, but the fact a big appeal from the DLC is nullified...kinda makes the DLC itself useless.

I couldnt agree more. Like everyone else I hope that they either change thier minds or bio/the mod community finds a way around this.

It would be nice if u could keep the equipmentment from dlc but to say its nullified is just stupid. First of all you used it in the original origins game and got some history about Fereldan that cannot be taken away. On a side note I know u can continue as the same person but can u be a new person? sry if it been asked already

So... Now that I can't bring Calain's armor with me, is Return to Ostagar worth playing other than a little combat? Is the story worth it or is it just all about getting the armor that I can't keep anyway?

theres hardly any story to RTO, The DLC price is only worth it for the armor/gear. So if you bought the DLC, you just wasted 400 MS points. As u cant use the items in expansion.
