No DLC items? WTF?

The wording of the FAQ almost makes it sound like the decision was an intentional one rather than a technical one:
"Almost all items are imported with your character. The only exceptions are the Origins promotional items and DLC loot, which were meant for Origins alone."
To me that makes it sound like they removed DLC for balance reasons.
I agree with most of the other posters here... I don't really care about stats - I'm sure there will be plenty of new and better items available in Awakening - but characters really ought not to have items that have role-playing significance removed from them without a good story-related reason.
EDIT: On a related note, has there been any confirmation on whether the Power of Blood abilities from the Warden's Keep DLC will carry over to Awakening? Or are these going to be removed as well? Because removing equipment is one thing, but removing abilities that are supposed to be a permanent part of my character will really tick me off.

I think things could be worse. You could wake up nekkid in the Architect's Lair with nothing but your loin cloth. Or wake to find a thief magically transporting your belongings to the Deep Roads.
I'm just going to imagine that when I took up my cushy Warden Commander deskjob I handed out my neat trinkets as rewards for LTs that kicked ass. When I rock out to save the world with my loin cloth and iron dagger I'm just demonstrating how much more badass I am than they are.

I always thought the DLC worked best as additional spice for the Original Campaign for 2nd or 3rd playthoughs. So this news doesn't disappoint me at all and I already got plenty of use of the DLC item in Origins and will again if I replay Origins.

Well like I said, I don't care that much about stats, and I don't mind losing items if it makes sense in the story. But if I'm going to be the Warden Commander of Ferelden, there had better be a damn good reason why I can no longer wear my Warden Commander's Armor.

So I just purchased Return to Ostagar via their still-flawed Bioware Points system, primarily so that I could retrieve Calain's armor for Awakening. Now today I read that we can't bring that over?
What an odd decision that was by BioWare. (...he thinks to himself as he notes not to purchase any more DLC)
nevermind lol

Versions of those events happened in Baldur's Gate 2 and NWN:HoTU, respectively. lol

Another thing... will they explain in-game why the Grey Wardens went to all that trouble of liberating Soldier's Peak, only to see it not even being used? Is it just because it's too far away from Amaranthine, and IS in fact occupied by Grey Wardens? I'd love to hear some kind of mention of Avernus, even if it is just in passing.
Because the second you liberated it Levi immediately stole the keys, put his trade items inside and locked you out.
The question I ask is why we aren't marching there to reclaim it again from the thieving b****** who locked us out? I know I wouldn't let some guy lock me out of my property but apparently the Grey Warden's will.

Suddenly, Duncan pops up next to you mid-fight vs darkspawn, naked, armed with nothing but his epic beard and ponytail, looks at you, and proceeds to show you that in fact, you are doing it wrong.

Actually, there was a way in NWN: HotU to keep your gear from the previous games, and Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal, if I'm not mistaken(didn't require a mod either). Besides, the first thing I'd do, is kill the thief in as slow and painful of a way as possible, then return to putting boots to backside in the Deep Roads again(perhaps I'm the only person who actually enjoyed the Deep Roads immensely).

It's sounds more like a comercial reason, most likely there will be new dlc and they'll be ''you can have your Starfang back!''. I don't think it's technically that hard to do....
let's wait and see, I also don't think youll get your two spells back...

Technically they've only said items from the DLCs wouldn't import to Awakening. We shouldn't jump to conclusions about the Power of Blood abilities until we've heard confirmation one way or another. Spells and Talents are coded differently than items (obviously) so it may be possible that they will still work.

I find it really sucks for The Stone Prisoner as it's something that was meant to be in the game but was removed for copy protection reasons. Ok, I get that but WHY couldn't I use it in the expansion? It seems my Wardens will just end naked or with bad items at the start of Awakening.

I'll assume they intend to deck us out with something better. (if it doesn't look as good as the WC set, I shall frown.) It will mean the most to my tank PC - the others didn't have much that mattered. BTW - why is it that warriors have tons of choices? My mage had maybe 3 models, the prettiest of which wasn't very good? My rogue has 2. In the exp, I could do with some variety for mage/rogue. And I'd be happy enough just to keep my WC on my tank.

No way man that is actualy one of my favorite parts of the game. Taking Shale into Orzimarr the first time I go there I just love the reactions.
